Just saw an interview now from Nato,none us Goverment members has asked for help of anything,didnt you guys see how they barbeque they own "leaders" in us on cnn,damn,the governor was so angry that he started to cry and hang up,its shocking,WTF is going on ?

24 countrys offering help,since Monday,but nada in response at all.....

I didn't voice my opinion on which is better but I am certain that he will be criticized either way. It happens during nearly every natural disaster. Same thing happened during Andrew.

When they returned the generals, instead of receiving a hero's welcome for winning the battle were placed on trial and executed for not saving the naval crews from drowning. This is the nature of Democracy.

We citizens should remember to also recognize the good. Drop the senseless politics. It's petty. It would also be good to discuss how many people's lives have been saved instead of focusing on imperfections. There are tens of thousands of people being rescued. Many thousands of people owe their lives to evacuation warnings and plans. The western way is pretty good but it is not flawless.

We should be recognizing the workers with the good and what they've done for the people, but in this case we also need to look at our leaders for the horrible job they've done in this situation in general.

The poor, homeless, handicapped and much more were basically left to die before the storm hit. Now that we have many survivors, they're still being left to die. I don't want to hear this "looters are preventing" crap either, what it comes down to is that not nearly enough aid was sent to help in the first place. What was it, 2000 troops originally sent? What a fucking joke. These petty and unorganized street thugs wouldn't be running things if our leaders had done thier jobs.

I don't blame the population for looting, stealing and being aggresive now. They're being treated like animals and expendable civilians when in reality they're tax paying American citizens. Anyone here would act the same if they were left for dead by "the greatest country in the world", I know I would.

As mentioned before loads of countries have offered help from day 1. The
reason why it isn't on the way yet is because the US hasn't requested what
type of aid they need most.

As long as nobody is saying....here's a list of things we need right now and
authorises foreign countries to start shipping it in it's not going to happen.
Countries cannot just fly in and start doing shit without authorisation and
knowledge of what is needed where.

All these threads about countries not willing to help or donate is 200% bullshit.
There are tons of offers but they are waiting to get accepted and directed.

US air force would shoot down " relief carrying " planes ..,.

Then Bush would say:

" We are at war. The reliefers are trying to take over our own mess ... This is against the basic believes of this nation.... goes against our freedom of letting people die ... "

Actually, I have an Ivy league education. Now THAT is a minority but I don't believe I qualify as uneducated. Do you think sheepishly repeating the criticisms of the US government as seen on FOX News makes you some sort of a genius? The same criticisms that are levelled at nearly every politician during category 4 and 5 hurricanes? Last year after Hurricane Charley, Bush was criticized for flying to the disaster area. People said he was trying to win election points (Similarly Clinton was criticized for bombing Iraq in order to divert attention from the Lewinsky affair). That's all just politics. The truth is they are called natural DISASTERS for a reason.

Canadian provinces and Feds offered up their mash units and the military offered up their dart team(disaster assistance response team) and mash units back on Tuesday. The mash units could have been on the ground and running by Wednesday; fema is now saying their mash unit at the airport is overwhelmed. The dart team could have been up and running by yesterday or today. They could have been processing the filthy flood water running in the streets of NO into drinkable water packed in bags for 50,000+ people a day. The response has been thanks for the offer, thats all.
Greece offered up cruise ships too house people that have been left homeless. That hasn't been accepted yet; at least I haven't heard about the ships sailing yet.

Canada had the DART team on 1hr notice. They also had generators, water-purification units, medical units and dive teams to recover bodies all on stand-by to help.

As for answering your question, the thing that bothers me is the lack of response to the worst disaster in our history. You are the one protecting him, for some unknown reason.

Seriously answer me this. Would our response have been faster had all of our troops been where they are supposed to be? How about if the money would have been spent on the marsh project to protect NO instead of re-building Iraq?
