Heh.. I've never heard the theory that it's the SUV owners driving the price of gas up.. that's sorta funny.

I'd probably start thinking about buying an alternative vehicle.. maybe a hybrid, although I'm not buying anything the size of a matchbox. Hell, I got rear-ended by a SUV last week.. All I got was a squished bumper... in a little alterna-car I'd have been dead.

:2 cents:

EroticySteve 08-22-2005 09:58 AM

I don't care what people pay for gas in other countries. I care about what it costs here.

Frankly, if someone wants to talk about obscenity laws. I propose that you ask the average America what obscene is and they will say paying more than $1.50 for a gallon of gas is obscene.

Nudity is natural.

$2.70 for a gallon of regular is not natural.

abadfish 08-22-2005 10:03 AM

I always find it funny that we complain about gas so much in the US when it's still pretty low compared to much of the world... When I was in Europe we rented a car for 3 weeks and the gas seemed really cheap until I realized it was being pumped in liters and not gallons... :)

WebTitan 08-22-2005 10:04 AM

not stop, but limit my just hoping in the car to go for a ride

Penthouse Tony 08-22-2005 10:06 AM

People will just start carpooling more.

split_joel 08-22-2005 10:10 AM

fuck i just got my new car and it gets 44mpg but im still spending 150 a week on gas, its at 3.00 dollars over here and its getting to the point where i need to stop driving

PussyTeenies 08-22-2005 10:10 AM

O come on! Let's do some math shall we:

1 gallon = 3.785 liter
1 euro = 1.24 US dollar

The prices here in Holland are about ?1.40 a liter at this moment. That's 1.4 x 1.24 = $1.74. So the price in Holland per gallon is 3.785 x $1.74 = $6.57. So please don't give me any 'if it hits $5...' crap, because people just get used to it very fast. Nobody here in Holland stopped driving because of the prices (and they increased very fast over te last few years). People give up other things, but not driving (and they shouldn't).

Mr Exotic 08-22-2005 10:29 AM

My wife drives 30 miles to work and 30 miles back home everyday. Our Explorer gets about 14 mpg that she drives to work everyday. I dont even wanna talk about gas mileage on our other vehicle, hahaha. Well only you red necks out there could apprecaite my other vehicle, haha. 1970 Ford F100 with a 360 big block V8. Just rebuilt some of the carb last night and she runs like a champ. It gets about 8 maybe 9 miles to the gallon.

Needless to say that after what gas has done in the lasy year we are looking at a Saturn, :)

XclusiveVeezz 08-22-2005 10:32 AM

Ill just switch to riding my R6 everyday :thumbsup

Sosa 08-22-2005 11:02 AM

I hardly drive now which I like. If I don't head out of town for a day or weekend then I can usually go around 3 weeks or so without filling up. Def have cut back on trips though

OG LennyT 08-22-2005 11:22 AM

starting to carpool now

You drive 2000 miles a week? Where the hell are you driving? Pepsi and Cheetos from the snack center do not count as gas. :-)

I think people will become more conscious of where and when they're driving. Being more efficient can save a LOT of money. Run all your errands in one afternoon instead of each day of the week.

axelcat 08-22-2005 11:30 AM

the more gas prices go up the less traffic we will have in los angeles, that would be great

You're forgetting that Holland is smaller than many of our States. If you haven't been to the United States, things are a lot more spread out (except the MAJOR metro areas) which causes public transportation to be a lot less efficient and desirable. It is very hard to compare the two.

Last summer a few of my friends went to Germany. They didn't rent a car and very rarely used a taxi. If I were to take a trip to Miami or Las Vegas, I would either rent a car or make use of taxis often.

jukeboxfrank 08-22-2005 12:11 PM

I love when people say it costs more in some other country. Like that matters, you pay higher taxes than us on gas but you get free heath care and other services
for that money. apples to oranges .

KingAsher 08-22-2005 12:13 PM

It's at $3.50 for 91 down the street from the office, I thought I was seeing things, but I guess gas really has doubled in just a year!!

Mr. Mike 08-22-2005 12:14 PM

no but I wont fill up as often, lol. Right now at 2.79 a gallon it takes about 90 bucks for a fill-up.

Babagirls 08-22-2005 12:14 PM

i rarely drive anyways since i work at home but i definatly already cut back ALOT of my driving trips i like to take in the summer time, thats for sure!

and me & the boyfriend are lookin for a new car, one that gets better gas mileage. we live in milwaukee, wisconsin and we're paying $2.80/gallon (and that price is going up again this week AND next week).

dready 08-22-2005 12:20 PM

Hopefully it will hit $5 soon!

I think the US gov't should start a gas tax. Only for automotive gasoline, not diesel or home fuel or anything else. Start at 10 cents a gallon and increase it by 10 cents every month for 2 years. Put all the money into alternative energy rebates and research.

We already have a gas tax. We also already have rebates and grant programs that will help people switch to alternative energy.

sfera 08-22-2005 12:34 PM

i will still drive but ill bitch :thumsbup

pornguy 08-22-2005 12:35 PM

We are paying about 2.35 to 2.45 per gallon here in Mexico. Mt truck gets about 17 miles to the gallon, so we have already started to limit the driving that we do. I just can not see putting that much of my hard earned money into someone elses pocket.

polle54 08-22-2005 12:36 PM

haha you losers whining about those prises we give $7pr. Gallon in DK

pornguy 08-22-2005 12:36 PM

What is the price in Panama now??? When we were there about 4 years ago, it was about 3.10 a gallon, and we were paying about 1.15 in miami.
