I quit smoking Cigs 8 days ago

its going well so far. i even went out thursday night, got loaded and had cigs all around the vicinity that we were in, and still didn't breakdown like i normally would. i think i finally did it, the cravings are gone. i've been drinking a ton of water and cranberry juice to try and flsuh out the toxins faster.

Ross 09-10-2005 01:23 PM

Keep it up buddy. I bet you'll feel much better for quitting. I've never even tried smoking before, but I try to get my mum to stop all the time and she can't do it.

sonofsam 09-10-2005 01:26 PM

Congrats.. keep a pack of gum with you, and whenever you start craving just chew a piece of gum...

make sure to have gum handy after meals and after sex, or else your cravings will drive you nuts

seeric 09-10-2005 01:27 PM

i wasnt really a hardcore smoker anyhow. a pack would last 3-4 days, but i could really put them away when i drank liquor. i already feel more focused, don't cough in the morning anymore, and the air even smells good to me now and food tates better. i never understood how badly cigarettes kill your sense of smell and taste. i quit by eating candy. when i crave a cigarette i ate a piece of candy. the first four days were kinda hard, but now it seems like its getting easier since i made it through my episode of getting drunk and not breaking down.

Babagirls 09-10-2005 01:27 PM

wait till after its been a month or two, you'll forget that smoking was even in your life. i stop and think sometimes "wow, i cant believe im still smoke free" lol once the cravings are gone, you're good to go (and since you said you havent had cravings, you should be good now!)

yeah, i am still approaching the next time i get drunk cautiously. i like to think i am invincible when i am drunk. i just kept telling myself that night we drank how bad i was going to feel the next day if i would of smoked. i'm gonna proclaim victory at day 30, although i know that now its a lifetime battle to not smoke ever again.

how long until my lungs recover though?

pornstar2pac 09-10-2005 01:34 PM

smoke weed. it's better

Rhesus 09-10-2005 01:37 PM

The most important thing is that you realise smoking is a poison and a death threat, and that, while smoking, you're mutilating yourself, however nice it may feel on first sight...

And it will take some 8 years I believe for your lungs to recover. Only after 10 years or more you're in the same risk group as non-smokers for developing brain infarcts, heart infarcts and all kinds of other vascular conditions. Yes, smoking is BAD in every way it can be!

thanks. this definitely puts it in perspective.

Rhesus 09-10-2005 01:40 PM

Anti-smoking campaigns always focus on lung cancer as the result of smoking, the damage it does to vessels is much and much bigger though.

Try to find a laser cessation clinic near you. Its been by far the most successful treatment ever with more than 85% effectiveness. It started in the UK almost 30 years ago so you should be able to find one somewhere nearby.
Its just coming into the states and is curing thousands of people of this addiction. They have one here in San Diego ( Matrix ) its been all over Channel 10 news. They did a test with one of the news team about 4 months ago and he is still not smoking and this guy smoked for 40 + years trying everything to stop. So if laser therapy worked for him i can work for anyone ?

Nonsense, just realise how bad smoking is and stop.

thats what happened with me. it made me slow, not focus well, cough in the mornings, unmotivated to do things physically, like run or exercise. my attention span and memory were affected drastically. and i learned that the way i was smoking them i was swallowing smoke and carcinogens into my stomach. i also noticed that since i quit, my acid reflux has subsided and i dont have sharp pains in my stomach anymore. i feel like i am healing.

EroticySteve 09-10-2005 01:58 PM

Awesome Airek. Keep it up. More power to you. If i only had the same willpower for cheeseburgers.

MikeVega 09-10-2005 02:00 PM

I'm glad to hear that your stopping and it's going well ... :thumbsup keep it up

Yes - lung cancer, esophageal cancer, gastric cancer, bladder cancer - name a cancer and smoking knows its way around it ;-)

Sosa 09-10-2005 02:24 PM

awesome, keep it up!

gdog 09-10-2005 02:34 PM

You know it is proven that smoking will stunt your growth, you could of been like 5'6' if you had not taken up smoking.

;)

Hope you are feeling better kiddo, you sounded like you were hurting yesterday.

CuriousToyBoy 09-10-2005 03:10 PM

ER!C L!VE 09-10-2005 03:30 PM

Hey Bro,

I quit smoking about 7 years ago. I went on an antidepressant called wellbutrin aka zyban and as a side effect, it made cigs taste like ass. In addition to the price of smokes increasing to damn near $5 a pack, I had no problem never buying another pack.

I used tabacco products for about 9 years before that (chew and cigs)

toddler 09-10-2005 03:46 PM

sooner or later i'll quit, think it'll be this year though.

seeric 09-10-2005 03:57 PM

thanks you guys. yeah the price isnt the deterrent for me, its the amount of money i feel i am missing out on if i got my focus back and desire to live longer. i'm jsut glad i made it through getting drunk and not reaching for one, that is a big indicator to me that i will make it.

Furious_Female 09-10-2005 04:01 PM

I read a sign in the doctor's office once that said after having quit for 5 years, your body will be like you never smoked at all.

candyflip 09-10-2005 04:04 PM

Smoking cigs is disgusting. Crack is so much better.

gdog 09-10-2005 05:01 PM

Club sucked last night, ASR is in town and Foreplay could not even pull air. Not sure what happened, tonight we should kill it though and tomorrow another one. I feel like a damn stripper being back in the game and staying up late.

I might need to start smoking. ;)

seeric 09-10-2005 05:21 PM

At our new strip club we are now only 1/3 area to be smoking and from 1st July next year ZERO smoking.

I smoke when I drink, so at least that will help me cut down I imagine.

:helpme

Screaming 09-10-2005 05:28 PM

Doctors say for every cigarette you smoke, you take 1 minute off of your life expectancy. So if you smoke 60 cigs, you will die 1 hour before you would've died if you hadnt smoked those 60 cigs.

Spunky 09-10-2005 06:10 PM

Good for you..good luck with it
