Can you tell me what are the worst areas around Amsterdam? Where is the most crime, violence, etc...

Diemen is okay ... the bijlmer and amsterdam east both are connected to diemen ..

Diemen is a city on it's own .. not a part of amsterdam .. and no it aint bad.

Bijlmermeer, Diemen ( is another town but on the outskirts from Amsterdam ) Oost, Geuzenveld en Slotermeer

good area's are: zuid, apollolaan, centrum

Unlike USA for example there are no real ghetto's in The Netherlands.
We sometimes like to think that "Bijlmer" is a ghetto but that is very relatively. You would probably call it a "bad neighbourhood" Diemen is near by Bijlmer but you can still walk through it without noticing any crime. In fact, I am from a city called Rotterdam and we have worse neighbourhoods. Diemen is laughed at as a boring community in these parts. So if you would have a firend living in Diemen you would not have to worry about your friend. If you plan on a visit to Amsterdam then dont stay in Diemen but choose something more near the center.

I don't think you should worry about violence in Amsterdam. Unless of course you are asking because you want to see violence.

If I can walk everywhere save in Amsterdam, so I also can walk save in Diemen. Only in the evenings I feel less save when I walk through certain streets.

But like pradeboy said shit can happen anywhere.

I know a guy living in Diemen, nothing wrong there. People might FEEL scared, when they pass a group of 20 young guys, however, it's not that they kick everyones ass passing them :)
