The "Mean Mom" vid
 

I watched/listened to it, the whole thing. Kind of made me think, I had lots of differences with my mom when I was 16 and therafter. I'm 30 now and I'm still not on good terms with her, because of a similar (while not as bad) temper to that of the woman in the vid. I know she's good and she's always wanted me and my sister to do well, but sometimes she just hurt my feelings so bad I never wanted to see her again. This vid kind of put things into a new perspective for me and I'm trying to understand why she was always frustrated and would snap easily. That thing was food for thought for me and made me decide that I should try reconciliate with my mother, after all, she's the only one I got and may not be around for a whole lot longer...

Any of you in a similar situation? Thoughts?

Reconcile while you've got the chance. I saw that vid last week and while it was amusing in its own warped way, I'd give my right arm to even have a mom to yell at me like that. My dad was actually a lot like that crazy mother, but he included violence as an added bonus. After 10 years of silence, I finally reconciled with him. It's hard to forget the past, but it's nice having a parent again.

I understand why the woman is crazy. Her kid is in a room full of electronics, recording her without her knowing, and refusing to let her use the car or borrow $50. If my parents ever asked me for money at that age I might be upset but it was never going to be a no answer after they paid for my ass for 16 years. She was stressed, he is a dumbass. I really hope he carries his ass so he can learn what the real world is all about.

Not saying she didn't. My mom kind of lost it too, on a couple of occasions. I'm just trying to look for the cause behind that and trying to see it from her standpoint.

I agree 100%. I recall plenty of times when my mom was this exact same way. I remember it vividly, and it still pisses me off to this day. This is no way to treat your kids unless you want them to hate you.

My mom has cooled her temper now that she's older, I don't think she has the energy to put that much emotion into things anymore. Sure was hell growing up though. Bad memories for sure.

I think you are wrong. The kid is videotaping her, first sign of 0 respect. If I remember correctly she is raising him (or them) on her own and trying to get to work. Of course the kid wasn't as big of an asshole as he is normally, he made the video to show his friends. Of course the mom has snapped, her worthless twat of a son who's at the age of knowing everything is giving her shit about getting to work. Me, I wouldn't go off like her but I understand. I'd just walk in the room, unplug his pc, and take that instead of the $50. I'd be willing to bet if you had a videocamera on that house all day instead of an ambush you'd see the little punks true colors and understand.

I would agree with you and handle it probablly the same way you described. I just dont think degrading the kid like is that acceptable regardless of what he has done.

first of all i don't think parents inherently deserve respect. unfortunately we don't live in a perfect world, IDIOTS undeserving of respect have children all the time. it goes without saying, it is an implied rule, that if you have children you're SUPPOSED to feed them, clothe them, and raise them. I do believe however that kids should obey their parents under most circumstances (assuming the parents aren't clinically insane).

obedience and respect are two completely different things.

there are too many holes in that video to really determine anything, so you idiots need to stop making assumptions about it. perhaps he normally always does obey her but for the sake of record keeping, he wanted to document how insane is mother is on a frequent basis? or maybe he was just antagonizing her for his own amusement? we don't know.

The woman has no reason... ZERO... to talk to her son like that! Like the white trash she is, she assumes she's superior to him simply because she pushed him out. The kid asked her to ask him nicely. He didn't say, "no", he said, "ask nicely".

That woman needed to humble herself a bit, ask her son nicely, and then thank him for helping her.... just like she would (or should) have done if she was borrowing from you or me.

Amazing how I bring up words like "reconciliation", "understanding" and the like, and everyone takes sides bashing either the mom or the kid...

Of course since you think I would be a nightmare to live with, I would have to say you would be the step child left at home to do the dishes and clean the house while me and the other kids are out snowboarding, wakeboarding, camping and going on fmaily vacations and having fun...like we always do.. :winkwink:

My observations of you in this thread and prior threads, although limited, tell me you suffer from a depressive disorder, possibly Bipolarism. I recommend seeing a psychologist who can more accurately diagnose your condition and place you on a suitable treatment plan.
