Wouldnt be the first time I got a great domain from a stupid low offer... that and offers suck, I always lowball in the hopes they will say the kind of numbers they want to see, or give it to me for the lowball.

Actually, a lot of buyers try this technique. It was more likely to work five years ago than it is today.

If you are genuinely interested in acquiring a particular domain, you should be careful not to send an offer so low that the seller doesn't consider you a serious buyer. Sending a lowball offer usually lets the seller know that you aren't really interested. Either that, or the seller realizes that the buyer just doesn?t know anything about domain names, but then the lowball offer would technically be just an uninformed, bad offer. (*Also, the extreme lowball offer is used as a comedic technique on gfy.)

I have found that most of the serious buyers will express genuine interest with a first offer significant enough to let you know they are serious.

?Real? domain buyers truly shine and leave no doubt that they are serious.

I usually buy off car forums, and the lowball works there.

The value for Sweetass.com to me isnt as high becuase I couldnt instantly see what I would with it, even though it is a good domain.

500 is an offer, lower then I know it will go for, but about what I feel its worth to me.
If you said well I'll take 750 then I would have to fire up my banking and get on it, but if you said 5000 I would have to pass, not cause its not worth that (It might be?) but to me its not.

That should always be your guide as a buyer. Each buyer has an understanding of what the name is (or can be) worth to them and that is exactly what should guide your bid.

Last name I sold, I had two more people wanting to buy within ten minutes of the domain name being sold. And then a third e-mailed me about 45 minutes later. They all really wanted the name and were just minutes too late.
