How much does it cost to get a KNOWN sales rep

I tossing around a few idea. What does it cost to get a known sales guy IE a "Tanker" a "Wizzo" a "Dwreck"

Some one who had a rep and can not only post on boards but do actuall affiliate support and one one icq/aol/phone sales

They above examples are just what I saw skimming the board tonight but you know what I mean.

galleryseek 03-08-2005 12:10 AM

I'll do it for you for $4k per month. I'm known for my intelligence, therefore not many people know me on gfy, as intelligence is frowned upon. Be different, be unique and hire me as your support rep, and your business shall grow to immense proportions.

beemk 03-08-2005 12:11 AM

probably not much

LOL I was not talking about posters but people who go to shows and have a nice contact list. :)

spunkmaster 03-08-2005 12:12 AM

About 10K per month and 3% - 5% of affiliate sales as a bonus?

Seems VERY high to me But what do I know

MrIzzz 03-08-2005 12:14 AM

lolol, this makes me laugh because you will see how cheap some sponsors really are. there are a handful of really good sales reps out there and they have a mix of salary plus comission

Also I was not talking about just a sales rep. Im talking about some one with a name and a rep. Someone who does go to shows and does actually help affiliates with helping them make more money with said program.

Major (Tom) 03-08-2005 12:17 AM

after a sales rep has been with more than a few programs their rates come down. Kinda like a girl before she has had sex with the entire football team. Once she does the whole D-Line her rates just came down.
Me, personally, once I see an affiliate manager bounce from program to program i start scratching my head and say hmmmmmm.... Something is fishy here.

psyko514 03-08-2005 12:17 AM

depending on your expectations, i'd charge a small base salary plus commission for part-time work.

thats what sales reps do. if they have actual webmaster skills its different though, i'm not sure about wizzo but tanker seems to know a thing or two about running websites from what i've seen. that derek guy on the other hand only seems to know how to post pictures of himself with girls he meets at shows.

I agree with you but what if the bounce factor has something to do with the programs that hired them. I have noticed alot of what I would think good sales reps bounce for other reasons.
Also Im I should have prolly not used the term sales rep. Im also including the "director of marketing" and the "COO" in this. (whatever they mean)
:)

SleazyDream 03-08-2005 12:23 AM

a sales rep will only preform to 50% of what you're capable of yourself - as a general rule.

YO YO YO!! thanks for the props buddy! Hit me up on icq I will point you in the right direction!

Tala 03-08-2005 12:25 AM

Hmmm...is it a sales rep you need or more of a PR person/figurehead who can do face to face meetings and callbacks from collected names and such?

beemk 03-08-2005 12:25 AM

i think of it like field of dreams. you build it they will come. i think the $ is much better spent on good sites. look at nasty dollars for example. they dont have sales reps yet they are the most promoted program on the internet. they simply dont need sales reps.

Both and some one with a big list of contacts/affiliates.

Dwreck 03-08-2005 12:33 AM

I demand top dollar. I do everthing from Press Releases, posting, adverstising, phone support, email support, upadate the sites, bring new ideas to the table, I got a sick contact list, a kick ass reputation, html skills, and 4 years experince.

Reps get shit on I know this but it because people think they can hire students to post for 5 bucks an hour.

So not the case. Plus chicks dig me! :)

I guess thats why a base salary plus commision is important. If they work hard themselves they get the commision and if they slack you can tell them that they have specific obligations that need to be met to earn the base salary. I guess it depends on what type of a person they are.
Cheers

Nastydollars has awesome content but they also have/had the advantage of massive internal traffic to launch anything they want. :) When you can exit to your paysite from http://www.sublimedirectory.com/ I guess a few webmasters might see it.

It got quiet in here lol

KMR Stitch 03-08-2005 12:46 AM

Whats a sales rep?

Tala 03-08-2005 12:46 AM

See, to me, there's more to it than just posting and looking cute, (although I have that in spades). I do a great deal of writing, icqing, love to go to the shows to interact and collect business cards, talk to those who give Me the cards and actually have a good time with them. If you can have a good time with potential clients, they'll remember you easily.

Plus it's hard to miss Me. :winkwink:

NP I understand. :)
The only real $'s posted so far was $10k a month plus a 3-5% commission. Does anyone else have any input on this? The above figure seems rather high to me.

Certainly. ICQ 11120676 :)

Raven 03-08-2005 12:56 AM

It really depends on what you need.

If it's a project coordinator, plus someone who handles affiliate problems..knows marketing, helps you with financial planning, keeps you grounded, gives you a face at the shows......pushes your program, manages your affiliates and your sales reps.....posts on the boards, has a name....and is an all in one...minus the actual html skills, which should easily be outsourced, it can be costly.....I don't know if 10k is necessary..but at least 5k plus commission and expenses...

Contact me. I may know someone, depending on what you need.

JulianSosa 03-08-2005 01:01 AM
