Any of you guys ever used mescaline?
 

After seeing the movie: Fear and Loathing in las vegas, I am very curious about the 70's drug:Mescaline. Anyone tried it and how was the trip>? Peace out, Kai

There are some books by Carlos Costeneda -- not sure of the exact spelling of the last name -- learn about Mescalito from Don Juan, an wise old Mexican indian ;) The books are supposedly in Spanish and English... Probably you will only find these books in your university library... Also there's a short story by Aldus Huxley -- Doors of Perception...

I've never tried it -- but I hope to try it at least once before I die so I can meet God while I'm still alive ;)

I'm curious -- did you experience anything during those 16 hours?

If I ever tried it -- I think I'd want to be far away from civilization -- outdoors... I hear there may be a lot of screaming, running around naked, pissing, etc... hehe ;)

It was new Years eve of 86 or 87.

My idiot roomate dragged me out to the Yonge Street strip which was of course rammed with people.

The only thing i remember is "flashing" into consiousness for about 10 seconds..... I was standing at my stove with all 4 burners going....a plate of raw eggs cracked and sitting on one of the elements...i had on 2 pairs of shorts, 2 shirts, one sock and obe shoe. I came to enough to think to my self "WTF is going on" and then i woke up about 8 hrs later thinking I had missed the whole night.

Mind you doing 2.5 grams of it at one time was probably not such a good idea.

Yeah, used to do it as often as LSD. For the record, mescal, the cacti that agave comes from, is what tequila is made from. Mescaline is just more pure.

Many high priests of cultures in Mexico, and South America, include mescaline as part of their rituals in helping one find their inner self.

Personally, I just took it because it was so much fun. One must remember though, that reality is for people that can not handle drugs, and not everyone can handle drugs. :Graucho

as far as peyote goes, my hat is off to anyone that can choke those fuckers down. I have tried eating them, making tea with them, including them in a damn omelette. but no matter what, the high was not worth how gross those things taste. Plus you have the hassle of removing the strychnine so you do not poison yourself.

We used to shred them in a Foley Food Mill, and dry it in the sun. Then you can make an omlet or just eat some plain.

well, I am sure someone has put it in tablet form, but we used to get it as a capsule, which had the powder inside. that way you can line it up and snort it if you want to share a hit.

It looks a lot like salt and pepper heroin.

Castanada's books have been pretty much discredited, and it seems to be widely held that he made most of that shit up. The first few books are based on fact, however, with the use of Peyote, jimson weed and the actual shaman's practices being at least based on reality.

If you read the later books, "The Art of Dreaming," for example, its obvious that he's just way into the realms of either fiction or lunacy. They're all a good read, though.

I also read an article by him going off on some mad tangent about the "floaters" - those dead cells in your eyes you see on clear days - being a race from another dimension which parasitically feeds off our energy (!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

As for Mescaline, never did it. Mushrooms and acid pretty much did for me before I could ever get my hands on any.:Hollering

2 and a half grams of mescaline is about 5 times a good strong dose of 500 milligrams, and is not far away from a potentially toxic dose.

Mescaline is not bad, beautiful geometric visuals that take over the field of view even more so than other psychedelics. It's a shame it's so hard to find anymore. It's a phenylethyamine, like mdma, and has some similarities, sort've like a cross between mdma and lsd.

Pure mescaline will look like short 2-4mm cyrstals, somewhat needlelike, like miniature quartz crystals, white to clear. It's light, so a strong dose of 500 milligrams will form a pile that will almost cover a quarter. It will need a large gelatin capsule to hold it all, a horse pill. Try 250-300 milligrams first.

Plant extracts are typically a dirty looking powder, pure cyrstals can't form. Sometimes plant extracts come as bottles of very nasty tasting green or brown syrups. Plant extracts aren't as nice as chemically pure cyrstals.

Be prepared for some episodes of nausea as it comes on. This passes within about a half hour, and the rest is pretty pleasant. lasts about 6-7 hours, and ends more easily and sharply than lsd. Be rested when you take it, or the comedown will be groggy and unpleasent.

The casteneda books are mostly fiction, and the drug reports aren't that accurate.

Dude when you tried Salvia did you feel a distinct feeling like a circular force was running through you..like you where standing in a tornado? Or did you laugh uncontrollably till you where scared?


As far as mescaline goes...we used to get it in little barrel shaped pills...like baby tylenol.

All, and I do mean all, of the "little barrels" that were called mescaline were actually lsd in "microdot" form. Chocalate chip mescaline was what they used to call it around here. Real mescaline, like I said, is light and bulky, it doesn't compress much, even powdered and pressed into pills it forms a pill about 1/4 inch thick and 5/8's to 3/4s of an inch across.

If it was small, it wasn't mescaline.

I've done small amounts of harmaline, both chemically pure and plant extract. I've always wanted to work with it more, it's supposed to be especially interesting mixed with other psychedelics. It was called "telepathine" by some south american researchers for it's supposed ability to promote telepathy.

Yeah harmaline makes up one half of what's called the "Force and the Light". DiMetylTryptamine being the other half. I think its a modern day twist on the ayahuasca method. Harmaline by itself won't do much but when taken in conjunction with most anyother substance it can produce EXTREMELY PROFOUND/Scary/Dangerous results... It truly is an amazing extraction.

I used to take mescaline quite a bit, in the early 90's. It was going around pretty heavily in Nashville. One night I took a bunch and just walked around downtown Nashville all night with some friends... another night I walked around downtown by myself. It's wierd... it's mostly just like LSD (you can get a little tense, you peak about the same, etc), but there's something strange about it. There's really no way to describe it to a person who hasn't taken it.

As far as blacking out goes, that sounds like you took something other than mescaline.

never actually done mescaline, but i've had many positive expieriences with many different varieties of mushrooms. and if you liked fear and loathing you should get 'where the buffalo roam' it's like the sequel, but it was written and filmed in the 1970's and starred bill murray as hunter thompson. it's some good shit.

there is tons of mescaline in Montreal... I heard it was a pretty bad drug but I never tried! My friends did it a lot and they used to mix it with beer and drink it! But once I saw what they were doing after I didn't want to try it! LOL

Wow... it was hard to believe my friend when he told me about "telepathine" -- but he swore he tried it with a small group of people and they were able to jump into each other's minds together... and afterwards played back and forth for a while with his girlfriend... sounds like a bunch of horseshit, but I'm pretty damn curious... supposedly the government was doing research w/ this drug through a university -- my friend's friend was some kind of researcher on this drug and saved a little bit after the research ended for his close friends to try...
