VERY unwanted gift!
I was wondering if anyone else had a similar experience to me. I just received in the post a clock from the Adult.com team.
The clock came with a card from Adult.com and the clock itself has Adult.com written all over it. When I signed up with various adult programs, I understood they knew how to keep a CONFIDENTIAL, low-profile business relationship. This is, for instance, why checks don't come from PornGigaDollars.com (or whatever) but from some nice innocuous outfit like "ABC Holdings, inc." So why send me a (U$(*#*$ CLOCK WITH YOUR URL ON IT!!!!! (or indeed christmas cards, as some of the other less-than-bright companies have been sending me) It was a close thing getting it into the garbage before some of the people in my house, NOT ALL OF WHOM KNOW ABOUT THE PORN SITE STUFF (note emphasis please) noticed the parcel and started asking questions. If this kind of thing happened to you (and you minded) what did you do about it? Oh, and I know I'm going to get endless replies blasting me for complaining - if you don't see my point about the low-profile relationship, you'll frankly never get where I'm coming from! |

I love the clocks and I also am proud to be in this biz, and all my friends and family know exactly what I do for a living. I'm going to try one more time to explain what I was trying to get at earlier. Now that I'm less annoyed, perhaps it will be clearer (or maybe not).
I understood/assumed/believed (delete as appropriate) that it was common practice in the adult industry to maintain the confidentiality of the relationship between sponsors and webmasters. Hence e.g. sponsors do not reveal the real names of people behind their "nicks" and they send out nice, unassuming checks that make little or no reference to their origins (how many times have people posted on here because they couldn't figure out from what sponsor a check came from - a lot!) I am very happy to receive the checks (including from Adult.com of course!). I assume since this is a business relationship that they are also happy to be able to send me the checks because it means that *they* have *also* made money out of the signups I brought them (if this wasn't the case, *on average*, then sponsors would shut down pretty quickly) I guess I over-reacted a little though, but it was just so glaringly out of place compared to the until now low-key and genteel relationship. |
I understood what you meant and I still think you should stop crying. CCBill sends me porno ads with my checks, but you don't see me complaining.
Checks are one thing, you have to take them to the bank and it might be a little akward if it had "CUM LOVING SLUTS" on the check itself, but it's not like you have to hang this clock on the wall, and in fact on MY clock the Adult.com part is on the back, so even if you did no one would see it. ------------------ SlutBunnies - $30/sale, bitch. |

I make no bones about what I do for a living and I don't give a rats ass who has anything to say about it. I have just bought a house and in the summer bought me a nice (not new but a very nice used) car and god knows what else with the money I have made in this industry. BEFORE I started in this business, I was living in government houseing and we lived off of food stamps!!
