World War 2 Nazi Banner signed by soldiers (PICS)

http://www.ww2auctions.com/naziflag/3.jpg

My uncle died a few weeks ago, and my aunt and his mother were going through some stuff that was packed away in her basement and came across an old nazi banner that was packed away with his fathers stuff. She called me about it and asked would I take some pics and research it and try to find more information. All I found out was that several of the names were stationed with the 751st field artillery battalion who among other locations fought mainly in northern france, rhineland and central germany, as well as ardennes (Battle of the Bulge).

This flag was taken from the wall in nazi occupied territory, and signed by alot of brave soldiers, many who show as KIA on the ww2 memorial website.. I thought it was very cool to have a piece of history like this in my hands so I went up and took some pics last night, they arent the best quality but I thought I would share them with you. The thing is pristine, even after all these years. And its huge, 10foot long, and 4 foot wide.

Exactly,. Im not trying to glorify the nazi's in any way. His mother didnt even want the thing in her home but I told her to hold onto it and keep it safe. I imagine these guys probably saw first hand the very atrocities you speak of.

Nah, the auction domain is just one I own, nothing on it, so I dropped the pics there.

Rob 06-02-2005 10:13 PM

That is an awesome artifact you have there! :thumbsup

BradM 06-02-2005 10:13 PM

Too bad. Fantastic piece of history. I would get that puppy sealed up.

Walrus 06-02-2005 10:14 PM

Wow, that's a nice little piece of history salvaged there mdcq. May even be worth something. You don't ahve to sell it, but you could find out from a professional auctioneer how much it might be worth.

xxxjay 06-02-2005 10:22 PM

Fucking awesome!

I would seriously like to buy that. I am a WW2 / history fanatic. If you would seriously consider selling that email me [email protected].

Odin 06-02-2005 10:22 PM

That is a very nice historic piece. My relatives in Germany still have my Grandfathers Nazi uniform, his Mein Kampf, etc etc. He fought in Stalingrad, so alot of his stuff has a lot of historic value.

Marcus Aurelius 06-02-2005 10:25 PM

I think if nothing else I should have it appraised. would look nice framed in glass but not sure how having it hanging in your living room would look when company drops by. :1orglaugh

looks great, certainly an amazing icon of history

a history many would like to see destroyed, but must be preserved for historical purposes

get a case for it

brand0n 06-02-2005 10:29 PM

do what needs to be done and give it to a museum. thats honestly history in your hands man.

Sosa 06-02-2005 10:29 PM

I would def get it looked at as far as an appraisal. Get it sealed up also.

alias 06-02-2005 10:32 PM

No signifigance to it, probably just something the battalion or some of the guys called themselves.

Too bad were are losing that battle right now.

Marcus Aurelius 06-02-2005 11:52 PM

A friends grandmother had an SS armband with a bullethole in it and bloodstained on the white lightning bolts (SS) as well as a picture taken off the german killed for it, a picture of his wife or girlfriend perhaps. It was something her husband had gotten during his time in ww2 I begged her and begged her to sell it to me but she never would, then she died and it got boxed up and packed away, no telling where its at, my wife used to care for her, run her errands, etc...her family never had any use for her it seemed, more than likely they dont even know what they have. I am a ww2 fanatic myself and that would have been a definite prize.

Sad to think these relics are probably rotting away in a box somewhere in homes across america.

DWB 06-03-2005 12:27 AM

Sweet man. Hold onto that.

I own a mint condition civil war musket that has been in the family. Wouldn't part with it for anything.

DWB 06-03-2005 12:31 AM

Oh... I also own some original photos of the Japanese attacking Pearl Harbor. All black and white, mostly planes in the air, ships exploding and on fire. Intense stuff. My grand dad had them and my grandma gave them to me when he died.

I have always wanted to have some Nazi memorabilia though. That stuff (authentic) just costs too much and is very hard to come by. That flag you have is incredible. I would be interested in hearing what you find out about it and the names written. Please post what you find.
