It's official - Google's PageRank is no more!
 

If you take a look at the Google PageRank here - http://toolbar.google.com/ - you'll notice that they just took out the PR meter that was on there.

Goodbye PageRank.

Maybe they just haven't updated the whole serction there. The screenshot of the toolbar is new and it doesn't show the PR meter on it like it did.

You can still see it in the Internet Explorer version.
You can't see it, and you could never see it, in the Firefox version, because that toolbar isn't developed by Google.

Think about it. PageRank has not been showing in the Google toolbar for the last two days, and all of a sudden Google puts up a new screenshot of their toolbar without the PR meter in it..

it does infact have pagerank.

that could be because its a standard feature and they wanted to highlight the new ones.

For those of you that are rushing to install the latest toolbar from Google, it still has the pagerank meter on it, even though it doesn't work. I'm sure that they will be coming out with a new version very soon.

Eliminating the PR meter on the toolbar screenshot at the same time PR doesn't work anymore? I think that it's more than just a coincidence.

Now if a banned from google link to you're site you're now effected. But if the TrueRank/TrustRank comes in to play, it can effect you're site. Competitors can play dirty tricks and fuck up you're site ranking.

page rank really doesn't do any thing for me. I get just as many hits from google to a pr0 as i do a pr4

PR is a waste of time.

Maybe its gone, and then the funny little competition for high PR-ratings, can stop - and in the end, what relevant info will we be missing out on by its demise?

Maybe its replaced by a new ranking system. Some of the old PR players will cry for awhile, but before long they will enjoy themselves playing a new game, that has the potential to be just as meaningfull as the last one.

No more PageRank!?

Remember that G updated toolbar PR only about a month ago. Seems kinda odd that they would permanently discontinue the service so soon afterwards. It also seems unlikely that they would pull the service before having a non-capable PR toolbar available. They are a public company now, and you would expect a press release following such a change.

I sense that there is one in the works.
