That's a respectable score. 90% of amateurs don't break 100.

sfera 08-23-2005 06:09 AM

well i guess its the mentality and your short game then who fucks up ? when u play alone, and practise on the corse,do you let you self more free ? do you hit longer and more accurate drivers, are u getting on par 5 in 2 sometimes ?

And when u play tourney you are not even close to do,what you do when u go around the corse alone ? tell me i am right :)

Damn golf is 90% mentality,i know so many good scratch, + players, who is not even close to get into challenge tour in europe at all, because their head is so over heated.

Sure,we play Troon,Old Corse, etc, every year, its so close anyway,1hour 20 min with airplane, love to play golf in Scotland, btw my coach is Derek Crawford, ring a bell ?

OldSchoolJim 08-23-2005 08:34 AM

for sure the game is ALL mental...i mean you have to have the skillz too...but if you cannot prepare mentally you do not stand a chance....

Consitency is the biggest problem in golf....and that requires an amazing amount of concentration....especially for 18 holes a day for 4 days.....

Yeah that what i meant :) if you can play 88 from back tee, then no long way to break 80 and play 78-79,,,,, an 80 round in golf for amateurs, says nothing, and its really good.

This tour i play on in Scandinavia, last 3 days, 2 rounds and cut,its so hard to get the right focus indeed, keep practise, and swing soft ;)

I've been playing since highschool, and yeah, it can be addicting. Especially if you find some nice courses you love playing on.

For years I was a shade worse than Happy Gilmore. I could drive it like a motherfucker, prolly because I was holding the club wrong, and treated it like baseball. But everything about my short game sucked.

Prolly 5-7 years ago, I adjusted how I swing, and hold a club. Now I have incredible control, and decent short game, but lost the ability to hit the long ball. Every now and then (like this past Sunday) I get a hold of one with my 3 wood, and drive it 200 yards. But those are the exceptions. My game's gotten a lot better, but mainly because of the short game, and putting. I used to always be over 100, now I am normally in the 60 or 70's depending on the course.

I am not competitive, and mainly do it for the fun, and shooting the shit with the fellas while out on the green. But occasionally I do corporate scrambles, or events, so I have to be just good enough to not be a liabilty. :winkwink:

TheDoc 08-23-2005 09:51 AM

10 handicap here.. Probably a bit higher now it has been a few months since I have played.. I get it back fast though, a few days at the range and a good round and I'm back. I have broken par a few times, but I have as many great days as I do shit days..

Before things got a little busy around here with 2 kids I was playing 3-6 days a week..

Thats great :thumbsup i work with my swing 10% and 90 % in my short game,so thats the way to go,you can be as good as a pro when it comes to putting, its all about hardwork.

If you shoot 60`s and 70`s,you should try to play a mini tour in the us :upsidedow

i am semi pro, and play Nordic league, against guys from challenge tour + some from the european tour, and i am a sctratch player, but hardly shoot in the 60`s maybe 4-5 times a year, but i play a lots on 72 and up,and my average is 76 this year (shitty weather:) so if he shoot that,he should consider make it a living !

This is so true! I played incessantly in my late teens/early twenties and then stopped for about 15 years before taking it up again a couple years ago. And I was hooked again.

It's funny, we've been in Greece since May and since there are only 5 courses in the entire country, I didn't bother to bring the sticks. Even still, every day I think about my swing and can't wait to get back to the range. When we get back to Cali in late september, I'm quite sure how I'll be spending my first day :thumbsup :thumbsup

your talking about getting a hold of one and hitting it ONLY 200 yards with a 3 wood? i mean who drives with a 3 wood other then when its needed? then saying you shoot in the 60's and 70's? honestly, if your going to bullshit at least know what your talking about. LOL

anyways, im about a 10 handicap. haven't been inputing my scores, but i shoot low 80's consistantly with the occasional round in the 70's. also i might add i play with out a 8 or a 9 iron and i broke my ping driver so im using an old 975D titelist. been playing with this set for the last 6 months. i think its about time i get my clubs fixed and regripped lol. fuckin had 3 occasions where my club flew out of my hand in the last month haha.

fuckin 3-7 hours a day? shit i wish i could do that. used to do that when i was younger and played lots of tourneys. now im just more of a golf junkie playing 3-4 times a week with a 8 year old set of king cobra 3 irons half of them broken. fuckin rusted scotty cameron putter, a 5 wood i don't even use, and a driver thats not even mine with a extra stiff shaft that fucks me.

oh did i mention i bought those irons when i was 12? shit ive only grown 2 feet since then. the lie angle is all fucked so the toe smashes into the ground everytime i try to come down on the ball. :1orglaugh

anyways, viking how much do you think it would cost to get my irons and my irons and driver reshafted, new grips, etc?

Tytan 08-23-2005 10:24 AM

You lot would lose all your money to me :)

SetTheWorldonFire 08-23-2005 10:26 AM

Sosa 08-23-2005 10:30 AM
