30 lb goal by Vegas show...

Ok, so you all know I'm a thick chick. Ya, I know, I'm cute anyway, lol, but I'm really loving some threads that don't come in my size, so I think I'm going to shoot to lose 30 pounds by the next show. There are about 20 weeks, so it's well within the 1-2 lb/week loss that is healthy.

I feel motivated NOW..problem is I tend to lose steam a few weeks in. So does anyone want to partner up and try to lose with me? :thumbsup

Or anyone want to sponsor a new wardrobe if I get there, haha? j/k, lol, but hey, it was worth a shot. :1orglaugh

thaifan99 08-13-2005 01:43 PM

good luck with it............ the first 10-14lbs isnt too hard........... after that it gets tough lol

NY_TIM 08-13-2005 01:45 PM

Go for it Chase.. Good luck!!!!!

And, thanks, 2HP. *hugs* I love myself as I am, too. But loving myself as I am doesn't mean I don't know there is always room for improvement. :thumbsup

Go for it! I wish you the best in pursuing your goal!

Tala 08-13-2005 02:03 PM

whoohoo chase!! Go for it girlie! You can hit me up anytime for a motivational kick in the seat of the pants as needed. :)

I've lost about 15 since I left Mexico. I cut out all the sodas I had been drinking and replaced them with water. It helps lots. :)

latinasojourn 08-13-2005 02:13 PM

losing the weight and keeping it off are two different concepts.

you must do these things to be successful.

1. lifestyle change
2. get nutrition knowledge (lots of stuff online)
3. eat ONLY high nutrition foods, and eat only foods that you don't like too much, but are good for you, this prevents overeating.
4. avoid all sweet foods, but do count calories, write down everything you eat.
5. i would suggest an "atkins style" diet to start on first 30 days (but not stay on)---this will allow you to actually see fast weight loss which will empower your psychology. in two weeks you will actually feel more energetic and begin to lose tightness in your waist, and you face will be less fat.
6. first 10 days you must shrink the stomach so you "feel full" on less food. once you get past the first 10 days (and you are on an atkins or south beach style diet you will be able to control your hunger).
7. keep a weight reduction journal, with a friday "weigh-in"---your goal of 1-2 lbs per week, is achievable.
8. after about 3 weeks into the diet incorporate exercise---suggest not adding exercise right at the start because it might exhaust you.
9. drink lots of water, very cold or ice water is best.

good luck.

Yup, that's one of my tactics, too....I'm enjoying my last 12 pack of the stuff in the red can as I type this, lol. Well, not the entire 12 pack at once, haha!

I downloaded a Carmen Electra Striptease Aerobics torrent and I love it. I haven't gotten back into the swing of using it since I got back from Miami, though, lol. I need to get the whole DVD set, I think it's only like $35 bucks. The file I downloaded doesn't offer the make your own routine shit the DVD has, so I am getting kinda bored with the one I have, haha.

I did the Body For Life plan a while back and I felt really good on it. http://www.bodyforlife.com/ I think it's very nutritionally sound, the only thing is that it's a lot more expensive to eat healthy, lol. But I'm moving back in with my mom here in a few weeks-with both of us getting divorced, we think it makes the most sence to lean on each other a bit. Since I'll have someone to split the bills with, I can afford to eat better. Plus, she could stand to use a few, too, so maybe if I do it, and I'm oing the cooking since she works outside the home, it will benefit both of us, as well as setting a good example for my munchkins.

I just want to clarify..I still love the curvy girls, and I am not doing this to conform to anyone's ideal. I just want to buy more slutty clothes, haha! :thumbsup

Sly 08-13-2005 02:16 PM

Cutting out soda and sugary drinks is a great way to lose weight AND you feel so much better afterwards. I stopped drinking soda for 6 months last fall, lately I've been drinking it again but really not that much, one can a day.

Staying away from fast food and snacks is another great way.

A lot of people skip straight to working out, which is a bad idea. Before trying to burn off excess weight, you need to cut out the unnecessary intake (food), THEN start burning off the flab. Do both and you'll be good to go.

That sounds like hell. The only people that would be willing to do all that are the hardcore health people, and they don't need to lose weight!

I don't know why people make such a big deal out of it. Its really simple: eat healthier, do a reasonable amount of exercise and you will see results. And eating healthy isn't all that expensive either. You don't need to buy diet this and special that. Just buy stuff that is actually GOOD for you.

Frozen chicken breasts are fairly reasonable and quite healthy. Fresh chicken, the whole chickens, are incredibly fair priced and you can do ANYTHING with them. Fish isn't all that expensive. Turkey is cheap.

Potatoes, rice, pasta... all very cheap. Yes, people say stay away from these because of the carbs, but they are still healthy and very cheap. Eat moderately and you'll be fine.

Fresh vegetables you can always find fairly reasonable at a farmers market, and its straight from the ground too so its even better.

Peaches 08-13-2005 02:25 PM

I'm with you Chase! 30 pounds by Vegas is my goal too (it was actually 30 pounds from Vegas 2005 to FLL and I obviously missed that one.........in fact, gained 10 instead, lol!).

Let's do it!! :)

everything you say is true. my comments are based on the original poster's idea of taking off a certain amount of weight in a given time frame.

it is doable, but you are correct, for most people it is not so easy, and i don't want to sugarcoat the easy part. it requires more than just diet, it requires a certain mindset, or commitment.

for many it will be "hell". and many will be unhealthy and overweight like 2/3rds of americans. if a diet program was easy more people could stay on it.

statistically if you value life, and if you desire longevity, you need to start when this young woman is starting, when you are young.

kudos to her for starting, if she succeeds (and it is unlikely she will if she has the idea it will be easy) it will dramatically change her life for the better.

you must be on a plan, and think must think about your plan every day, every hour, to be successful, especially at her starting size. and you must tailor the plan to what you can handle, it is a very individual thing.

but you must see some success early on to motivate you.

chase 08-13-2005 03:19 PM

SHOPPING motivates me. If I had some Torrid gift cards dangled in front of my face, I'd be just fine, haha! I'm going to have to reward myself with those. *grin*

myjah 08-13-2005 05:18 PM

Good luck to you girl, I have no doubt you can do it! I always need someone to motivate me to eat right and exercise so we should hook up and help each other out. :)

I cook a bunch of chickens at the begenning of the month and put them in small packages ... you can do so many different things with that ... lasts for the rest of the month ... at 2 bucks a pound, you can't go wrong . And it's actually better then fast food (taste).

YOu should find someone who wants to fuck like rabbits for 30 minutes each time, like 10 times per day for the next 30 days....

That's gotta be good for like 40 lbs

Babagirls 08-13-2005 06:10 PM

MetaMan 08-13-2005 06:16 PM

stop eating dorritoes and run daily and you will lose weight in no time. you will find your skin and overall appearence also looking healthier,

it IS easy to lose weight, all you have to do is stay committed (stop eating dorritoes).

Babagirls 08-13-2005 06:24 PM

here are some quick things that should make you lose 10-15 pds (easily) in 2 weeks:

-no fast food
-no ice cream
-no soda
-dont eat within 2 hours of your bedtime
-eat HALF of the portions of food you eat now

:)

sfera 08-13-2005 06:31 PM

Jim_Gunn 08-13-2005 07:18 PM

It's doable, to lose that much weight in that short a time, but you have to really, really want it. And that means a pretty strict diet every day, cardiovascular excercise 3-4 times a week and most likely some form of weight training if you want to keep those pounds off. I lost 35+ pounds of fat over eight months or so with a regimen like that.

chase 08-13-2005 07:19 PM

Thanks for all the support!

I don't eat Dorito's, lol, Meta. Actually I don't eat enough, I think..I don't eat all day, then I eat dinner, and I have a little bit of popcorn or something after the kids go to bed, but I don't go to bed til damn near morning, so I'm not eating right before bed. I am very knowledgable about nutrition...I tend to research thoroughly before undertaking anything, haha. So I know that's bad. I'm basically telling my metabolism, "hey, who the fuck knows when you're gonna get some grub, so hold on to what you've got!". Not all fat people sit around eating Oreos all day. And I barely ever eat fast food..it's way cheaper to eat at home, and being a single momma, I have to watch my pennies.

My biggest problems are: 1) Not eating small meals throughout the day, 2) Drinking soda, 3) Not being consistent with my workouts, and 4) Not drinking enough water.

Yes yes yes! That's something a lot of women are afraid to do-weight training...but you have to keep building those muscles or you'll lose them along with the fat and you'll end up smaller, but flabbier than before.

KittyLix 08-13-2005 07:29 PM

Aww, thanks, sugar! I actually am very self-confident, particularly for a chick who clearly doesn't fit the industry standard for "beautiful". But no matter how good I feel about myself, I know there is always something I can do to improve myself, and I'm already so damn smart and funny, I can't improve on that! Hahahaha, j/k, lol, I'm not THAT stuck up!

I'd love to be 'in' on this as well! I have been on Atkins and have lost 18lbs of the 50 I need to lose....so, I've got a bit of a head start...but, I still have a ways to go. :winkwink:

Atkins has worked wonders for me so far....the weight just seems to fall off, I'm NEVER hungry (I have to remind myself that it's time to eat) I drink my 8-8oz glasses of water daily and I measure myself every Friday. I weigh myself daily...only because I can't control the urge. :upsidedow

I'm done my Atkins 'induction'...but have opted to do an extended induction in order to continue with the 'faster' weight loss....BUT, in about 2 weeks I will move on to the OWL phase (ongoing weight loss) and begin swapping out some of my dietary fat for more carbs...and so on, and so on....

One thing I REALLY need motivation for is working out. I haven't done so much as a leg up since I started eating this way. :Oh crap

I bought a Yoga DVD and a very cool yoga workout outfit (DVD is still in the wrapper and the clothes still have the tags on) :disgust
