Oil/Gasoline Prices All Time High Again???

WTF???

See? Soon as I get ready to get a mini-rv some evil warlord hikes up the oil/gasoline prices again.

News said if the prices remain this high airlines will have to cut back flights??? WTF?

Don't even reply to this thread. We've worn ourselves out arguing about this shit so much it's worthless to argue any further.

tungsten 08-10-2005 10:35 PM

agreed, its getting ridiculous, hopefully after the summer it goes down

DateDoc 08-10-2005 10:40 PM

I almost bought gas this morning and it was $2.71 but waited until this afternoon and had to pay $2.75 at the same gas station. :Oh crap

bringer 08-10-2005 10:43 PM

Damn too many expenses nowadays...
And take note if the gas/oil increase, everything will do so!

You pay that much for a tank???? How far do you get on a liter? If it's anything under 30kph I would scream.

Why do I have this strange feeling that by this winter there'll be some major battle in Iraq/Iran that will cause oil flow to cease especially to China as the prices go sky high.

Greg B 08-13-2005 09:06 AM

Ha! Oil hits another all time high today. Like 3 or 4 times this week?

Here in California they're saying gas will hit $3 per gallon in a few days? Man, I wanna see this shit for myself! It's already at $2.75 and $2.80

Furious_Male 08-13-2005 09:07 AM

What was it per barrel last year? 25ish if I am not mistaken.

demented 08-13-2005 09:09 AM

$2.59 here for the cheap shit.. that's the highest I've ever seen it here.

Fletch XXX 08-13-2005 09:13 AM

anti-airlines.

anti-pacifists.

airplanes are man's biggest ego trip, its no surprise they will be used as weapons forever. And i do not support man's desire to fly.

what goes up comes down, and when it does I laugh.

man's ego will be his death.

gas is over 3 bucks here.

its been 2:50 for the cheap stuff since before Iraq war.

OG LennyT 08-13-2005 09:15 AM

I saw its over $3.00 a gallon in San Diego... about 2.60 here and rising

OG LennyT 08-13-2005 09:15 AM

Glad I dont drive much anymore.

Scootermuze 08-13-2005 10:48 AM

The only people that try to do something about it are the truckers...

They'll get fed up again and shut down the interstates like they did a few years ago..

The rest of the people won't try to ban together to do anything but bitch and moan.. as with everything else that happens..

Boycotts are a thing of the past..

Maybe we can't do without gas for very long, but we can boycott anything made in other countries. But that's too much of an inconvenience for everyone I suppose..

Fletch XXX 08-13-2005 10:49 AM

i was excited the day the trucks blocked some freeways here.

problem is, as long as the police serve the State - the People's will goes unheard.

they will arrest and take a truckers driving career before they allow them to "say" anything in protest on a state funded road.

Rui 08-13-2005 10:51 AM

Just spent 20? worth of gas which was enough for only 16 liters...thank god my current car doesn't use THAT much fuel (tho I seriosly need to look into a better and diesel powered one soon)

vvq 08-13-2005 10:52 AM

$2.69 here in Michigan for me. fucking outrageous

sad but so fuckin true! :(

alot of people dont understand how gas is the thing that keeps this country going. we've relied everything on gas & transportation that we *need* it to continue living the lives we live.

limo drivers, busses, planes, truckers, business travelers, delivery services (UPS, FedEx, etc), postal service, etc etc.....

whats gonna happen when we cant afford gas as a nation because its way too high & yet, people are still being paid the same?? this country is going to hell in a hand-basket. its more than just high gas prices, THEY DONT SEE THE PRICE COMING DOWN ANYTIME SOON, thats the really scary part. :helpme :2 cents:

2257-Ben 08-13-2005 10:57 AM

It's not the gas prices that are ridiculous... it's the fact that most people continue to pay what the market will bear. The oil companies are raking in record profits every quarter. I heard a report on the news the other day that it costs $1.60 for the Arabs to get a barrel of oil out of the ground. So you can bet your sweet crude that someone's making a shitpot of money.

So just continue to fill up your SUV's and your BMW's and Lexus' that require Premium gasoline and be prepared for $100 a barrel by the end of the year and $5.00 a gallon at the pump.

Since I attended Cybernext in SD in June, I've only put $15.00 in my truck and I only drive it when I absolutely need to. Otherwise, I do my shopping online and let someone else wait in line at the pumps.

theking 08-13-2005 10:57 AM

I just returned from a trip and the highest I paid was $2.89. My gas bill for the trip was probably well over $300.00.

exactly!
i just saw on 20/20 last night that Exxon made BILLIONS in PROFIT since this time last year. BILLIONS OF *PROFIT*!! (so did BP, but not as much as Exxon did).

come on guys, wake up & start doin something about it! protest by not filling up to go "crusiing" or something. every little bit helps :)

Here's a way to do comparison shopping without driving around wasting gas...

JJ Gold 08-13-2005 11:06 AM

Gasoline is nowhere near an "all-time high".

Some people are just naive.

kektex 08-13-2005 11:10 AM

Damn that`s some high prices.I didn`t know prices could fluctuate that much in the same gas station.

Rochard 08-13-2005 11:10 AM

I'm currently visiting SoCal this weekend. I just paid $3.03 for a gallon of gas in San Diego.

You know what - that's fine. I wish they would double the price of gas. It would keep most of the idiots off the road.

TheJimmy 08-13-2005 11:10 AM

The initial shock of personal gas prices going over 3 bucks a gallon doesn't bother me much...

BUT what DOES concern me more is how the gas hike will start significantly effecting all other areas of industry and pricing.

:/

fudpuck 08-13-2005 11:16 AM

Oil prices have doubled in the last year. Currently at about $67 a barrel. Here are some historical prices to compare it to...check out since 9/11...and keep in mind the current is the top of the chart. http://www.wtrg.com/oil_graphs/oilprice1947.gif

Last week it went up almost 2% a day.

Adjust for inflation and look at energy costs as a percentage of GDP. Oil and gas is relatively cheap at the current levels and will not drag the overall economy.

The dollar amount means nothing unless it is a true dollar amount adjusted for inflation.

That chart is fucking useless because it is not adjusted for inflation. In real dollars oil was over $90 a barrel in the 1980s.

arial 08-13-2005 11:20 AM

I'm glad I got myself a 2005 Honda Civic even with all the high gas prices only costs me $16-$20 to fill up. My old SUV would have been in the 60-70's by now.

It IS adjusted for inflation, notice at the top is says in '2004 dollars'. If you have a better graph, show us.
