Whether he has dual citizenship or not, I don't get why they wouldn't have got more info on him or kept tabs. He was trying to enter the country, on foot with a chainsaw, homemade sword and what seemed like a bloodied chainsaw. I'd certainly put a 'red' alert on the guy and be keeping tabs on where he's going.

I'm pretty sure that would violate his rights.

i have friends who were held on suspicion - basically of nothing - for several hours. this guy shows up with several large and dangerous weapons, and they can't politely invite him into an office while they make some calls?

Whats the definition of normal? We cant give the government the authority to detain and track people because they might commit a crime.

How would they track him? Put traces on his telephone, check to see what movies he is renting?

They did, but there was nothing known about the dead bodies yet, so no law enforcement agencies said they should keep him. They contacted everyboyd they could but nobody gave them any reason to keep him. And they didn't know it was blood on the chainsaw. It looked like blood but could have been rust etcThe article said they don't have forensics at the customs office.

They did exactly that. Everybody said to let him go.

Actually, most canadians are pretty normal looking. Some actually blend in with normal people. I wouldn't want any living next door, but I might have a hard time knowing if they tried to hide it. :1orglaugh

They picked him up in Mattapoisett, Mass, 10 minutes down the road from me. Considering the only crime they have there is a dog barking or a couple making out at Ned's Point, it's amazing they recognized him walking on the highway and picked him up.
