Newbie but not so "New"...

Hey there my name is Amy from Amysworld. I figured I would make an intro before I posted my very opinionated views. haha. But you know what they say about opinions.. lol.

Anyhow.. I got started in the adult industry when I was 18... I danced until I was 24 and got fed up with the hustling aspect. I decided to get a site because I didnt mind living in a fishbowl. :) I thought, "Oh sure, I will just rig up my house with all these cameras and people can watch me for a monthly fee." But like most camchicks, I didnt have ANY content. The guy laughed and I was sent on my way to take pics and videos. You should have seen me scrounging around my photos to find pics to scan. Thank God for a long term relationship or I would have no pics at all. (he is the ex now, btw).

Fast forward 4 redesigns later... to the here and now. My site (under my supervision has undergone change after change after change). I pride myself on the fact that I have just hired programmers by the hour and learned along the way. I am FULLY a part of my site and I dedicate about 10 - 18 hours a day on it. I now can redesign and update everything and I am learning more every day.

I think my problem I am up against is finding a way to market my site since I cant find another site with a girl as dedicated as me. All the affiliate programs cater to hardcore stuff but, even though my site has hardcore, that is only 1/10th of what it offers. I have a spycam I am on all the time as well as a VERY interactive message board (up 4 months and almost 8000 posts - lengthy ones at that). I know most of my members names, dates of birth, location, if they are happy or sad for the day. I write in my journal sometimes 3 times a day. The site is seriously MY LIFE. But I wouldnt want it any other way. How do you market a site like that? I was in awe over some of the stats of sites I saw. I am not bad looking so what is the problem and can someone please tell me which direction to look to promote?

Thanks for listening and here are some pics :)

Fast reply was because you are hot

Retention is how long someone remains a member of your site. Beyond one month, as opposed to a one time buy.

Your Sig can be edited in your user control panel. Top Left "USER CP" Leave a link to your site so people who see your posts can see who you are and what your about.

Amysworld 11-10-2005 03:09 PM

Yes, I have many people that stay on however the people that are very close are very close. I want hundreds and I know it is possible with dedication. If I get them in I keep them but how do they know I am something different?? I am clueless to Affiliates.

Dalai lama 11-10-2005 03:15 PM

You created a whole site and you are that dedicated to it, and you have no idea how to get traffic or market your site?? Wow thats insane.. I am sure you will do fine here, you look cute and you sound like you are ready to learn, good luck!

ihcr 11-10-2005 03:33 PM

you are very pretty - i'd fuck you -welcome

Donny 11-10-2005 03:36 PM

You've come to the right place to begin finding people to help promote your site. But don't let anyone smooth talk you into "managing" your site for you. Keep doing it yourself and ask questions like you're asking now.

Amysworld 11-10-2005 03:39 PM

Thanks for your responses you all :)

It isnt that I cant find traffic... I do shows on Camz and ACH and have approx 800 - 1200 people in there but I am getting burnt out. I feel like I am doing the same things over and over again and it seems the same people make those circuits.

I have never used an affiliate before and I dont know what genre my site seems to fit in other than softcore/ hardcore 70/30. I am at a crossroads. Dont get me wrong, I do well enough, I just know I can do better :)

Dirty Dane 11-10-2005 03:46 PM

I think this is where you want to start http://www.getnats.com/ - affiliate software. You seem smart enough, so no need to go into length. But get yourself an affiliate program setup than come back and convince people to promote you.

pornguy 11-10-2005 05:18 PM

Well you have a nice ass, and a nice set of tits. Welcome,

phonesex 11-10-2005 05:27 PM

welcome to gfy.

Libertine 11-10-2005 05:32 PM

Some ideas.

First of all, good job on running your site all by yourself. Too few models do that these days, and it really adds that little bit of authenticity that keeps things interesting.

Second, the non-member portion of you site sucks. I know that sounds harsh, but it's true.

On the first two pages (warning page + main page) there isn't a single large, clear view of you, which allows an overall view of what you look like. How is that supposed to get people to want to join your site?
Compare it to this site: http://www.tawneestone.com/
Do you see how that one immediately delivers a view of the model, and thus entices surfers to click through?

Then, on the "Picture Gallery" page, there are no full size preview pics. By this time, almost all surfers will have already decided that there is nothing to see on the site, will have no clue as to why to join (after all, they still don't know what you look like), and thus will click away.
The preview vids are nice, but most surfers will be gone by the time they could get to those.

Apart from those not exactly minor details, the design of your site is hopelessly outdated and rather bad. Gray isn't exactly the "hottest" colour out there, and it honestly does not look good when combined with pink. An "amateur" site looking amateur is good, but this design is not.

It would probably be a good idea for you to hire a professional designer to redesign your site. It will cost you some, but it should be worth it (if you get the right one, that is).

Third, like everyone else in this thread said, create an affiliate program. You being female will allow you to ruthlessly take advantage of half the webmasters on GFY.

Amysworld 11-10-2005 05:39 PM

This is so overwhelming :( I am looking around at sites and see such detail into banners, tour pages for affilaites, galleries for affiliates :( What do you think I need to start? I can understand the CCBill Affiliate Sign up BUT I just dont want to go overboard with things I dont need. What do you think?

PS - Thanks for all the welcomes.. you guys are great.

Amysworld 11-10-2005 05:43 PM

Hmmm.. ok... I will take all your advice except for the colors. I like it, it isnt like any other site. And I like that. Thank you for your advice. I think I will revamp and just do a tour into the site :) Just a little overwhelming considering this will be redesign #5 .. lol.

PS - Thanks for the heads up on taking advantage of webmasters but that was the whole reason I got out of stripping. Not my cup of tea. I have worked for everything I have received, I am not about to stop now.

I do appreciate your advice though :)

This is probably the worst advice ever, but you should try and spend about half an hour a day reading GFY (and focusing on threads to do with business). It should help you get a better understanding of how the business works.

Your priorities right now should be something like:

#1: Start taking affiliates & do some marketing (post a few galleries, etc)
(make sure they are provided with some content to use, the most productive affiliates often don't need a lot of ready-made promotional materials)
#2: Small improvements in your site's design
#3: Complete redesign
#4: Promotional materials for affiliates

KCat 11-10-2005 05:50 PM

There are a ton of women who run their own amateur sites & are just as dedicated as you are. Trixie, Betty, Elli, Vanilla, plus tons more that don't post on GFY. Not every model has a husband or webmaster running the show & most of us do cam shows, chat with our members via message boards & email. Hell, I sent out xmas cards last year!

If you haven't been able to find "another site with a girl as dedicated as me", you haven't looked very hard.

No offense, but one of the reasons I don't like the colours is exactly that I saw similar colour schemes on hundreds of sites around 1998-2000 :winkwink:

As for taking advantage of webmasters... I was actually mostly kidding on that one. Mostly. Being a female model allows you almost unlimited attention here on GFY, and as a business owner free exposure of your program is one of the best things you can get.
It doesn't mean you don't have to work for things. If you don't convert, people will stop sending you traffic really, really quickly, no matter how much they like your looks.
