Yahoo took my hard worked SEO and sold it to an affiliate
Search:
http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=bra...v1-&fl=0&x=wrt Notice the root domain @ #1. That was planned. Then click it: http://tour.brazilbang.com/?nats=MjI0NzoxMDoxMw The spot was sold to an affiliate for what should be a root #1. Yahoo sucks balls. Viva google. |
Yahoo sends over 2000 hits to teeniepalace.com every day. Google about 1/10th that. VIVA YAHOO.

Did that. Just google didn't sell the spot. |
I guess that's a solid testimonial for http://www.wildlinecorp.com/ then ?
|
Contact the affiliate talk to him and tell him nicely that you won't pay for that traffic. I'm sure you've already considered or done this, but I do agree yahoo selling 'free' spots is fucked up. But shouldn't be a major problem for you.
|
The least they could've done is put a sponsored link above and leave the free listing intact. I agree with Chief, contact the affiliate and let him/her know those signups won't be paid for.

I SEO'ed those sites myself, so we could get the #1 when you search for one of our sites. Wildline had nothing to do with that. Yahoo selling the #1 spots to affiliates is a very fucked up practice though. |
Let's hope that Google doesn't go the same route Yahoo has gone with selling free spots.
|
Why the fuck shouldent he be paid?
You guys are amazingly stupid sometimes. |
remind me of this thread if Chief or Damagex ever start a program.
|
jay i wasn't directing that google optimization thing to you, but to the other guy who mentioned getting 10x traffic from yahoo over google. anyone getting that much MORE traffic from yahoo than google needs to work on their google seo.

If they were sending to another site I would really be pissed. I'm sure Yahoo has terms about doing that. |

"I understand Jay's opinion, if wildline is a good affiliate for him it might be in his benefit to just let them have it, but that's for him to decide." I'm not an idiot either, I wouldn't mess with a good affiliate over something like that. |

I don't fault wildline for taking advantage of this. I fault Yahoo for being greedy scumbags. |

Good to see that you're pissed at the right person/people/company. I really believe this whole move is going to backfire on Yahoo. |
what makes you think yahoo "sold it". if they did, how do you go about buying the listings? it isnt an overture listing is it?
what do you think about the adwords at on top of your google listing that they sold? Brazil Bang www.BrazilBang.com Sign up for the premier porn site on the web, Brazil Bang! |

Fill out the form correctly and see for yourself... |
I can't believe the ones defending the affiliate. Did Yahoo step in it? Yes. However, if the affiliate is aware of this, he's basically buying stolen goods.
|
yahoo is doing that for some time now
they index is not just algo driven jay I sent you a nice url about this via ICQ :) |

There is NOTHING preventing Jay from buying them back if it's cost effective and he so desires. |
How come it doesn't indicate that it's a sponsored listing ? How does Yahoo "sell" the #1 spot like that in free listings ? If it's not SEO, and it's sold.. where do you buy them ?

Get a grip on yourself. I don't care who, how, or why this happened but it does not justify asking an affiliate to stop using the methods or threaten with non-payment. Sadly it is back to the drawing board for Jay, live and learn. But you Chief, and that other fuck, better revise your business plans. |

Would I buy ads on something like this, sure! I'd also expect some people to not pay my ass considering how shitty of a traffic method it is. |
Just tell Yahoo to pull your sites. If you don't like their business practices, why do business with them?
Yahoo dosen't 'OWE' you anything, nor should it be expected. |
Bad move not to pay an affiliate like that.
Word will spread like wildfire, and I'm sure many people will simply stay away from that sponsor. And please... stolen goods? It's Yahoo's traffic, they can send it and manipulate it in any way they see fit. |
Congrats XXXJay!
You started 560000th GFY thread! |

Paid listings getting above "normal" listings is something we know about very well in this industry. Yahoo does it too..
|
Holy shit? What's the price for a paid listing? Do they have to pay per click after that as well or is it a fixed price?
|

i thought wildline only does paid campaigns? i.e. a sponsor pays wildline $5k and they send 20k uniques through paid spots like that on yahoo.
