More retardation by the religious right
Of all the problems in the world and especially New Jersey don't they have more important things to worry about?
State Assemblyman Craig Stanley is taking issue with a satanic symbol representing the team, which has won three Stanley Cup championships. "This is an age where symbolism is very important," said Stanley, a Baptist deacon whose resolution to rename the team is to be introduced in the Assembly next month. A new name would be chosen in a statewide competition. http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=2071410 |
OMG Has he no clue about the legend of the New Jersy devil?

Next he'll lobby to force people to stop saying "dust devil" out west.
And those damned evil Dirt Devil vacuums.... forgetaboutit. The only thing grossly in need of censoring is right wing religious nuts, as in stamping them out. Otherwise they proliferate like cancer. |
Religious type give Republicans a bad image, don't think all Republicans are this stupid.
Same with Democrats (but a majority of Democrats are stupid :) ) |
Some people will do anything for attention... I think I just saw a UFO !!!

This is like my dubmbass ex brother in law. He is Irish, as well as Catholic... and he was SINCERELY under the belief that Catholics paid homage to St. Patrick.... I mean, we fought for almost 2 hours on the subject and almost came to blows over this shit... pussy :1orglaugh

Back in the 70's there was this devout ultra-religious minister down in the southern US who was urging everyone to burn their rock 'n roll albums. One of his reasons for it was printed in the paper, him saying "it has a jungle beat that is unholy"...... can you imagine? Now, at the time I'm like 14 years old or so, my older brother and I are in his car talking about this foo. My brother was very militantly religious back then, and I mention the Led Zep song Ramble On, specifically the lyric "I'll just keep on rolling along with the faith from the lord above." I cited that song as an example of some rock songs being good in the way of spiritual beliefs, you know? He argued with me, and said that that line could be....get this....... it COULD BE referring to the devil, because some "evil-doers" revere lucifer as "the lord above." To this day I remember that BS from him, that twisted fundamentalist christian hardline view of the world he tried to infect me with, and I just fucking shake my head every time I think of it. What a complete crock of shit those types of people spew, and I don't know who is more unfortunate, those who spew it or those who eat it up with a plastic shovel. Thankfully, in his older years my brother has become a lot more temperate, tolerant, and sensible in his attitudes about religion and in respecting the beliefs of others. |
Same old shit. Fucking conservatives all pissed off about symbols.
The indians are trying change the mascot names in sports. The atheists want to take the cross off the symbols in Los Angeles and change the pledge of alliegence and remove ten comandment statues from courthouses. The blacks are pissed about the rebel flag in mississippi and want to change the mascot of a 100 year old university. Why the hell do they spend all that money fighting something as stupid as symbols. Fucking religious right!!!!!!!! |
only in the US of A

The name of the team came from an old legend......
The mythical Jersey Devil -- with batlike wings, a forked tail and oversized claws -- was said to terrorize Pine Barrens dwellers in the 18th century after being born the 13th child to poor south Jerseyans and morphing into a dinosaurlike beast. |
Some people are only alive because it's illegal to kill them.

The LA thing is ridiculous. The 10 commandments have no place in a court house. The Pledge of Allegiance didn't originally have under god in it. It was an addition and there is no reason not to remove it. The rebel flag is a symbol of ignorance, oppression, and most things that the south seems to hold as values. Should they be forced to change it? Nah. Let them display their ignorance for all to see. |

The jesus freaks want creationism taught in school soon they'll want Chirstianity taught in school. Public schools are paid for by PUBLIC tax $$$( meaning MINE ) and if you want you kid to know about creationism or Jesus here's a tip, TAKE THEM TO CHURCH. If public school is full of bad athiests then PUT THEM IN A PRIVATE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL. As far as the 10 Comandments. Well as an athiest I'm REALLY going to feel like I'm getting FAIR treatment seeing that. Would a balck man feellike he was getting a fair trial if teh judge came inwearing his KKK outfit? How about a Jew and the judge has a swastika tatoo on his hand? Quote:
I guess people in the majority fail to see the other side since they are in charge of everything. |

Conservatives have an established tendency to place more importance on symbols than on the substance of the symbol in question. Hence their overly fawning reverance to the flag while they're trying to subvert the national qualities the flag represents. Freedom from a tyrannical govt, freedom of the press, speech etc
It plays well in hicksville. |

One thing I have never been known for is supporting any form of increasing censorship, or for those who think it is their mission to control what others can and can not watch, listen to or otherwise enjoy. If you've seen a post from me that indicates otherwise EVER by all means point it out. |

I think I did a pretty good job of getting liberals to demand the change of symbol based on historical events, in a thread, where they are making fun of someone wanting to change a sybmol that was based on a historical event. How can everything go over your head, ALL THE TIME and you never ONCE realize it? :1orglaugh |

It would be really funny to read an explanation of that statement. I promise you that for a million dollars I wouldn't even know how to begin to write that. :1orglaugh How can you guys continue to argue against yourselves and not ever catch on? |

I think you guys are on the same page! :1orglaugh |

I dont care one way or the other. I just realized that in the grand scheme of things, you and that guy are fighting for the same thing and you took the time to start a thread calling him retarded. Does it really matter who you think is stupid after that? |
You should visit beautiful Waco, Texas for a really interesting vacation.

3. Don't masturbate with a vacuum cleaner. Many guys, in an attempt to simulate the suction action of oral sex, play around with a vacuum cleaner hose. For the same reasons as #2, this is a bad idea. Anything that creates more suction than a human mouth can injure you. |

In all seriousness, his statment can be sumarized as: If its offensive to me - it should be changed. If its offensive to someone else, they are retarded. |

Yea, one is offensive and one is not offensive. I get it. Tell the dumbfuck in new jersey that him and his constituants are retarded and they are not offended. Make sure you tell him that the stuff that offends you is not up for discussion, just the stuff that offends them. |
Ok fuck it, let me go ahead and ask:
Do you fucking kids want to get embarassed and owned? |
