Any guitarists here on GFY>>>?

I wanna see if anyone here has git-fiddles, and what kind they play.

I use to play about 10 years ago, and I wanna get back into it heh now I can afford a nice guitar, I'm shopping around and still I never know when to end a sentance... :error but besides that fact, my fav growing up was always Ibanez. I am partial a bit though to some of LezPauls Ive seen, especially the starburst ones...

Anyone here play? Whatcha got.

xxxice 10-02-2005 05:49 PM

DWB 10-02-2005 08:23 PM

1965 Fender Jazz Bass

At one time I had an army of git-fiddles... mostly Fenders, teles and strats. Also had a 6 string Warwick bass and a Kubiki with the drop D on it.

Violetta 10-02-2005 08:32 PM

hello hello my friend. I 25 years old, and have played for 13 years now. I have a Gibson SG. I like the gibson guitars very good, and think my next guitar will be a Les Paul (standard or classic) or Firebird! If NOT a Gibson, I will buy a Fender Stratocaster or Jaguar!

Feel free to check out my band: http://www.rockatansky.com

selena 10-02-2005 09:17 PM

The munchkin has a Fender Squier Strat.

My dad is a luthier. He makes very beautiful instruments. He has some instrument that he uses to tune the wood...I don't know the details of it, because I zone out when he starts talking about it. I didn't inherit the music gene. I just know that they are awesome to look at, and that there is a huge time investment in each one.

demented 10-02-2005 09:32 PM

I play a Les Paul with a JB in the bridge. At the moment I use a podxt for practice and recording..

I also have a Les Paul jr. w/ a P-90..

Yeah I play guitar but I am more on the acoustic songs.

GFX Wiz 10-03-2005 05:49 AM

Been playing since 1983

I have an Ibanez RGT220A Prestige:

http://www.americanmusical.com/item-...T220A-NTF.html

and a Jackson SLSMG Soloist

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/...base_id/106061

Both are gorgeous, awesome playing guitars.

A guitar is a very personal item -- what others like may be completely outside of your tastes. You may love to play country and therefore be better suited to a Fender Telecaster...if you like anything from Blues to Hard Rock, a Les Paul will give you a nice, warm, fat sound. If you like a a brighter sound, a Fender Strat is the way to go. And there are myriad manufacturers offering so many different models that all fit in to one of those common tonal ranges. So, it really is up to you. But if you love Ibanez' be sure to check out their prestige guitars...I would kill to protect mine -- I love it.

I've got 5 guitars. Each of them totally different. Les Paul. Ibanez Iceman. Flying V etc...

The most important aspect of buying a guitar is how it feels when you play it.

I have picked up $4k Les pauls and hated how they played. I have picked up $400 no name guitars and love how they played.

Pick your price range and start hitting music stores and play as many guitars as you can find in your price range before you decide.

Really depends on what you want to play. I'm partial to metal, so i've got an Ibanez S 470 DX, and a BC Rich for show. They're great fun, although im not a fan of the Floyd Rose Tremolo system, tends to break the strings far too often. I have yet to meet anyone who has broken the low E string 3 times in a week =/

If you want some classic rock go for Les Paul, am stuck between getting a Les, or another Ibanez... hmm.

I am up to about 20 now. Most, I have assembled myself. http://warmoth.com
He's right though Jay, just go out and try a shitload of em. Doesn't matter what everyone else plays, you have to go with what feels good.

DeanCapture 10-03-2005 10:45 AM

It's been way over 10 years since I played guitar but I just recently picked up a used Ibanez from Craigslist.com and started picking again. I have a small amp arriving today that I bought from MusiciansFriend.com. Having a fun time with it - but the fingers are taking a beating after all these years :1orglaugh

onceapilgrim 10-03-2005 10:50 AM

I have a 1986 kramer pacer that i bought when I was 16. (lent the money off my mum which took 2 years to pay back.
I also have a Zakk Les paul & a takamine and taylor accoustics.

Mr.Anderson 10-03-2005 10:52 AM
