Simple Math Question I am feeling retarted.

if 30% off is 13.00 whats full price

woj 02-17-2006 01:59 PM

18.57....

MacDaddyPlaya 02-17-2006 02:02 PM

.30x=13
x=43.33

FuqALot 02-17-2006 02:02 PM

18.571428571428571428571428571429

KMR Stitch 02-17-2006 02:04 PM

So which one is it?

Hue G. Pness 02-17-2006 02:07 PM

18.57

You can back check it:

Multiple 18.57 by .30 and get 5.57 which is 30 percent of 18.57

Then subtract 5.57 from 18.57 and get 13

pussyallnight 02-17-2006 02:07 PM

13 = 30% off = 70%

0.70x = 13
x = 18.57

FuqALot 02-17-2006 02:07 PM

You mean $13 is the "30% off" price? If that is true then it's 70% of the original price which means that woj is right and it the real price is 13 divided by 0.7

mikeyddddd 02-17-2006 02:08 PM

x-.3x=13 (you want to get rid of decimal)
10x-3x=130 (mult by 10)
7x=130 (total of x's)
x=18.57 (divide by number of x's - 7)

Lemme re word this.

The PRICE of the TICKET is full price 100% 30% off that is $13.00 What is the price of the TICKET

.30x=13
x=43.33

If $13 is the 30% discount, which is what I assumed, the original price was $43.33

This is correct if $13.00 is the amount discounted. $18.57 is correct if $13.00 is the price after the discount.

dissipate 02-17-2006 02:14 PM

18 dolla fiddy-seven cent

Alex 02-17-2006 02:35 PM

If the price of the ticket after the 30% discount is $13 then the original cost is

x-.3x=$13
.7x=13
x=$18.57

What dont you get?

toddler 02-17-2006 02:37 PM

Guess you can't learn how to do SIMPLE fucking math on myspace...

Nismo 02-17-2006 03:14 PM

Jesus Christ. Learn some basic English, then ask a question. The way you worded your posts, your questions don't make any sense.

aico 02-17-2006 03:40 PM

And I just saw in the news the other day about how it was so amazing how kids graduating Highschool couldn't do simple Algebra...

As someone already said, depending on what the fuck you meant, both the answers are correct, but I think the answer you are looking for is the $18.57.

What is the Original price?

loverboy 02-17-2006 04:56 PM

gawd I love this insane asylum!
:1orglaugh

polle54 02-17-2006 05:22 PM

hehe

this is really really easy but I think this could help you anyway, please read.

if it's 30% off you most have 70% of the total left. (100-30=70)
(this is the only thing that require brain activity at all)

this is how you are suppose to think (so you don't feel retarded next time).

We know what 70% of the total is, the key is now to find out what 1% is:
70% = 13 <=> 70%/70 = 13/70 <=> 1% = (13/70).

now that you know what 1% is and all you have to do to find 100% is to take 1% a hundred times :)

1% = (13/70) <=> "we multiply with 100 on both sides"
100% = (13/70)*100 = 18.57....

I hope this will make you remember how to solve these small percentage problems forever :)

Ahahaha dumbass.

"if 30% off is 13.00 whats full price"

It's exactly what woj fucking told you a mile up this page. 18.57 @ 30% off (wtf you asked) is 13. If you wanted a different answer you worded the question wrong.

fr0gman 02-17-2006 05:31 PM

If this thread is not a prefect example of why most people in North American can't negotiate a 4-way Stop sign I don't know what it is...

Pleasurepays 02-17-2006 05:37 PM

this thread is making asians weep

KMR Stitch 02-17-2006 05:42 PM

This thread has a point to it =)
Are people still aruging the wrong answer? lol

30% OFF THE FULL PRICE is 13.00
What was the full price.
I didn't say whats the price after the discount.

Did you just open up a ti-89 and plug both X and Y? lol

You should have said 30% OF the full price is 13.00

hehe... no... I did it by hand... no calculator at all, in fact but I made a mistake... it's from -.66 to -.33, not 0 to -.5...

I have to redo the math... think I'll use windows calculator this time around.

This is a very, very sad thread.

BruceM 02-17-2006 06:12 PM

You are "retarted"

bizz 02-18-2006 04:55 AM

30% = 13
100% = x

1300=30x

x=130/3

x=43.33

aico 02-18-2006 05:14 AM

You need to work on your English before you delve into Mathematics.

I don't even think you know what you fucking asked...

When you say "If 30% off is $13.00, what is the full price", that means that the new price after a 30% discount is $13.00, which made the original price $18.57.

Try to stay with me here:

Off = subtract
is = equals

so what you asked was basically "If Subtracting 30% = $13.00, what was the full price?"

If you wanted the answer to be the 43.33 your question should have been "30% OF the full price is $13.00, what is the full price?"
