I'd worry that I was always dancing at the end of some guy's string. I suppose since I wasn't born beautiful, being smart has been rather important.

Maybe if I was gorgeous I'd think differently, but probably not. I prefer doing my own thing and being in control.

If I was a woman I would definitely want the higher IQ since surgery can help your looks if you want but nothing can help if you're an idiot.

I would take brains over beauty. In this industry, good looks and a nice set of tits will get you much farther as a female, but in the "real" world intelligence will take you much farther without having to always rely on somebody else for your well-being.

If I were a near-genius but hideous to look at, I would like to think that I could earn enough money to hire a damn good plastic surgeon. Even if all the money in the world could not make me beautiful, I'm sure it could make a huge improvement.

Besides that... looks fade quickly. Then where does an ex-beauty queen find herself? Probably brooding in a dark corner somewhere wishing she had chosen brains.

I love all the chicks opting for brains. Think of it this way, you probably already hate a lot of stuff about your body/looks, what if you were butt-ugly and had enough brian power to comprehend this? Do what's best for you, choose ignorance. They say it's bliss. :)

I would rather be beautiful and average in intelligence, I don't know about beautiful and dumb. I would definitely not want to be brilliant but ugly.

Luckily I am both beautiful and smart, not brilliant, but probably above "average smart".

In today's competitive world you should ideally have BOTH, looks and brains in order to excel!

Someone who is average in intelligence but very good looking is probably more likely to get ahead in life than someone who is super smart but ugly. Sad but true.

I'm so glad to be a member of the weaker sex. I don't have all those drives for power and ambition brought on by unnecccessary intelligence. I'm so glad men love me and want to take care of me all my life because I am beautiful and fragile.

I think I need to go pop out a few children now.

Also I read that there was a psychology test done where in jobs interviews or similar sittings people who were more conventionally ATTRACTIVE or very good looking were more likely judged as being "more intelligent" than their uglier peers even if that were not the case!

People who were uglier, were tended to be PERCEIVED as not being as intelligent as the good looking people, even if they ARE more intelligent.

So the truth is that by just being good looking and not very smart, you can still get ahead in life and are likely to be PERCEIVED as intelligent, even if you are not. So if you are good looking and somewhat intelligent (of average or slightly higher than average intelligence) you are already ahead of someone who is brilliant but ugly.

So I am glad I am not ugly because ugly people have more to prove even if they are smarter. I know I get away with a lot with more things because I am good looking. But I am thirsty for money and pwwer though.... so it's easier for me to achieve those things because I am not ugly. Being attractive can be a good tool in life if you have other skills, i don't care if my opinions are not politically correct, but that is what i think.

Look at the miss universe contestants for example; not only are they beautiful but some are very accomplished; attending law schools, graduated from top engineering schools. There are other opportunities for women to move up these days besides marriage.

This is not true, most "modern" men want to marry women who are their equals whom they can relate too. Most doctors that I know married women who were doctors as well!! They usually meet mates/dates in univeristy and in the workplace who are their equals or peers. I don't know many wealthy men who went to graduate school who married someone with a GED no matter how good looking they are!

whislt I don't disagree totally with you, I do have a question for you. What would happen if - god forbid - you are in a fire tonight and you are burned and plastic surgery won't return you to your current level or beauty..how do you cope then if you have built such an importance on your beauty. Same thing goes for women that think it will proivde them with a better mate...would they be there if you lost your beauty ..which one day most of us will.

Well, that's not really my opinion that beauty is important, that's society's opinion, in general society places a lot of importance on looks as according to the study I posted about above. I am not saying if that is right or wrong, but unfortunately that's the way that it is so if you happen to have looks you might as well accept that sometimes you might have a slight advantage, no matter how unfair that may seem.

Well, if someone were to have a disfiguring accident, all they could do is just learn to live with it, just as anybody else would have to. What else could you do? Hopefully that person would have other skills they can depend on, but if you have booth looks and smarts it would be rather stupid not to take advantage of all of your assets.

I've read a few studies like that and in North America an 'average looking' male with a university education can statistically expect to make the same annual income as a 'good looking' male with only a high school eduation. I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume the same logic can be applied to women as well.

Actually, before I got my last job I was only one out of 250 people (all computer science graduates except me) that applied for it. I have no degree and the only acedemic credentials I had was that I quit university after 4 years and was a Microsoft Certified Professional (*snicker*). Instead of taking the full MCSE I only took one of the exams knowing that some retard in an HR department wouldn't know the difference and then hope to get to the live interview. Once I was put up against all the guys that have to be hidden in the wiring closet so your clients don't see them the job was mine.
