Madcat, that sounds like the sort of spam people send to addresses used in domain registration contacts. If you do a whois lookup on domainname.com (whatever it was), does it show your "private" email address? If so, expect a crapload more spam. It's not right, but it's how it is.

I have been dealing with Mallcom for years and they have never done anything but been class acts!

Like i said, it was never listed anywhere.

Only on the webmasters page of my site - but its scrambled pretty good against the bots. My guess is someone was manually hitting high traffic sites and collecting emails from them.

Speaking personally, I'd prefer a company to manually check out my site and send me an email. It's not spam. If I got it 5 times, I might let them know I received it and no need to re-email it. If I got it 10 times, I might complain to them. If I got it 20 times, I might start a thread.

how else are they supposed to contact you ? you'd rather they phoned? if they're manually collecting addresses from high traffic sites I'd call that targeted marketing not spam. Doesn't sound like it's mass mailed.
