Lakers get Kwame Brown
Yeah Great trade for the lakers, butler for brown. He is very talented and very young, watch out western conference. :thumbsup :thumbsup
|
He is exactly the type of player that Jackson wants. Talented and yet hasn't been able to play to his potential. Jackson will bring that out in him. He is very moldable right now.

he's still really young going to be an interesting year for the lakers and it's really all up to kobe and his attitude

Butler has produced, Kwame has potential and hasn't really produced. Butler also has a good chemistry with Kobe and Odom. So I would say the Wiz got a better deal. It will take a year or two in order to determine if this was a good trade for the Lakers.

Looks like a nice trade for the Lakers. They put Odom back at his natural position, SF, and bring in Brown at PF.
|
brown is soft though and if Phil can't toughen him up it could be a bad trade
|
he will fit in perfectly in LA and lead them to last place in western conference. :thumbsup :1orglaugh

Phil is going to build a tough lineup from young players.
still long way to go before the season starts, lots more development i seek from the Zen master. :smokin |
The lakers are one player away from the title

Yeah, but unfortunately they traded that guy away (Shaq). A lot of teams are within Shaq of the title.

Yeah, too bad that player's name is Shaq. :winkwink: |

No trade with the lakers is final until I see a press conference. Hell and even then, remeber what happened last year with the payton trade... Its all rumors for now! IF it goes through it is a nice addition for the lakers but a real shame to be giving up a player with buttlers skills. If they add another scorer/defender like Daniels, which is the rumor going around then this move will make a lot of sense. Brown at best is a 10/10 guy hardly the impact player the lakers really need.

Kobe is such a dickhead that I'm sure he'll break Kwame's confidence if he doesn't produce immediately. Besides - how can a player develop when Kobe won't pass the ball??
Only thing that Kwame has going for him is the Zen Master. Bad trade for the Lakers. Shaft |
The Lakers need all the help they can get.
|
should be a good trade for both teams

I'm kinda partial to Caron, before he was traded he was my favorite Miami Heat player. Good guy, great player and will be good for years to come. He avergaed 22 pts in the month of April for the Lakers and was the second leading scorer for the Lakers last year. Kwame averaged 7.0 pts per game last year. The highlight of his career - Scored a career-high 14 points vs. L.A. Lakers on 4/2/02. Hopefully Phil can get production out of this guy. |

by the time phil's 3 yr contract is up, this team (if its nucleus) stays together will be a top contender. kudos to phil for taking on that challenge
|
i think Phil's main goal is to bring out the best of his boys,
make Kobe pass the ball more and have those big men pick up from there. Phil does really inspire any player on and off court, that's why LA took his expertise back to where it all started. but surely he's not aiming a championship caliber team not within two years. Teams like Spurs, Detriot and Suns are still solid group to contend with. :smokin |

WORD... I have been saying all along that Odom is a stud when playing small forward. But his is an average power forward! Great move. We had too many small forwards. Although I do agree that Butler has a big upside and I hate to see him go. |

And the 6 years before that I believe... he is always in the to 5 assists for SG's |

LOL @ the Kwame Brown glorification.
Let me give you the real Kwame Brown: -Nearly uncoachable, simply not interested in Basketball (feels it's a job and life that was forced on him due to athletic skills, has NO interest in developing as a player) -Was called quote: "Fucking Faggot" during a Wizards practice by Michael Jordan (verified by three other players who were there within earshot). MJ was as shocked/frustrated as the rest of the Wizards organization that this then-potential superstar was just another lazy fuck with no future. -Suspended by the Wizards DURING their last playoff series, for conduct detrimental to the team, essentially Brown started skipping practices and getting high, ala Ricky Williams, meaning he didn't care if they flat-out cut him. -Jackson being able to "get Kwame to his full potential" is the most laughable thing I think I've heard from casual sports fans who have no experience/idea how these athletes behave besides what they catch on Sportscenter each night. Jackson called Bryant "uncoachable" in his last book, and Bryant actually wants to be a superstar. Kwame Brown just wants to get high. I'm sure he'll be REAL open to Phil's ideas about hard word and dedication...ROFL To sum up: Kwame Brown is a talented but totally unmotivated player, who was forced into the life due to his sheer genetic heritage of height combined with speed. He wants no part of it, but must do it to perpetuate his lifestyle of getting high while not having to work for the rest of his life in a "real" job. He is not the savior for the Lakers, and will be quickly forgotten once the season starts. PS - Sheep in this thread: Do you always let others do the thinking for you or is that just a GFY phenomenon? Research is your friend to form your opinions, not some talking head on a sports show. |
I like the trade, however they are also giving up either Atkins or George, both of whom are decent players, there is no way to tell right now which team got the better of the deal, it will take at least a few months into the season to determine that, it all depends on chemistry and whether or not Jackson can pull that potentional out of Kwame, which is what I'm hoping for. I also like the fact that Odom will be going back to the position he was meant to play, which will definitely help the Lakers out. Finally I think we need to get rid of that dud Mihm, he is pretty fucking worthless, the Lakers need to put Bynum in starting from game one and let him mature on the court not on the sidelines, plus I'm sure as a rookie he will be more productive than Mihm.......
