I just woke up to a fire in my bathroom (pics)

No bullshit.
Last night I left a candle lit in my bathroom. I just moved into this place and the bathroom light began going out. The candle was almost out anyway so I left it alone.

This morning, I noticed it was still pretty bright in the bathroom. I walked in and the candle had broken at the bottom and the fire must have traveled down the wall and onto some towels I had on the floor and a magazine.

This scared the living shit ouot of me. I'm still shaking.

Well good thing you didnt burn the place down, an angel was watchin over u

Brad Gosse 01-16-2006 09:03 AM

OMFG I always worry about leaving candles lit. Sometimes I leave the house and drive a long way and then think to myself "Did I blow out that candle?"

Everytime I do this I drive home and check again.

Manowar 01-16-2006 09:03 AM

dayumn!!!

Ordo 01-16-2006 09:08 AM

I'm still shakin a bit.

I walked in and my wall and towels were on fire.

An angel? Gotta be something. My intuition, an angel, something told me to look in the bathroom the second I woke up..

this happened to me only 3 weeks ago - my heart wouldn't stop racing for hours - i literally ripped up my kitchen floor with a screwdriver and my bare hands - cut them to shit with slivers. in my case i had dumped an ashtray in a kitchen garbage bag that sits on the floor - within a few minutes luckily i went back into the kitchen and there it was

Yea based on your pics, the fire didnt look like it did as much damage as it could've.

You lucked up. :banana :banana

Ordo 01-16-2006 10:29 AM

Well, luck is preparation meeting opportunity.

I prepared the candle that would catch fire, I left an opportunity for the fire to start by leaving the candle unattended.

I think the fire was lucky. I'm just a moron.

Never again..

Sosa 01-16-2006 11:04 AM

well that was a stupid fucking idea to leave a candle burning overnight.

theFeTiShLaDy 01-16-2006 11:11 AM

i don't leave any lit candles coz something can always happen.

Honez 01-16-2006 01:51 PM

Candles are bad. I had one of those Glade scented candles burning on my desk while I worked one day. I got up and went to the bathroom. I was gone maybe a minute. When I came out of the bathroom the smoke alarm in the hallway started going off. At first I was thinking the battery must be going dead on it and that's why it was going off. I couldn't smell smoke anywhere. I walked into my office and my desk was on fire. Seems the ceiling fan had blown a loose piece of paper on top of my candle. The paper caught on fire which caught my phone on fire which then caught a folder of papers on fire. Like a dork I scooped it all up and carried it to the sink. That was painful not to mention little pieces of burning paper dropped all over the carpet between my desk and the bathroom. I am so lucky I didn't burn the whole freakin' house down. And I am so glad my smoke detector is so sensitive.

Unfortunately, I do this with everything: candles, oven, door-locked?, dogs have water?....

Annoying little OCD I have.
