Day 3 of insomnia!!!!

It's been three days and I haven't slept for shit! I finally fell asleep last night at 5am, but was up by 8am! I am usually the kind of person that sleeps nine hours a night. I worked out twice today and just took a super hot bath, hoping I would be exhausted by now. Well, I am sitting here, totally wired... WTF is wrong with me!?!?! ARG!!!

BukkakeBrown 06-13-2005 12:31 AM

pimps go through this shit from time to time

tical 06-13-2005 12:31 AM

we playing with any new drugs lately?

MetaMan 06-13-2005 12:31 AM

u need to drink more booze, smoke more weed or have more sex, combine all 3 in a night and you will be out like a light.

S P A N N O W 06-13-2005 12:31 AM

SmutGiant 06-13-2005 12:32 AM

More booze?? I only drink at social gatherings. As for weed... don't have any. Stewie is in SD, so no sex for me. :( I have rubbed several out already though. No such luck yet...

clickhappy 06-13-2005 12:39 AM

It's a side effect of the new age of constant and faster information. Your brain has to take in everything faster than ever before, and at a constant pace.
It gets to the point where you go to lie down for some sleep, but the information doesn't stop... you just keep thinking about this and that and figuring out what to do next on several projects and bills you need to pay and the conversations you had on icq that day....

it can be overwhelming.

I'd suspect that it's because you are on your own, you're keeping yourself more busy than usual.... more occupied. And at the end of the day, your mind can't shut itself off... it just keeps racing.

You need to slow down your mind to get the sleep you need. Either by unpluggin for a while, finding some way to relax yourself completely, meditating or just what ever you end up finding that works for you.

This should explain your insomnia. Its all the in the mind.
Get yourself off for a few days. No television, computer, telehpone, etc.

I have this at times too and I think it is even more common in summer. Hope you sleep soon!

clickhappy 06-13-2005 08:41 AM

girl, i feel ya pain.

i've been fighting insomina for 3 months now. i've refused Ambien by my doctor (cuz people get really hooked on that shit easily) but he did put me on another kind of meds that helps me doze off. well, im starting to develop a tolerance for it so i might have to resort to Ambien.

its destroying my life..my relationship with my family, boyfriend, work, and life in general. And i used to be a "champion sleeper", sleeping EASILY for 9-12 hours every day.

My doctor seems to think its due to lack of movement during the day (even though i clean the apartment everyday, work out, run around town doing stuff). Im thinking about actually getting a job offline (part time, of course) so that I can get my LIFE back.

Insomina is no joke.

swedguy 06-13-2005 10:47 AM

I've been ok for the last 3-4 months. But the 1.5 year before that was pretty bad. Slept like every second day or so.

In the beginning you're just so fucking frustrated about it. But after a while you just have learn to live with it. When your body wants to sleep, sleep. If it wants to be up, stay up. Don't fight it :)

You're absolutely right!! I do need to turn off my brain! I am normally a very hyper person and usually collapse when it's bedtime. Lately I have been more busy with work, and even more physical than normal. Once I lay down for bed, I still can't turn off my thoughts. Last night I walked away from the pc, turned off the TV and laid in bed forever... I finally ended up turning the TV back on at 4:30am...

I have used ambien for a few years now. Only need it every so often and I must say it would be damn hard to get an addiction to it. I suppose it is possible but pill wise ambien is pretty damn low on the list.

chadglni 06-13-2005 11:12 AM

Some of my best ideas have come after 40 hours of solid work. Don't curse your insomnia, embrace it.

read a really boring book - like right now I want to buy a home so I'm reading a bunch of books for first-time homebuyers & learning all about mortgage rates & blah, blah, blah. That combined with Valerian & you should be out like a light. :thumbsup

don't feel too bad, i can not fall asleep unless the TV is on or there is noise in the background. pitch black and quiet, i'm up all night with my mind racing. give me some distractions, i'm asleep in 20 mins.

try some classical music plugged to your ears...or drink some warm milk...or some scented candles..or read some thick book...usually when the eyes gets so tired..it will eventually make you feel sleepy...anyway, hope you finally get some good night sleep..peace out!!
