How much you spend per day on food?

Not asking you fat webmasters that eat quanity.. im talking quality.

I did a little calculation and i seem to spend $50-$75 on food per day average.
I dont eat much but i got spoiled eating out virtuallyt every day and having
sushi lunch etc.. it starts to add up (specially when you have a cousin over
and he tells you he spends that amount per week for his whole family!).

Is it allowed to enjoy life and just spend cash on good food or am i over the top and should i start buying bulk at the grocery and start preparing my own sandwiches every day?

Make me feel bad and tell me about your $5 budget..

throwdown 08-24-2005 06:59 PM

$50-$75 A DAY?! holy fuck

thats a lot of packs of ramen

xlogger 08-24-2005 06:59 PM

one dolla

mrthumbs 08-24-2005 07:01 PM

Actually.. i cant imagine doing it for less. Im a bit over the edge lately but i cant see myself eat for under $25-35 a day unless i do my own cooking etc..

Life is expensive.

Spunky 08-24-2005 07:02 PM

Don't you like to cook?..I rather enjoy making a great meal and saving my 50 bucks for a rainy day..or beer, whatever comes first

Breakfast $5
Lunch $10
Dinner $15

in betweens $10.

$40.

Even if id limit myself to mcdonalds i couldnt live cheaper than $30 a day.
Do the math.

Very true.. where i live i pay fucking $2 for a simple bagel. It adds up really quick.

Not related but i saw a documentary about streetlife and how expensive it is for a homeless person to maintain basic living.

Cant buy in bulk or make your own coffee so it adds up to $20-$30 a day.

I feel like a fucking homeless guy.

throwdown 08-24-2005 07:08 PM

I rather be a homeless man then be in 50-60k debt w/ a family and 2 kids

mrthumbs 08-24-2005 07:09 PM

another bad thing of eating out every day:

i cant eat shit from the supermarket or homemade stuff.. its fucking disgusting.

Great california rolls today.. yukimi icecream.. ahhhh

khs 08-24-2005 07:13 PM

5-10 if that

Logan Videos 08-24-2005 07:15 PM

Normally, I eat some cheese burgers with fries + coca-cola. It normally costs me around 20$ per day. :thumbsup

Same here.. Rarely over $20 unless it's out to eat at a nice place for dinner.

Babagirls 08-24-2005 07:48 PM

i dont eat out. i'd rather buy a ps2 game or something instead. plus, i used to be a cook for 4 yrs before adult so i can cook better than most resturants ;)

i'd say about $10-$15 a day (depends on what kind of meal)

stevo 08-24-2005 07:49 PM

Breakfast: Cereal or Bagel = $1 day
Lunch: Sandwich $3, maybe go out to eat once or twice a week $10
Dinner: Usually make a nice meal or go out $10-30
Snacks: $5

Total: $19-$46

pornguy 08-24-2005 07:54 PM

Not too much. We try to eat at home, and food from the grocery is actually cheap here.

Wilbo 08-24-2005 07:56 PM

About $15 a day if I eat 3 meals

Furious_Female 08-24-2005 08:05 PM

Between $5 and $200... depends

PixeLs 08-24-2005 08:06 PM

$40 will be enough for me.

Downtime 08-24-2005 08:08 PM

average with my weekly groceries included is probably around 15-25 bucks

Hustlin Entertainment 08-24-2005 08:44 PM

this is easily resolved, two bucks for 2 hot dogs made in front of me, 75 cents for a diet coke $2.75 once a day :)

freesexxwebsite 08-24-2005 08:54 PM

$2 to 5$ is enogh for me

Doctor Dre 08-24-2005 09:00 PM

I used to spend between 30-75 bucks average ... Since I've started cooking ALL my meals ... eating healty (lots of chicken and stuff), It's probably from 5 to 10 bucks nowdays ... BIG fucking change in cost ... and I feal much better too (been working out a lot too so that explains it).

Vitasoy 08-24-2005 09:00 PM

$15 - $30 Depends usually around that much

phogirl69 08-24-2005 09:05 PM

Not that much really, I just buy groceries and eat that. When I used to have a real job many years ago I spent more because I ate out a lot.

When I go into the real world and actually have to leave my house I tend to spend more on food...

But when at home (which is most of the time) I don't really eat too much... Plus we cook a lot. My boyfriend enjoys to cook, and when we eat at home it barely costs anything.

Plus I eat to live, not live to eat :upsidedow

If you can afford it it's fine, if you like food you should enjoy it. I am just the type of person who is very CHEAP and doesn't like to spend money on food, since it only goes in and then comes out, so I don't care that much bout it.

Sly 08-24-2005 09:06 PM

I spend about $200 a month on food max, depending how often I eat out. If I don't eat out, about $100. I really don't eat much and am extremely thrifty thanks to my mom.

I don't eat out. I eat good food. I don't eat quantity (imagine that). My, my girl's and our dogs food combined is about ?150-200/week. I'm not even being cheap. Sometimes I buy more expensive shit, like a whole reindeer tenderloin (80?) etc.. but I usually eat cheap food, cheap doesn't mean bad. :) I love to cook.

If you can afford $70/day and want to use it, do. I could afford it too, but at the moment I can't even eat out. I'm on an island 20 miles from the closest restaurant :1orglaugh.. I don't eat out when I'm in town either, except on special occasions. I never leave my home anyways ;)

However as I'm currently located at my summer cabin and I can/do fish a bit and eat that, we can get mushrooms etc for free (and it's not because I'm cheap, it's because it tastes better if you catch/collect them yourself) :)

Actually you have to look at it in context. Eating out all the time seems to cost more, but then factor how much your time is worth shopping, prepping, cooking, and cleaning up. If you buy at the grocery store and spend 2 hours a day making meals, that's time lost. $50 to $75 a day grabbing the meals out can be a lot cheaper than 2+ hours of my time per day. :winkwink:

Well. thats it.. the excuse ive been waiting for and goddamn you are right!

To downsize the budget it would at least cose me 1 to 1.5 hour fixing shit up.
That time would cost me $100 so my eating habits are a fucking bargain..

Thank you.
