Shots were fired on board an American Airlines flight that had landed at Miami Intl. Airport.

If it ain't got its own CNN theme song, it ain't big news.

MIAMI, Florida (CNN) -- A weapon was fired on an American Airlines plane as it was on the runway at Miami International Airport on Wednesday, authorities confirmed.

The weapon was apparently fired by a federal air marshal on board the plane, which was on a stopover during a flight from Medellin, Colombia, to Orlando, Florida, police said.

The Boeing 757 was due to take off for Orlando at 2:18 p.m. ET.

Your assumptions and theories are what's killing me.

If someone close to me was on that plane I would prefer they shot a potential bomber rather than give him the benefit of the doubt and later have dozens or hundreds of people die.

And... it doesn't take a genius to figure out that nowadays you don't joke around about shit like that on an airliner.

So far it says something about the dude claiming he had a bomb, the Federal Agent told him to stop, he didn't, Agent shot him.

MIAMI - A passenger who claimed to have a bomb in a carry-on bag was shot on a jetway after an American Airlines plane arrived at Miami International Airport from Colombia, officials said.


Homeland Security Department spokesman Brian Doyle said after the plane had parked at the gate, a passenger indicated there was a bomb in the bag. The passenger was confronted by air marshals but ran off the plane, Doyle said.

A team of air marshals pursued and ordered the passenger to get on the ground. The passenger complied, then was shot when apparently reaching into a bag, Doyle said.

The plane had just arrived from Colombia and was headed on to Orlando.

Airport and Miami-Dade County police officials said they had no immediate comment. American Airlines officials confirmed the shooting was on a jetway.

Martin Gonzalez, spokesman for Colombia's civil aviation agency, said he had no information regarding the incident. "The flight left normally with no problems," he told The Associated Press in Bogota.

He said he did not have a list of passengers who were aboard the plane.

So they use real bullets on these planes? Is this safe? I heard somewhere... a long, long time ago that if you shot a bullet on a plane and it peirced the shell the air pressure would drop and everyone would get sucked out...
