Downfall of the TGP

Let me know what you think.

Donny 05-05-2005 11:10 AM

Unfortunately no. But a change is DEFINITELY needed. :)

AdPatron 05-05-2005 11:11 AM

The last option should be "No, but a change IS needed".

I know some have expressed that TGPs should go away.

tranza 05-05-2005 11:13 AM

I voted "NO"

dunefield 05-05-2005 11:15 AM

I know that when a TGP gets listed on my top list, I have to remind a lot of them to not send blind traffic. Blind traffic only wastes bandwidth and sponsors have already started kicking them out of programs.

fireorange 05-05-2005 11:17 AM

Oh please, shut the fuck up.
Only the other day you were asking the differences between PPS and RevShare.

fireorange 05-05-2005 11:19 AM

I keep hearing about XYZ killing TGPs.
But it's TGPs that have killed Link Lists, TGP2 and will kill blogs.

Remind me again, who the fuck supplies content and FREE HOSTED GALLERIES to TGPs? :1orglaugh

LOL. I don't make my revenue using sponsors, so I'm a newbie in some areas.

LiveDose 05-05-2005 11:22 AM

Not 'downfall of' just 'change of' the tgp...

AdPatron 05-05-2005 01:47 PM

Keep the votes coming.

couldn't agree more.. I haven't submitted in years, the rules just got to be 2 much for me.

beta-tester 05-05-2005 02:23 PM

No, there is no downfall of the TGPs. No yet though :)

Dirty Dane 05-05-2005 02:35 PM

Yes. Pretty soon.
And it has to do with laws and policy, surfers demand, technology and higher speeds. Just use your imagination. :)

inthestars 05-05-2005 02:49 PM

TGPs are like roaches, they are here to stay.

BigRod 05-05-2005 02:51 PM

and just like roaches they are here to stay because they evolve

Roaches evolved? I thought they just adapt.

crockett 05-05-2005 05:24 PM

Well if you notice more and more sponsors are either building or buying their own.. Even Lensman has a post about wanting to buy MGP's. So I don't think the TGP concept will be gone anything soon.. I do hope people start moving away from the high skim sites and more twords hard link trades and quality traffic..

Seems to me everyone is bloggin now.. blogs seem to be the new TGP's.

My game plan as always been merge the best features of all, which I've done for years and will continue to do so. When I started my top list, I added productivity features from TGPs. The one thing I never added is blind traffic, which will be the TGP downfall if they use it.

Yea I've been slowly changing my main site to no skim I send over half my outgoing traffic via toplist now.. So even though the site is set to 70% it acts like it's 80% or more.

My new sites I plan on building up via the trade scripts then slowly switching to HL trades as well.

BTW I think our trade died out.. how much can you trade a day now?

theres no money in pr0n

hydro 05-05-2005 06:08 PM

A change is coming but not the one you want. Expect tgp's that only allow 2 minute+ clips soon.

Probably because of the merge. Together, I send out about 200K uniques a day to all my trades.

what is your site?

Are you permanently stuck in 1998 or something?

BV 05-05-2005 08:40 PM

What's a TGP?

quiet 05-05-2005 08:42 PM

The Gerbil Project

Spunky 05-05-2005 08:47 PM

They were saying that 7 years ago

Well, over 50% see or want something to happen.

V_RocKs 05-05-2005 10:30 PM

While I agree with you on some issues, overall - sponsors have never made more money than they are now. My TGP's have never made more money than they are now. If it isn't broke, why fix it?

AdPatron 05-06-2005 12:14 AM

The stone wheel wasn't broke, but rubber is so much better.

The Sultan Of Smut 05-06-2005 01:03 AM

It's not going anywhere, surfers want content and tgps provide it. Link lists are here to stay as well since most do significantly better in the serps than tgps. Porn blogs are a fad that will quickly fade.

Boogie3 05-06-2005 01:03 AM

TGPs are not going any where. Truth of the matter is, without free porn "pay for porn" would die.

Suuuure -lol.

jayeff 05-06-2005 01:21 AM

One odd thing is that many of the people who are opposed to TGP's have no problem with links lists. Yet links lists would be giving away more free porn than TGP's if they had become as popular, since their minimum requirements are still at the top end of what most TGP webmasters display.

Perhaps it will be possible in a few years to crow over the demise of TGP's. But that depends mainly on whether they develop as TGP's or if another name catches on at some point. Either way it won't mean the end of free porn, because it is such an obvious and relatively easy way to attract potential customers.

TGP's didn't create the demand for free porn, they are a response to it and if not TGP's then it will be something else. We may as well get used to the idea.
