harass Legendary Lars into buying a real car

yes i know that people who have money, are people who do not spend money.
but really. come on. buy some toys if you have it.

i am trying to convince lars to buy a new car. he got his wife a suv
that she never gets to drive because he is always driving it. he does
have a few cool old cars, but his main transport is a 98? Porsche Boxster.
jesus fucking christ. i drive a car that retails for more than that.

so the debate on the plate right now is...

what percentage of your net worth do your spend on a car?

Manowar 07-19-2005 02:39 PM

tell him to get the SLK he posted about a while ago, they are sexy... and fast if you get the AMG.

karlm 07-19-2005 02:39 PM

I like my toys so i would spend alot on a car if i had it

He should buy YOU a new car, Jane Bond :winkwink:

xenigo 07-19-2005 02:41 PM

If he's smart he'll buy something that's 4 years old. That way it's lost the majority of it's depreciation, and the value won't drop so quickly.

Tala 07-19-2005 02:41 PM

Don't ask me, I don't have a new car and have never owned one.

Penthouse Tony 07-19-2005 02:46 PM

Haha lars and I think too much alike, we spend all our money on real estate and assets not buying liabilities like expensive exotic cars.

That being said I have a new 2006 Infiniti M45 Sport, the payments on this car are $1000 (Canadian) per month. I bought my wife a 2003 BMW X5 4.4i last year as the payments were exactly what I could write off. I don't see the point of getting a vehicle that you can not write off. I would much rather put our money into buying rental properties that generate positive cash flow for me.

I like it when my buddies buy nice vehicles so I can borrow them from time to time and not have to pay for it LOL!

baddog 07-19-2005 02:47 PM

Wrong guy to ask . . . . buy a bike instead. Fully restored knuckle, pan, or pre-AMF shovel :)

ElvisManson 07-19-2005 02:49 PM

tell him to buy a new Long Board.

:winkwink:

Trax 07-19-2005 02:51 PM

he shouldn't have a problem popping out 100 grand for something nice and german :)
fuck the nets worth.. if you wanna buy a car for 100 grand and you have the money... good
if you want one for 150k and have the money... same deal... go ahead and enjoy your money while you can.

Gabriel 07-19-2005 02:54 PM

Contract Troy or Chip to build him a car.

RogerV 07-19-2005 02:56 PM

Just buy a used gremlin

Mayor 07-19-2005 02:57 PM

I can't say shit, I like to drive a scooter

Weppel 07-19-2005 03:12 PM

Having money shouldn't be the reason to spend it, i'm pretty sure Lars will agree with me on that.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

betsy 07-19-2005 03:12 PM

i'm also the wrong person to ask, i drive a hand-me-down geo prizm. it's a sad, sad state of affiars!

Ycaza 07-19-2005 03:13 PM

GUNNER 07-19-2005 04:16 PM

I'd rather drive a Pinto and live in a Ferrari

Lar's invests in houses. they're a much better investment than a flashy car.
he's a smart man.

...or buy a vintage hot rod that'll hold value.

Gunni 07-19-2005 04:19 PM

there is no option for 0%

Have you ever been in a Ferrari?
I'd rather live in a small flat!

Peaches 07-19-2005 04:26 PM

I have to go with the "don't spend money on depreciating assets" group here :) Though I do like those new Infinitis ;)

Kimmykim 07-19-2005 04:26 PM

LOL, Lars, you are such a puss. Just get one fast car and stop worrying about the money, you'll make it back on some stock ;)

Kimmykim 07-19-2005 04:27 PM

And this time, don't get a girl car.

Mr. Jim 07-19-2005 04:37 PM

Sean.....

This became a very big deal to "the panel" we have decided this is what Lars has to buy....unfortunately it has to be this car..... he may put the 20's of his choice though which is nice...

I could see Lars in one of these....

e-god 07-19-2005 04:47 PM

buy a nice car you really like, not what others like. You are living your life only once..
I am saying 'you' instead of 'we' cuz I am e-god :)

it wasn't meant to be taken literally.

"live in a Ferrari" as a figure of speech... meaning, live in a very nice home, a luxury home.

and yes, I've been in a Ferrari. I agree, they're too small, I'm a kinda large fella.

That ride makes me wet

chadglni 07-19-2005 05:01 PM

I don't blame him. I got rid of the last vehicle I purchased new and don't plan on getting another one. For some reason I get sick losing thousands of dollars for driving out of the parking lot.

DateDoc 07-19-2005 05:03 PM

I thought Lars was getting an SLK 55.

sonofsam 07-19-2005 05:04 PM

yah dude, its time to buy a real muscle car
