Why do people in Adult not use their real names when doing business?
 

I can understand if the ladies use an alias for protection but why do the guys do it? It doesn't bother me and I will continue to do business with the ones that I know of...I'm just curious. I want to change my name to Max Power or Rock Strongo...those are cool names and Rob is just boring! :thumbsup

At shows I get called both my real name and "Sly". It isn't a big deal to me, my name is right on my business card.

LOL I crack up when someone uses their nick when introducing themselves. Not a "hi I'm Joe aka wankster." Just "hi, I'm wankster." Yep you sure are. I very rarely EVER refer to someone as their nick, I refuse to call someone Daddybigdick...

people I do business with know my real name, that's all that matters...

I also have kids and nosy neighbors, so I've even become camera shy of late...
nothing to do with hiding and everything to do with not embarassing my family...

Well, my real name is Michael Bolton, and there was nothing wrong with that name, until I was about 12 years old, and that no-talent ass-clown became famous and started winning Grammy's, so I changed my name to "Mike"

I use my real name with clients but most people don't get the National Lampoon's reference and call me Nick. That's cool though. I answer to both.

I use my real name when doing business. Just not on the boards. I have a lot of mainstream clients that may take exception to me working in the adult industry as well.

I understand why some people hide their real identities.

Sometimes, when you THINK you know the person's real name, you DON'T :)

That's basically why I do it aswell. I have mainstream clients, some of who are churches or real estate companies. I don't need them googling my real name and it linking me to porn.

i use my real name with clients too, i mean everywhere i GO i use it. i don't feel comfortable usingan ALIASes coz im getting untrue with the conversations...my GFY nick says it all :)

To tell you the truth, I thought a bit before choosing "Sly". I really don't remember why I chose it, I must have thought it made me sound cool or something, lol. But anyway, I wanted a name that nobody else had so that I wouldn't be confused with anyone else. Its worked great so far.

My real name is Ryan. Do you have any idea how many Ryan's there are in this business? I can think of 2 designers off the top of my head named Ryan and I can think of 3 clients named Ryan off the top of my head. There are MANY more.

If somebody says "I was talking to Ryan the other day"... Ryan who?

i use my real name, cell number and all public emails. shit i even have my address published on my dj sites. not hard to find me.

It is never safe to use your real full name online. Trust me.

People can do some creazy shit with it.

(Using your middle name is still your "real" name, it just won't get you into shit. I also know many people who use their middle names everywhere, many different reasons)
