Help for thinning hair???

I'm noticing my hair is starting to thin. It's not anything major but scared it might get worse...should i start taking propecia? any experiences? i dont want to go limp...

Don't comb or brush your hair more often than absolutely necessary. Excessive grooming can cause the individual hairs to come out very easily.

Don't use a blow dryer on thinning hair. Heat affects the chemical makeup of our hairs causing them to be less able to resist the tendency to come out. Dry your hair by gently patting it with a soft towel and allow the air to finish the drying process.

Don't braid your hair, or use ponytails or cornrows. The tension applied to the hair follicles can cause the hairs to fall out faster than normal which speeds up the thinning hair process.

Use one of the many hair restorative shampoos and conditioners that are on the market today. These items are specially formulated with vitamins and nutrients that are proven to reduce the occurrence of thinning hair.

If your hair loss is extreme, you can ask your physician about the many pharmaceutical and surgical options that are available today to stop or at least reduce the rate of your thinning hair.

Get trendy. Shave it all off. Then, if you want to look tough as well, get some ugly tattoos (I'm joking about the tattoos).

Don?t mess too much with your hair, or by the time you're 40, it will look 85.

Expo_Vids 01-10-2006 01:51 AM

Ok, now ignore the other posts and just go to your doctor and get a script for Propecia.

I have been taking Propecia for 6 years ands still have a full head of hair. My older brother does not take it and his hair is much thinner.

Just get it and take it every day.

thats strange because i have a receding hairline and thinning hair ( kind of ) and my hairdresser said to agitate the scalp as much as possible to "invigorate" the scalp and roots. ? maybe she was bullshitting me :)

OK, I think my sex drive went down a bit but that is a BENEFIT because now I can at least go 2 seconds without thinking about sex.

Other than that I don't have any side effects. It does not make your dick limp. Not mine anyway.

I use this Nioxin shampoo+conditioner. Prevents hair loss. I bought it at the salon I go to but you can find it online. For some reason its expensive online everywhere I can find it but its only $25/bottle at the salon. The bottles are huge, I've been using the same one for over a year.

Use spunk. The proteins make your hair grow thick :2 cents:

AceWare 01-10-2006 05:42 AM

I had a talk with my hair stylest one day & she tossed me some tips like..

Don't brush your hair when it's wet or after you get out the shower.

If you smoke weed it clogs your hair pores & stops hair growth. (I was a little surprised when she told me this)

wash your scalp with apple cider vinegar mixed with water if you did smoke weed to help un-clog the pores & to help new hair growth... You can find the recipe for how much apple cider vinegar to water you need to mix if you google for it. I also take Apple Cider Vinegar in pill form to help. I notice hair out side my hair line growing since i started this.

Use a good shampoo & conditioner daily.. Also dandruff shampoo's can cause hair loss.

Has this been scientifically proven?

I've been using Head and Shoulders for the past 15 years because my skin is so dry, and my hair is somewhat thin. Don't know if the shampoo has caused that though. I may try something else for a few months just to see.

One time I bought one of their more powerful types. Came in a dark blue bottle, almost black and the shampoo was brownish in color.... There was always tons of hair in my comb while I was using it. I'm quite certain that was making my hair fall out.

I love all the people who "talked to their hair stylist" and got some expert information.

I mean, shit, when something is going on with the human body, I know the first place I always turn to is somebody who makes slightly more than minimum wage and didn't require anything more than fifth grade to get in to their trade school. If you should ever develop an odd mark on your skin, will you be heading to the retail clothing salesmen at Sears for an answer too?

Now back to reality. See a Doctor, they'll tell your real options as opposed to fucking snake oil solutions.

I heard that snake oil really works!

In addition, there really is no reason to waste money on products such as these . . . most people with thinning hair (or no hair) just stay inside with their curtains closed. This seems to work just fine for them and doesn't cost anything.

Good luck!

I heard alot about that horse shampoo.. you might wanna try it...

Warchild speaks the truth. From what I've seen here that's being called "advice" I would stay away from stylists. Far away!

Hair loss is caused by a buildup of DHT (which is related to testosterone) in your body, specifically in your scalp. Control or block DHT and you will keep your hair.

Nizoral shampoo (2%) is the best way to do this immediately. It eradicates DHT on the scalp. There's a special type called the 'Regrowth Treatment Shampoo', that's available that contains 3% salicylic acid. It strips the dead skin cells on the scalp to make for better Nizoral absorbtion.

Nizoral is a mainstay. Use it in combination with one of the products below:

Minoxidil (Rogaine) - helps regrow hair. No one knows exactly how but it does. There's a couple of Minoxidil/Retin A/Azelaic acid combonations out there that work even better than Minoxidil alone. Azelaic acid inhibits DHT 100% on the scalp so it's a good combo with Minoxidil. You can skip the retin a if you use the regrowth treatment shampoo with Salycic acid.

Propecia is good in a way. It reduces DHT receptors from a blood plasma level in your body so your body has less chance of absorbing DHT. It's cool, but also affects your strength, libido and other male characteristics. The price is high, but saving your hair might be worth paying that price if you are too far gone up top.

There's only 1 other thing proven to be stronger than the treatments I just mentioned. Avodart. You can read up on this but I'd suggest testing the ones described above before you take that step.

You can pick up some of the products below.

http://www.wholesalehairproducts.com/

http://www.divineskin.com/spectralDNC/default.asp recommended.

http://www.froogle.com of course.

If you want to find out more about Avodart just ICQ me.

152-970-595 Don't hit me unless you have been trying to save your hair for at least a year or two.
