Do you scuba?
 

Just got certified and having an amazing time. Wondering who else here is into it because I would love to arrange dives at future conventions where the geography permits.

I've been certified for 7 or 8 years now, it's a great sport. I know a few others here dive, would be great to get a webmaster dive going at some of the shows.

Did it once, loved it. Cant wait till I do it again.

getting into it right now.. a friend of mine owns the biggest scuba shop in western Canada. Far-L ever stop up to vancouver for dives?

I'm a PADI Open Water Instructor.... Been doing it for over 10 years. Try and do some underwater photography. Wall Dives rock too.

I noticed yesterday that my local shop arranges trips to dive up there frequently. I will definately let you know when I am coming up. I am dry suit equipped and ready to see a sixgill!

I do a little diving once in a while, maybe for our Costarican Bash we could get something set up, it´s just amazing diving down here... :thumbsup

I have been certified since I was 16 from NASDS back in 1986. I actually moved to the Cayman Islands for 4 years just to dive and work. Great shallow water reefs and awesome wall dives. Great place to see Eagle Rays and Marlin hugging the wall at 130'.

I will do the Red Sea one day.

Nor Cal. About 90 miles north of Sac. But I'd be up there if there's a good place to dive and dive buddies to go with! :)

I did the PADI cert and looking to add photo/video to my skill set and want the Nitrox cert asap too.

I am planning to come down to do the Farallon Islands cage dives... of course I am one of those that saw "Jaws" at a very impressionable age...

I've done it a pool at a resort, but never got the guts to go into the ocean...Watched JAWS too many times! :disgust

No great whites, plenty or reef sharks, stings and turtles though.

Took classes a long time ago in NB .

I couldn't even go in a pool after seeing that movie as a kid...

i've been snorkeling many times, unfortunately never got around to getting certified. i was too young the last time i went to the beach and haven't got around to it yet.

hopefully i can get a cert when i goto FL this winter, i would love to do some diving around there.

california coast dives do not compare with tropics.

get a plane ticket to cebu, PI. then head south off negros oriental.

check out apo island, etc. warm clear water, no dangerous currents, amazing marine life.

and amazing women also.

Still... I do hear the kelp forests by Catalina are first class and world renowned... won't know until i tried 'em all...

I prefer cold water, to be honest with ya. I think there is more to see. Yes, there's a lot of life in warm water but it all starts looking the same after awhile. Cold water rocks!

I read one of Cousteau's favorite spots to dive in the world was Puget Sound right here in Washington.

Don't know about those other spots but I do know we have the world's largest species of octopus right here...

One thing I've never done but it's on the list... That and skydiving.

I'm NAUI certified, also, and have a SLAM cert. I worked in a dive shop all through college and we did the majority of our dives in FL- a lot at Ginnie Springs and Vortex Springs. Every 3 months we'd charter a bus and go down to the Keys and certify 30 or 40 people at a time. They'd do all their open water dives, night dives, and their deep water dive at the Duane.

Far-L, if you want some really great diving, try Honduras.

Yep, I heard Belize was blown out but making a comeback and Honduras is still great. Do you know any specific spots?

Any of the Bay Islands will be fabulous. Roatan is really popular and will be more crowded, but Utila is also a great place. There are tons and tons of dive shops, everywhere you look. The reefs are spectacular.

I love diving! My first ever was in Australia, a great little spot called Manta Ray Bay and of course the Barrier Reef. After that, I was hooked (small wonder!)

I've been wanting to do this for quite some time. Did a lot of snorkeling in Mexico and it was amazing. I couldn't dive too far down when I wanted to though. How much does cost to get certified? I know there are a few places around here that do it.
