Iran Threatens U.S. With 'Harm and Pain'
 

VIENNA, Austria - Iran threatened the United States with "harm and pain" Wednesday for its role in hauling Tehran before the U.N. Security Council over its disputed nuclear program.


"The United States has the power to cause harm and pain," Iran said a statement meant for delivery at the International Atomic Energy Agency's 35-nation board meeting in Vienna on Iran's refusal to freeze uranium enrichment.

"But the United States is also susceptible to harm and pain. So if that is the path that the U.S. wishes to choose, let the ball roll."

problem is, Iran knows they can keep a big mouth. The risk of invasion is near 0 with the "failure" in iraq. They also know that the us or isreal hardly will have the guts to bomb their plants in fear of fucking up in the middle east (face it, us needs oil and isreal needs peace)

Iran and its fucked up leader Ahmadinejad isn't strong with its people, but they have a strong position in the middle east. Cash is running in fast due to oil, saddam is gone, so is taliban and iran supported groups are grabbing power in both libanon (hizbollah), palestina (hamas) and Syria (bashar assads). They are currently superior in the region and they know it.

Don't let this post lead you to the belief that I support that fucked up country. Their crimes again humany is just plain awful - support Amnesty International and Humans Rights Watch. Nothing would please me more than to see Ahmadinejad getting a leg chopped off (commong punishment for "creating public fear") and see him slowly hang from a crane in public (common punishment for stuff like "enemy of god" or perhaps decided by the victims family (gisas principle)...

You are very wrong in my opinion. The probability of Israel attacking Iran's facilities is VERY high, and of course it will cause an all-out war between Iran and Israel, but since when has that stopped Israel before? Of course the US will be dragged into fighting on Israel's behalf also. I don't consider the Iranian leadership evil for their current position though, Iran isn't as backward as you might believe, and although it isn't an ideal society by any stretch of the imagination it is absolutely not suprising they want nukes when their main rival in the region (Israel) has them (built with US dollars of course).

i saw on cnn yesterday that an airstrike would be useless since most of irans nuclear facilities are underground. so, i dont see any type of military action by the us any time soon...

The bombing sortie plans are already ready to go. The US Air Force has already started penetrating Iranian air space to probe all their air defense radar signals. This started actively in January.

They've already run the whole simulation. And this has been publicly disclosed in the news so its not even secret.

The simulation plan had 3 phases. Phase one involves a one day full on bombardment and air strikes on the Iranian Revolutionary Guard bases which control security for the nuclear and missle programs.

Phase 2 involves strikes on the support facilities and nonconventional weapons bases. There are 300 targets. 125 of those are the WMD complexes.

Phase 3 is a ground invasion of Iran from 5 directions over a 2 week period.
U.S. troops would enter from Iraq, the northern Persian Gulf, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan and Georgia.

In the simulation, American troops surrounded but did not enter Tehran. Washington then helped appoint an Iranian government friendly to the United States.

According to that picture, was Iraq even needed as a strategic assault location? I know a lot of people believed that to be one of the main reasons of invading Iraq.

I don't think you know the difference between a war with Iraq and a war with Iran. The Iraq war was meant to oust Hussein and then occupy Iraq. If the US went to war against Iran it would most likely be a total war; thus, leaving Iran a few centuries behind everyone else in the world.

Also, for people saying the US or Israel won't bomb an Iranian nuclear facility... they will, trust me. The US has the best weapons on Earth, no country even compares to the US when it comes to weapon technology.

The best 3 militaries on the planet right now are The US, Israel, and the UK and all three are very strong allies. Israel alone would destory Iran in a war. Iran will not have nukes, I'd predict their facility getting bombed before June.
