Critique our Tour? (Pinkgasm baby steps)

Tassy and I are s l o w l y starting to market our personal site. Up til now, it has simply been a blog/art project.

But we've been taking baby steps towards making it into a real business.
And one of the first steps is to build a tour.
Soooo, we'd LOVE feedback, harsh criticism, or friendly reactions to our first try at a tour.

NOTE: We're aware that the text is more our "pink vibe" than your standard tour language. But it's important to us. :)

LittleMack 02-13-2006 07:49 PM

Very comprehensive, you have a sense of what is going to be in the members area...just enough tease...

Ice 02-13-2006 07:53 PM

Other than the blank space under the circle pic and black space under THANK YOU!!! it looks AWESOME

Perhaps if you could move some of the text on the right into the middle it would look more balanced. That way you have blank space on the left and right but not middle

Phil 02-13-2006 07:53 PM

Now what a fucking surprise !!! Like I said great marketing and you are the best to make use out of it !!!!

Thanks!! I've been in WSYSIG mode, so I should go in and clean up the code some. I'll work on the spacing, too.

Very much appreciated.

Phil 02-13-2006 07:55 PM

Ps: I?ll be the first one to promote you just because you fucking genius?

http://www.cockybastard.com/ - I would work on that idea you have as I think that site has real style.

Actually yeah that splash page on PinkGasm.com rocks! Fuck it borrow the lot. The great thing about CockyBastard is that it is really simple. The limited colour palette is also very effective and makes the pink prominent without being to overpowering.

In the cock worship photo you look like there is someone has thier foot in your ass.

Also I think that SE's like short pages.

chase 02-13-2006 08:33 PM

I love it and will likely be in your first influx of members. Only thing I see is the very top image is set to the left for me in firefox, but the rest seems centered.

seeric 02-14-2006 10:48 AM

hey hal, one thing i would suggest is to not have a tour wider than 800. my monitor resolution is huge, like 1152x864 and the tour fills up my whole screen. alot of surfers and such are still on 800x600, so when i resize to that size i get alot of scrolling. looks bad ass and fills up the whole screen when im on my 1152x800 resolution. we jsut got some new dell pcs here at the office and they came out of the box at 800x600 resolution.

the tour looks great.

Thanks. I've been out of the design game a while and these tables are killing me. I'll try to figure out why it goes to 100%. THANKS!!

KRL 02-14-2006 11:09 AM

I like it. The layout and verbage gives a sense of "realness" and "uniqueness".

I think you'll develop a nice big following as it grows.

You two should right a book about sexuality and get on Oprah with it. It'd sell like hotcakes, because you're such a fascinating, intriguing and sexually open couple.

Thanks! It's funny (and cool) you say that. I always tell people that our goal is to be on Oprah. :)

sfera 02-14-2006 12:09 PM

needs some better flow IMO

IWantU_Jeff 02-14-2006 12:53 PM

Wow I like it, very nice work. Everything up front & detailed..

Tricksy 02-14-2006 01:43 PM

Very good job! The tour is nicely done. When I think of a good design...good design is when u'll remeber it and come back to see it again. Very well done! Congratulations!

Mack 02-14-2006 02:21 PM

Looks very good, looks very REAL. I don't know what I would call your target audience, but I'm willing to bet REAL is important to them. You guys look great.

PS. I think Red Ezra and you guys should hook up for a photo shoot or two. A nice haunting Pink photo shoot.

I think you have SUCH a cross-marketable site here...
Amateur fans will love it, because it is so genuine.
Women will join, because it's erotica but it doesn't feel dirty in a way that will put off sexually repressed females. (I know that sounds sexist against my own sex, but I think you know what I am getting at.)
Couples will join, because of curiosities about swinging (not saying it's a swinging site, but joining is a "safe" way to add other couples into the mix.) or just wanting to explore sexuality in a broader way.
I bet even gay guys would join because I think they'd appreciate they way you guys work like a well-oiled machine together.:winkwink:

Oh, BTW, I was on Oprah when I was 19, lol!

I like the look and idea quite a bit.

First a quick thought - You might consider having a join button above the fold as you do in your old tour.

As a larger concept, the way you have things laid out suggests considering multiple paths to the join page. Here is the reasoning.

It seems as though most of what you are doing is running on a WordPress engine at least here pinkgasm.com/blog .

You can structure WP to be very SEO friendly and really take advantage of all the text that you are generating.

You can have each of your posts be generated with meta, tech.no.rati , and other tags as well a meta content description automatically.

You could take the pictures that you using for your "recent updates" and the text description for each one and make an "episode summary" post.

Then as your prefer you could either keep that as a blog, or incorporate them into your mail blog, and pull the rss feed for that category into the tour. You could have the tour just display the X most recent ones.

Then if they clicked on one of the "recent updates" or pictures of the videos they would go to the permalink page for that post/episode summary.

The permalink page could have a template that is similar to the tour, but heavily emphasizes the join link. Think of this as a 2nd route to the join.

This would have the advantage of creating SEO friendly pages on an ongoing basis, without giving away too much content.

By giving the surfer a chance to find out a little more if they aren't ready to join, you might be able to reengage them.

You might also consider having the photo pages that open in a new window, use the same template and also link through to the join page.

You mentioned that you were having an issue with tables. I might also suggest just designing it so that it looks correct even in photoshop and than having someone use CSS to build your layout instead of tables.

Hopefully that makese sense, and you find it useful.

If it doesn't make sense, you have questions, or you want links to some of the appropriate resources you can ICQ 306014014.

It's looking awesome! Add a few tweaks you see posted here and you're well on your way!

Good luck with this.

I think it's going to be a smashing success!

The number one rules with tours is that you are wanting to guide them to the join page. And I'm not seeing a join link at the top of the page when I first see it in my browser.

On the middle section of the page on the left hand side, the pictures there are kind of small and worthless. I would make them a bit larger. They are thumbnailed size now and fail to get across the beauty of the image.

On the picture that says "cock worship" it looks like something is coming out of your arse. What's up with that?

And the main picture on the top right...... Where the star is.... The star makes your cock look like, well, a carrot.

I have a feeling that your site will do well no matter what because the two of you are so damn original. And I'll bet my left nut your member's area will retain like a mother fucker too!

I love your ideas. But I was under the impression that anyone sending traffic would frown upon too many links. It would seem like it would be hard to avoid traffic leaks. No?

I completely agree that you should not have traffic leaks on your tour.

What I am suggesting is that the surfer can go a little 'deeper' into the tour if desired. This is pretty common in the form of 2 or 3 page 'reality tours'.

In this case you allow them to click into the "episode" post or page - which brings up that post with the text description which then leads to the join page.

This would still carry the affiliates id with it, and of course they would get credit for the sale.

Just as about, FAQ, bios etc can help to build trust & value with the surfer, so would the episode or summary posts. The key is that you are not giving them enough content to satisfy, only to tempt.

I think that's really good advice, especially if you do intend on marketing to women and couples heavily.

Before I got into the biz, whenever I surfed a site (and it was ALWAYS personality based sites that I toured and joined) I barely ever joined if they didn't have a bio or some way for me to learn more about the personality (personalities in this case, lol).

BobG 02-15-2006 02:13 PM
