Little Eden Cay was originally offered at US$3,250,000.00.

The price is now reduced to US$ 2,950,000.00 and the island is being offered for TENDER with a closing date of June 15th, 2005.

This price includes freehold title to the island, and all improvements made to the island, including the three houses, boat, and furnishings and fittings to the houses as listed in the attached ?inventory?. The island comes fully staffed, and ready for exclusive rental.

The current owners, Martin and Jenifer Thomas are artists and designers. Amongst their previous projects is La Dolce Villa, a private villa rental in Umbria, Italy.

The owners will personally host an "Open Home" on the island between May 15th and June 1st for those interested to view the island prior to placing their tender.

It looks kinda like the island in the intro to the show. A little.

Anyway, there really IS a "Gilligan's Island" for sale but there are no pics and it's not really impressive.

It was probably used for exterior shots in the opening footage..or when scenes opened while the rest was on a soundstage in Hollywood.

it does look like the original island a bit.

generators

Power
Currently Little Eden Cay is served by a Dayton 40,000Kw generator, providing both 110 and 220 Volt capacity. Back-up facilities offer a further 10,000 KW. In keeping with the owner?s ecological sensibilities, it is envisaged to take advantage of the almost constant breeze that favours these islands by installing a wind turbine that will provide for all the island's power needs. The advantages in this would be twofold: The turbine is a completely silent power source in contrast to the hum of a generator, and more importantly, aside from initial cost of installation, the turbine would provide a permanent power source, and self-sufficiency in terms of fuel requirements for the island.

i think ill buy it

Fizzgig 06-08-2005 12:10 PM

Can I have a corner of it if you do?

taibo 06-08-2005 12:17 PM

Gilligans Island is on the Windward side of Oahu in Kaneohe Bay. You can see it from the H3 highway right before the Marine Base. Noone can visit the island. It is home to lots of rare birds and animals and is protected. Only the opening credits of the show were filmed on THE ISLAND. The rest is a Hollywood set.

This isn't that island. I see THE island every single day.

FilthyRob 06-08-2005 03:16 PM

A bit off topic but related.... is it possible to buy an island AND political sovereignty? ie., you're buying your own country?

Vendot 06-08-2005 04:31 PM

I wouldnt touch an island like this unless it was on "high land".

Remember the tsunami? More coming soon to a shore near you. On a serious note, long term youd have to consider the possibility of the threat of flooding. With extreme weather patterns more and more frequent, it might be a risky venture.

pornguy 06-08-2005 07:15 PM

Cute little island but over priced. There are a few in the Keys with a better price tag, and location.

it does look like the original island a bit.

The island you see in the distance at the beginning is an island called "Coconut Island" or Mokuoloe. It is located in Oahu's Kaneohe Bay and is the home of the Institute of Marine Biology. The two tall pine trees in the middle of the island are still standing after all these years.

When you see the "Minnow" sail off to "GILLIGAN'S ISLAND" on that infamous "three-hour tour" (during the opening credits for that sit-com) the boat's supposed to be sailing out of an Hawaiian port. Actually, that harbor scene in the opening credits was shot in east Long Beach, CA., at the Alamitos Bay marina. They added a few palm trees to make it look more like Hawaii.

GILLIGAN'S ISLAND was shot on CBS's Studio City lot in the Valley, four or five miles away from what is actually Hollywood. The back-lot island lagoon (four feet deep with a working waterfall) has since been dismantled. Everything else was filmed indoors on Soundstage 2 with one camera and no audience.

An Island like this in the Keys would probably set you back 30 million or more.

As someone who has almost always lived near a coastline I would ask you to take another look at that island and it's cute little cabin oh so close to the water's edge... then imagine a tide rise of let's say 3-5 feet. Monthly occurance most places.

sniperwolf 06-08-2005 07:38 PM
