Depends on where you live. Santa Monica (by the beach) is very nice. I could never live in Los Angeles or many other areas.

Chaldoray 04-18-2005 12:23 AM

San Diego is the best.

J$tyle$ 04-18-2005 12:25 AM

Man, I love it!

I've lived in NY, Miami, Seattle, and California - traveled all over the country and several parts of Europe!

Good, bad or what the fuck ever ...

Traffic, smog or what the fuck ever!

It's SWEET HOME CALIFORNIA!

Wouldn't want it any other way!

:2 cents:

EDIT: San Diego ROCKS! Spent an incredible year there ... however, LA is HOME!!!

my buddy has an apt almost right off third street in santa monica

2100/mo for 700 sq ft and its fucking loud as shit people everywhere - i shit my pants when he told me that

ive been rolling around the oc, la, sd area and im staying with airek in hermosa right now - hes catching some Zs

but shit living in cali i bet you spend half of your life trying to find a parking spot
seriously if someone were to make a log of their time during a given day "find parking" would account for 50%

TheJimmy 04-18-2005 12:30 AM

hit Pismo Beach (SLO county) and you'll fall in love with the central coast of cali...

green hills with cows on one side of the road, and clean ass beach on the other side, and not very crowded :) yet...

com 04-18-2005 12:32 AM

You never hit cardiff, or rancho santa fe... You'd of loved our kryminall estate there. Only one problem, the ground the estate was on was worth $5m, not to mention the house itself. In san diego you gotta find the right spots for some peace and quiet. And when you do... and you get in with the right group of people, this is fucking paradise man!

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 04-18-2005 12:32 AM

If ya two make it down to the Valley I will be more than glad to hook up with ya guys:)

Just tell Airek, he know's how to get ahold of me.

com 04-18-2005 12:35 AM

not to mention the weather is the best

ytcracker 04-18-2005 12:38 AM

im digging the weather for sure

its just fucking way too fast paced and hectic and there is shit everywhere

beverly hills is insane
santa monica is insane
the oc is insane
everywhere ive been has just been insane

I'd have to agree...I only lived in LA for 5 years but I fucking loved it and I miss it and will someday be back.
I never felt more home ever in my life than when I lived in LA.

the way i see it, you either paying for the weather or to live where you work. One way or the other you get what you pay for out here... and like i said, SD is laid back... getting away from it all is just around the corner, you just gotta know where to look. Start at your local karl strauss brewery and make your way from there. if in doubt ask the local brew master!

KRL 04-18-2005 01:57 AM

I lived in California for 16 years.

PROS:

The only place to be if you're in the entertainment biz.

Great restaurants and world class shopping.

Lots to see and do.

Beautiful landscapes and scenery.

Nice weather most of the time.

Lots of gorgeous girls.

Lots of industrious entrepreneurs.

CONS:

Its way too crowded.

Way too many foreigners that don't want to culturally integrate into America. When I first moved to the valley is was all white, now whites are the minorities.

The smog is horrible. My allergies stopped right after I moved out of Cali.

The traffic is the worst anywhere in the country. If you like driving fast forget LA. You can't plan to be somewhere at a set time.

Lots of phony people. Friends come and go faster than any place in the US. Lots of users and pretend friends. Lots of con artists. Lots of wannabees. Everyone has a SAG card and wants to be famous.

Prices are outrageous.

Taxes are outrageous, among the highest in the US.

You have to deal with crowds everywhere you go.

Parts of LA are slum like.

Ultra competitive and you're often judged by your possessions.

your cons seem to be true of most if not all of california but your pros are only in select areas. california is turning into a shithole.

La Mirada is hardly Hermosa, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, or any other place you have probably visited. I would probably move too, if I had to live there.

hahahahahaha . . . give me a break. Man, I don't even know where to start with you.

Let me group these up to make it quicker.

Dude, you lived in the fucking valley. What do you think it is going to be like? Don't move by the beach if you don't like sand and surf. Don't judge CA by the SFV, or the SFV and the entire LA County.

BTW, I don't know when you left SFV, but the air quality is a helluva lot better now than it used to be. As far as allergies go, everyone I know has them clear up when they live out here. Must be a special case with you.

Did you ever stop to think that just maybe it was the crowd you were hanging out with? Don't blame CA.

I don't ever deal with crowds unless I leave town. I think registration at Phoenix Forum was a crowd. I would never encounter a line like that in my daily adventures.

I can take you to lots of places where you won't see another person. You do have some concept as to how large CA is . . . right?

basschick 04-18-2005 03:38 AM

there are plenty of phonies everywhere. i love living here, and i've met many sincere, talented, and really nice people - some of whom have been my friends for many years :)

axelcat 04-18-2005 02:23 PM

cali rocks

Wiggles 04-18-2005 02:25 PM

i couldn't live in any major city, i hate people too much to be surrounded by that degree.

PenisFace 04-18-2005 02:29 PM

Last time I was in California I was 12 :(

I plan on moving there one day. The biggest thing I remember from being there was that there was always something to do. Being bored was impossible (keep in mind I was 12 at the time and doing stuff meant Disney Land, knotts berry farm, and universal studios :winkwink: )

It's mostly the weather though. Vancouver has great summers, but damnit, it's depressing for the other 8 months of the year when it's overcast and raining. Oh and it helps I know a few people there who say its a great place to be :thumbsup

Gabriel 04-18-2005 02:30 PM

Southern Califas will always be home, no matter where I live.

seeric 04-18-2005 02:32 PM

LaurieX 04-18-2005 02:33 PM

I love California. I will never leave. The cost of living is crazy here though.

Tera 04-18-2005 02:40 PM

I keep my favorite spots in California to myself :) I go there, and it's perfect everytime... California will always be home...
