Thank you French people

You voted NO, we will do the same on 1 june

ThumbLord 05-29-2005 02:22 PM

if that is true Andre, yes we will !

Terry 05-29-2005 02:25 PM

The french voted no .. for what?

Mako 05-29-2005 02:25 PM

Stupid. Keep resisting things that allow Europe to unify its economic policies (resisting the Euro, voting down the EU constitution, etc) out of some misplaced cultural pride, and you'll wind up further and further behind in the trade gap.

Once China ramps up, and becomes everyone's trade master within the next 20 years (including the United States') we'll all wish we could go back in time and vote YES on things like the EU Const.

Pride is a bitch.

cambaby 05-29-2005 02:31 PM

EU wars?

Fact: Anyone know that China is producing 400,000 engineers EVERY YEAR?

The count down has started until the China takes over!

Terry 05-29-2005 02:32 PM

Oh man, is that what they voted no for... damn!

BradM 05-29-2005 02:32 PM

Has nothing todo with pride.

The EU is great as it is now, this didn't change a lot. HOWEVER, some things that would have been changed what I did not like. Examples:

Our zoo's and some entertainment parcs do get money from our government. In the new situation, The London ZOO, could complain abou this fact, and then the DUtch government has to stop this. Because it was be unfair competition. Same for houses that are for rent owned by the government etc.

Dracula 05-29-2005 03:21 PM

the "Zoo example" is hilarious, no offence justsexxx but give another example....

French people are too scared of the new european markets in Central and South Eastern Europe. French people are afraid they could lose their jobs. German people also. The car manufacturing business is one of the many industries that have gone to CE Europe.
BUT, do not worry! In 15 years we will produce all european cars in China and in 100 years we'll move all to Africa. And after that, the end of the world will come. Simple as that.

nico-t 05-29-2005 03:40 PM

seems to me the only ppl who disagree with the french no vote are the ones not living here! You clearly dont know what your talking about, it has jack shit to do with pride.
The euro made living here, in holland, twice as expensive. We aint have to fall for this twice, so my fucking vote is NO.
Plus its a statement against the government for fucking things up big time, and now they try to suck up to the ppl with their cheap ass propaganda to vote yes. They only show interest in ppl when they want something from us.

What a narrow long term view, no wonder it's being voted down by the uneducated and overly prideful. "We're going to punish you Jacques Chirac! Unemployment is your fault! I vote no!".

Yeah you sure punished them. By cutting off your own nose at the same time. Real smart.

Sarah_Jayne 05-29-2005 03:45 PM

not a hope in hell now...PMQs are going to be fun

FrankHolland 05-29-2005 03:46 PM

I live in the netherlands and I will still vote YES and so will most of the people here in Holland this week.

According to CNN most of the Netherlands is voting NO:

Polls in the Netherlands, which holds its own referendum on the constitution on Wednesday, suggest the "No" camp there is leading by 60-40 percent, and the momentum is likely to gain with the defeat in France, Oakley said.

It certainly is only a matter of time until China takes center stage. If there's one thing the colonial European powers fucked up last century, it was not fragmenting China.

true, but taking a look every day at new polls you can clearly see the "Yes" voters increase strongly and I think by wednesday there will be more then 50% of the people voting yes.

it will be the same effect. Borders open, more polish ppl will go to holland, economy fucks up. Again.

PMdave 05-29-2005 03:59 PM

This will not change anything but the position within the EU of those nations that voted no.
The indiviual things like unfair competition law etc will come thru now in individual rules, voted by the parlement, without any polls. All the no does is delay the process with a few years (max). In the meanwhile the french have no credibility when they need to negotionate in the parlement.

think again smart ass, then form an opinion. Youre not from holland, or from europe, so you dont know what the fuck youre talking about.
When this eu constitution will follow through (and it will no matter what the ppl of europe want, thats the way it goes) it will have a negative influence on our country.

swoop 05-29-2005 05:05 PM

heard tonight that the Euro will decline and the US dollar should start to climb

Mako 05-29-2005 05:09 PM

Yup. All these Econ Professors in France who voted no are going to wake up Monday morning and find that the Euro is worth 10% less than it already was when buying goods.

But hey, they sure showed everyone who's boss! :)

EZRhino 05-29-2005 05:13 PM

Just another reason for more people not to like the French

Theo 05-29-2005 05:20 PM

People vote for or against the european constitution without even having a clue what things of their lives will affect. Needless to say most never read their country's constitution.

VicD 05-29-2005 05:33 PM

i'am gonna vote NO against the european constitution :Kissmy

Let me get this straight....You are against an open market system and for government(tax-payers) subsidized institutions(businesses)???

Cash 05-29-2005 11:00 PM

Why would you vote no to the EU constitution? For being selfish towards the newcomers, and keeping all the wealth to you?
Is that what the Americans did with you at the end of the war with the Marshal plan?

Platinumpimp 05-29-2005 11:13 PM

Good stuff.

Each to his own has always worked fine until now. Look at Switzerland, they don't give a damn and they do pretty damn well.

There are too many culture differences in Europe to have one constitutional law. People are just too different.

Unfortunatly its a dumb thing to vote no..

Its foolish pride: you think that voting no against the const. means voting no to EU (thats how it works in a lot of european simple minds) but guess what:
you are ALREADY riding the EU bus buddy.. and these were your safety belts
and you just chose not to wear them.

this is stupid. watch all countries in EU, even the ones who didn't enter EU yet (Romania, Bulgaria) and you'll see the same situation.
