NHL teams that will do good.

What teams you think will do good this year?

swoop 08-08-2005 02:52 PM

The Flyers of course

jayme_ 08-08-2005 02:53 PM

devils still have the best defense

StuartD 08-08-2005 02:53 PM

It's pretty much a "cheer for your home team" situation now, since none of the teams are what they were before anyway.

Rob 08-08-2005 02:55 PM

Tampa Bay Lightning going for the Three-Peat! :thumbsup

Mr Pheer 08-08-2005 03:01 PM

The coyotes may be the team to watch... was announced today that Gretzky is coaching them this year

Downtime 08-08-2005 03:09 PM

avalanche, and detroit is always dangerous

SinisterStudios 08-08-2005 03:11 PM

DEVILS will and always kick ass

Nicky 08-08-2005 03:14 PM

Flyers and Detriot

rickholio 08-08-2005 03:25 PM

Now that the penguins signed Crosby, I suspect you're gonna see a lot more out of them this year.

JuiceMonkey 08-08-2005 03:26 PM

tb going for the 3peat? might want the 2peat first...

Teams that will win the cup this year:
1. Vancouver canucks.

ibbunk 08-08-2005 03:31 PM

And how many people actually know who went where and what team released who and can honestly say who will be the team to watch. Pittsburg was absolutely horrible during the last season. One rookie isn't going to make them an exciting team to watch. There will be some good hockey this season with all the moves. Some decently good teams picked up some sick players. Definitely going to be more exciting come playoff time. Just glad hockey is back!! :thumbsup

People probably care more about what teams will do 'well'. Who cares about do gooders?

tungsten 08-08-2005 03:37 PM

red wings

lol
I'd say you don't know who went where
Pittsburg picked up:
Crosby
Lemuix is coming back for another season
Sergi Gonchar (best o-deman in the league)
Ziggy Palffy (proven performer)
Mark Recchi
Marc-Andre Fleury has developed a lot since the last time we saw him play

With no centerline and a great passer like gonchar feeding crosby/palffy they will have the best team since they last won the cup.
Am I a fan of the pens? NO

Why did I post this, to prove you wrong

cheers

Flyers signed Forsberg and a slew of other great players. They are the team to beat.

Tampa had the cup last season because of a technicality so yes, a Three-peat. :winkwink:

abadfish 08-08-2005 03:43 PM

I don't have a clue... but I gotta stick by the Stars... :)

Mighty Chin 08-08-2005 03:45 PM

I think teams that were strong before the lockout and haven't had much turnover in players will do the best.......in other words THE VANCOUVER CANUCKS!

technically TBAY is not going for a 3peat... they didn't even *Have* the cup this year, they gave it to old veterans to bring around to their home towns.. whoever wanted it. But I mean if that's how you want it to be...

without khabi they won't do much.. they do have one crazy line, and I love the Canadians on the team, but with the sal-cap they won't be as big of a threat as last year.

CDSmith 08-08-2005 03:50 PM

Not one of you has yet mentioned Calgary?

Wft??

R U all like, nutzo?

The Flames rocked in that last season and playoffs. How soon we forget.

Good, I'm glad you beat me too this point. Didnt feel like typing that much. :thumbsup But yeah , they did well. Very bummed My L.A.Kings didnt get Palffy back to go with Pavol Demitra. He will be missed.

Tip for poolsters, take Palffy. Get him in the first round if you have to. A bit of an injury risk, but then so is almost anyone. If he's healthy all season with that lineup he'll be top 5 in scoring.

LA fan here too and yes, Demitra and Palffy would have lit up the lamp with the best of them all season. Oh well. Now we got Pavol, JR ....

:helpme

JuiceMonkey 08-08-2005 03:54 PM

they got lucky no doubt if canucks had bertuzzi/cloutier we would have beaten them..

with a streaky goalie, he just pulled a giggy from the year before.

They lost all of their heart to other teams, but they should make the playoffs.

I was in Calgary for game 6 against the canucks.. was a fun time :)
Great series though

Since there is no way to know that you can't say what would or would not have happened with any degree of certainty, so your opinion is basically that... opinion, not fact.

Attributing their success that year to luck etc... well, I'm not even going to touch that. I find that comment ridiculous.

Calgary has the best player in the league right now in my opinion. They have several other standout players to back him up, and all I'm saying is that they are a team that was worth being mentioned in this thread long before I posted.

of course they are worth being mentioned... but this is hockey everyone is going to sit around bashing all the other teams, I mean it's not like Calgary had a great season they could have missed the playoffs easily without that nice run they had.

Also taking it down to one goal in game 7, on a 3rd string goalie, an injured number 1 player and bertuzzi MIA.. we held our own fairly well.

Myst 08-08-2005 04:22 PM

hahahha
you dumbass
we were without gauthier, reinprecht, mccammond, etc etc etc (i think half our Dmen were playing in the minors that same year)

calgary will be awesome with amonte and langhow now

The flyers have to be the favourites, Ottawa is always up there and the defending champs if they can get another solid goalie... maybe cujo
