Are you afraid of dying?

I am actually afraid of both dying and old age. Pretty much the two things that I fear most.

They say lack of conventional religious beliefs contributes to such fears....hmmm?

Sly 03-21-2005 10:13 PM

I'm more afraid of losing my hair.

Read Tuesdays with Morrie, it might help you get over your fears.

TheSaint 03-21-2005 10:15 PM

No, been there, done that - its not a big deal, honest. Was close to death 2 or 3 times, was kinda peaceful. My only real fear is ending up in a vegatative state and having the US media constantly showing me on TV.

thefool 03-21-2005 10:28 PM

Not really afraid of dying, but the past few days, I've feared losing a finger or two... so far so good... did loose 2 finger nails tonight though! :(

WiredGuy 03-21-2005 10:29 PM

Fear of ending up alone is my #1.

CDSmith 03-21-2005 10:30 PM

What in hell is the point of being afraid of something that is inevitable?

Spunky 03-21-2005 10:31 PM

Hell no..I hope I die young..who wants to have a wrinkled old sack and arthritis and everything else that fucks up when you're a geezer

I need to become more compatible!

Peaches 03-21-2005 10:36 PM

I'm not afraid of dying or getting old, but I sure wish I knew when I was going to die so I could say all my goodbyes and get everything in order.

C_U_Next_Tuesday 03-21-2005 10:37 PM

no, im not afraid of death , nor am i afraid of getting old..everyone does it..it cant be all that bad

Seems irrational, but it really isn't so much. Not knowing what will happen is a fear that I think is derived from both control freaks and atheist.

Not knowing is a fear in itself.

I live / have lived / a pretty crazy life, taken a lot of risk, and plan to take more. People not afraid of dying would be unlikely to do a few of the things I have done in my life :)

Odd irony I suppose.

You are pretty old already. Might be a good idea to say goodbye to me in Phoenix and alleviate that fear :1orglaugh

BV 03-21-2005 10:39 PM

Dead is a long time.

Babagirls 03-21-2005 10:45 PM

naww, not really.

my biggest fear in life is to get married & spend my life with someone, and have them die. i know it'll probably happen, my man is older than me by 6 yrs. but its gonna suck big time sayin goodbye.

my great grandmother completly changed when her husband died. i mean, like she was dead too. she wouldnt talk, she wouldnt eat, she wouldnt cry. it was reallyyyyyy weird. its fucked up how someone dying can really drive a person insane or shut down the inside of them :(

BIGTYMER 03-21-2005 10:49 PM

Who will run your sites when you die? I think about about that question most the time.

oh shit! thats a good one to think about (if i die young or before i retire) :Oh crap

Zerof8 03-21-2005 10:55 PM

No, I dont think I am afraid of dying. I dont want to die, or get old but why fear something you cant control? Old age does kind of get me a little just because a lot of the old people in my family have gotten als heimers and I see the way they act and I dont want to be like that.

6 years isnt shit, I wouldnt worry about that. The thing that should worry you is that hes a man. Us men die a lot younger than women

J-$ 03-21-2005 10:58 PM

if youre scared to die youre also scared to live..

I don't know about that, I am only 29 and have seen and done more than most have at 60.

I am not afraid to risk death. Notice, I included old age in there :)

I realize it will happen and have no intention of leading a life geared towards postponing it.

Cory W 03-21-2005 11:13 PM

When I die, I would like to be buried with my most recent Guess shirt purchase.

woj 03-22-2005 12:32 AM

Not yet, I still have many years to live (I hope), I'll worry about it in 30-40 years....

kuthi123 03-22-2005 12:40 AM

i want to live another 30 years

reynold 03-22-2005 12:50 AM

I'm afraid of going blind and not being able to communicate.

TimeStamp 03-22-2005 01:00 AM

im afraid im not getting my money from purecash since you guys fucking ignored all my emails, icqs, and post on your message board

Sparks 03-22-2005 01:02 AM

I know it's going to happen.... but still kinda scares me. Just don't know what to expect.

2HousePlague 03-22-2005 01:07 AM

Not at ALL, Cory.

Death is exactly like Birth,
but in reverse -- a door
through which we cannot see,
but know (before we cross)
we shall NOT be
the people that we were
when we first crossed.

I keep my ducks in a row. If I were to die there would be no unfinished biz.
I don't wanna die but I aint skeered either :)

xclusive 03-22-2005 01:59 AM

I just want to live long enough to see my kids grow up and it's all a bonus after that

baddog 03-22-2005 02:00 AM

kind of looking forward to it

RedShoe 03-22-2005 02:02 AM

I fear people that believe everything they read on GFY.

People often use religion as a way of dealing with death. They feel that we go onto an afterlife so dyig really isn't so bad. The truth is, when you die, you die, that's it.
