Thank goodness our PM stood up to Bush ... This missile defence is nothing more than a make-work project from a government who lives by the philosophy "if we don't use the military once in awhile, people will question it's existence."

I'm curious exactly how are N.Korea and Iran(!) warships going to get "near" the US coast? Without satellites, radar, etc. etc. detecting them and a fairly kick-ass US naval fleet blowing them out of the water?

Just FYI Canada is alredy part of a missle shield because you are part of NORAD. You'll have to drop out of NORAD if you want to drop out of the missle sheild all the way.

There is the issue that building a missile defence system promotes a new arms race. With Canada being one of the leaders in promoting nuclear disarmament, a missile defence system would set back decades of work.

Basically the missle defence system means if there's a missile on the way to the states, they can shoot it down over canada and let it explode up here showering us with the debris and/or radioactive material.

And if I'm wrong, this faulty defence system doesn't appear to be too trustworthy to help anyhow.

An enemy of America is pretty much an enemy of Canada.

The US and Canada are the world's two largest trading partners. They have a mutual interest in eachothers continued safety and prosperity. An attack on America would have effects on Canada, and an attack on Canada would have effects on America.

It's not soldiers that the bounty is on, it's any citizen. You, me, your family, your neighbors, you get the point.

Canada didn't participate in Iraq but we sure as fuck did in Afghanistan. You think Bin Laden and associates are down with that? In their eyes, we were making war on Islam.
