I believe it. I've been fighting the flu for a month now. I've been functional, but barely. Everyone at work has been feeling real bad as well, with body pains and the whole works. This happens every 60 years (timed with the cycle of the Sun...interesting)

There are a bunch of sail boats in the marina a few blocks from me... If that shit hit's the fan.. I'm picking my favorite boat from the lot and will find a few hotties for the ride. Then I'll be heading to some Islands I know of in the middle of no where.
I'll then do my best to repopulate the planet with the hotties I take a long. :winkwink: |
They have been killing birds for what ... 2 years now ? and they start freaking out NOW ?!? why ?
|
It's not if it strikes, it is when will it strike!

1968 with the Hong Kong Flu outbreak. In 1957, the Asian flu pandemic resulted in about 70,000 deaths. The most deadly influenza pandemic outbreak was the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic, which caused illness in roughly 20 to 40 percent of the world's population and more than 50 million deaths worldwide. Between September 1918 and April 1919, approximately 675,000 deaths from the Spanish flu occurred in the United States alone.

It would effect everyone equally. Young, old, healthy, fat, skinny, pornstar, webmaster, etc. http://www.birdflu.org.cn/ |
all we can really do, at this point is get as healthy as you can...vitamins, fruits and veggies. Wash your hands all the time and carry antibacterial gel.
I was at the grocery store the other day, and they have a little wipes despensor by the shopping carts, the only people I seen use it was the elderly. I use to work for Dillards for years and I can't believe how many females, didn't wash their hands! Then they went on to touch the damn door handle, grrrr! Use your paper towels that you used to dry your hands off with, to open that nasty ass handle! |

So I think it's a good idea. |
I wonder how much we could have gotten done with regards to disease control/prevention if we put the Iraq war budget towards it.
Old George is keeping us us scared about the wrong things. |

|
I dont feel like registering & getting more shit in my email
can someone cut & paste that shit here thanks |
hype, hype and more hype. sure its a possiblily but it has been for some time. its not new yet, its been around for a while but if it mutates as they say we could be fucked.

If something like this hits, being prepared is vital for the survival of humans. That being said, how many Bush supporters are confident that the current White House could implement safety measures?

everyyear there's multiple BS theories on the next killer flu to wipe out a huge % of the population and so far it aint happened, i aint holdin my breath for this one either.
|
i know what percentage of the population i'd like to see it wipe out, but i'm keeping that though to myself :evil-laug
|
i gotta say, i am not that concerned. i am young and relatively healthy.
but if i die, shit happens i suppose. cheers. :glugglug |
It is not a matter of if, it is a matter of when. They have feared the repeat of the 1918 pandemic for years. When a similar virus happens it will spread so quickly due to modern transportation that the effects will be catastophic.
The world economy will slow, millions will die, if it is like the 1918 strain age and health will not be an issue, that virus was indiscriminate. It will be a question of vaccine creation, never easy because of the lead time required, luck and genetics who lives and who dies. In the grand scheme of things getting rid of a few hundred million humans will help the earth regenerate! Housing prices will drop too! |

Can't fucking wait. I'm willing to gamble on survival of the fittest.
|
You have to take any virus that doesn't have a vaccine in sufficient quantities to protect the population extremely seriously.
|
the flu is supposed to be controlled and they revived to make a vaccine
|
|
We need one which takes out much much more than 5% of the population..
|
I'm ordering a supply of TAMIFLU! I aint gonna wait on my government, after Katrina I know I'm on my own.
