have you ever gotten more money from an ATM then you asked for??

you know a couple of 20's stuck together or something?? Or even a larger sum? If you did , did you return it , or just yelled SCORE:thumbsup

mortenb 02-02-2006 03:47 PM

No, but I have had coke machines return 3-4-5 times the money I put in quite a few times..

After Shock Media 02-02-2006 03:48 PM

Had a teller at a drive up window give me an accidental extra 400.00 once. Did not notice until I was at the store. Promptly went back to the bank and returned it to her.

BigCashCrew 02-02-2006 03:50 PM

i have been drunk and hit an extra 0 on accident. It took me a minute to realize it was my own mistake ;)

Banks knows anyways ... they would have called you (if you got an account there).

Once they gave 1200 $ of change too much (my friend owns a bar) to one of his guys and they called him like a week later when they found out... looked at the videos etc

ThumbLord 02-02-2006 03:52 PM

once, almost 12 years ago, I asked for 100 guilders ( yep the old dutch currency ) got billed for 100 guilders but the machine spitted out over 400 guilders, to be honest I cannot recall the exact amount.

jact 02-02-2006 03:53 PM

I got short changed $40 two nights ago by an ATM, a bill had a tear in it and got caught in the machine and kept another one from getting out. I guess the next guy got something extra.

Alphonso 02-02-2006 03:53 PM

there is no bank in my village. i want to buy an atm machine :(

I did not want the teller to come up short anyways. I do have an account there and have been with them a long time. I like everyone that works there and the last thing I wanted was the teller to get yelled at or canned.

FuqALot 02-02-2006 03:54 PM

i once was about to get money from the ATM, when i saw there was still money hanging out of the ATM, sheet negro spend that money - insurance is your friend

Benny 02-02-2006 03:56 PM

One time my son and I were behind a really old guy at the drive up atm, he was soooo confused he didn't even realize he completed a transaction and he pulled away and left his cash sitting in the slot/door. So we grabbed it quick and caught him before he left the parking lot, boy was he happy...

Made me feel good to do something like that with my kid in the car, good example and all :thumbsup

uno 02-02-2006 03:57 PM

I've been shortchanged a bunch of times. Never got extra.

marko13 02-02-2006 03:58 PM

i'm so unlucky beside that....

Pornwolf 02-02-2006 04:02 PM

I got taken for $485 from an E-Trade ATM machine here. I had to jump through 15 million hoops to get the money back.

I stuck my card in the machine, entered my pin, entered the amount and it went through the process of spitting out money... only no money came out! I was pissed!

FuqALot 02-02-2006 04:04 PM

by the way, the amount i talked about was like 480 dollars, so no way it was going to be returned

JimmiDean 02-02-2006 04:06 PM

I had just the opposite, damn machine coughed up some of my money and then the rest in pieces as the door closed, had to run into the bank for help.
Guess thats what happens when you try to withdraw loonies and toonies.

joefriday 02-02-2006 04:11 PM

I was at ATm about 10 years ago , was so stonned that I didnt notice money come out (too busy watching traffic go by) then it sucked it back in, they didnt add it back to my account either bastards.

Scott McD 02-02-2006 04:15 PM

I'd never have the luck... :(

woj 02-02-2006 04:15 PM

I once found a quarter in the phone machine, does that count?

That happened to my hubby, he wasn't paying attention and $100 got sucked back into the machine. It took the bank 45 business days to add it back into the account, and I reckon if I hadn't kept calling and harrassing them about it they wouldn't have done anything.

Purple Haze 02-02-2006 05:25 PM

I can say that I have been shortchanged by ATM's. It looks like you received the money that I was shorted. It least it was someone deserving. :)

Spunky 02-02-2006 05:32 PM

I would get half 20's sometimes...I couldn't cash them either

Z 02-02-2006 05:33 PM

I cashed a check once for $500 at somebody else's bank. The girl gave me $5000.

As she was counting it, I was laughing. When she finished, I said, "Honey, you'd better thank your lucky stars that I'm an honest guy." and told her what she'd done.

I truly believe that you reap what you sow, get what you give, it all comes around, etc. I guess that's why I'm so damned lucky.

2HousePlague 02-02-2006 05:34 PM

"Good luck" of that sort scares the shit out of me. Karma. I would probably drop it in the first panhandler's cup I came across -- :)

SmokeyTheBear 02-02-2006 05:37 PM

i got shorted a $20 one time at an atm , and the lady said " thats impossible" , im like " well impossible or not it just happened , heres the money its $20 short " , i never did get my $20 back , thieving bastards

WME 02-02-2006 05:41 PM

my friend told that his officemate's salary was encoded on his ATM. apparently there was an error with the bank.

Verbal 02-02-2006 05:42 PM

A year ago in Vegas I was getting some money out at the Imperial Palace. There were two ATM's and the guy next to me was having all kinds of problems. He finally walked away pissed off when all of a sudden the damn machine started spitting out twenties ... $200-some-odd bucks. I spent nearly a half an hour trying to track the guy down and finally found him. When I told him what happened, he took the money without barely looking up from his slot machine and mumbled a vaque "thanks".

SABuffy 02-02-2006 05:45 PM

I'm way too honest...I'd take it back to the bank. I even tell the check out chick's at the supermarket when they give me 5 cents too much change. Honesty is the best policy (well...that's what my mum says and she's old so she should know!) :)

Thats the irony of banks. They'll hound you down if they give you an extra 5$. They've taken all the precautions so that if it happens, they'll get their money back.

BUT, if its the other way around, well then your screwed. You gotta hassle them to death if you want them to do anything.

I went to the casino with some buddies to play some blackjack. I drew out 200 dollars and got 400. I was ready to go home. Figured i already beat the house. Took me a while to realise I'd pushed the wrong button. ;)

once i had my salary doubled. thought it was the management so i asked them. turns out the bank made error and loaded my account twice so they called them. too bad i havent withdrawed the amount before they could change it. :winkwink: . seriously, i guess i wouldnt have taken the money either

Lee Hotti 02-02-2006 07:37 PM

I be yelling SCORE all the way to da club

BigBen 02-02-2006 07:42 PM

I got shorted $60 once. Receipt showed that I got screwed so I was going to go to the bank the next day, but after getting home and looking online, the machine reimbursed me about a minute later. :)

MediaGuy 02-02-2006 07:57 PM

I got shorted a couple times and used the phone they have next to the teller to tell her... apparently the machine knew it was out of cash, reported it, and deposited in my account. The other time I just stood in line twenty minutes and gave the human the receipt - they checked the transaction saw the machine gave me short, and paid out.

But another time I deposited $400 in someone else's account and it never showed up there. That was four months ago. I'm still harassing them for it and they tell me they have to do a whole quarter's accounting to find the deposit they received but never shelled out.

Would I return it? Betcha I would.

First it's right. Second - they would know they over paid and it would probably disappear from your account the next day lol !
