motherfuckers, how do they do this ?
i had everything locked down and some fucker stole one of the domains. what the fuck ? |
and of cource everyone is out for the weekend.
fuck. |
Doubt you'll get anyone @ this hour. :(
|
fuck that sucks. Man this domain stealing is getting out of control. Login and find that contact info page, they have their number on there but it is not there 24 hours.

yeah i got the number but both registrars work monaday thru friday.
how the fuck do they do it ? i had it locked. |
See, i don't get this shit.
My security was set to HIGH. Dig this: High Security - *** Recommended: This will place all domains on lock status. Lock status will prevent any transfers from occurring. You may still transfer your domains, but you will need to first unlock the domains individually using the Domain Registry Status Manager link below. So, how did they steal it ? |
Man that sucks. Domain registers should have 24 hour support. You can try to do a support ticket but I don't know if they answer those on weekends either. It seems like locked domains don't do shit for security.

i suggest ppl start looking at places like gandi.net and other domain registrars used normally by spammers and ppl seeking immunity. why? because they are so paranoid, it's like a 10 step procedure to actually transfer your domain ownership, making these hit and runs nearly impossible.

you know, that's the smartest thing I have heard since this domain stealing started a few months back :thumbsup |
DarkJedi,
Was it ws,cn or tv tld? Those are not locked. |
Did you have your login/pass to directnic stored on your PC, in a .txt file, etc?
|
In the current situation, to get the domain working again, you need to contact the new registrar where the domain has moved. (Unless it moved between directnic accounts, so it's still there). You'll want to contact Directnic about what went wrong and how to get it back to Directnic (if you're still going to use Directnic), but that can probably wait until Monday. I don't think Directnic would be able to do anything in the short-term other than confirm to the new registrar details of the theft...the new registrar can change the DNS settings back to what they were. If they're competent, they'll be able to confirm it was hijacked even without directnic's involvement. Longer term, unless you let the domain expire, or used false contact info in the registration, it's almost certain you'll be able to get it back. But short term I'd just work on getting the DNS changed so your site gets back up.
|
lol .. i highly doubt it was the last two. these attacks aren't localized, they're server side vulnerabilities and since most registrars are run by idiots who would rather offer you sweeeet ease-of-use, 1 minute setup, near instant DNS propagation etc .... simple brute force atks let you hop in and do whatever since changes are made to be automated and near instant.
problem is, they're response is like non-existant, and their preventative measures are a crock of shit tbh. |
DJedi, any news? To which registrar did the hijackers move your domain?
|
gotdamn that sucks. when locked domains are getting stolen from DirectNic, that's a fucking problem. A BIG fucking problem.

See the other thread by Muff, too:
http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showthread.php?t=427476 Is it Xybererotica in the WHOIS again, like the Easy-Dater.com theft a few weeks ago from Sleazydreams? |

The lack of weekend support is a serious issue. They hit Sleazy on a long weekend so it is clear the thieves are taking the delays with weekend and holiday support into account. |

If they logged in they would have had to unlock the domain and transfer it , either way an email should have been sent or your registrar is liable for damages. They didnt steal it from you they stole it from directnic.

The site is still there - they havent changed the DNS yet. Just moved the domain to another registrar.
It was a .net domain. It was locked. I never got any email, and the mailbox wasn't mail bombed. Directnic account shows no lock/unlock requests or any transfers. Domain has been transfered to enom.com and they are using proxyguard to hide the whois info. Both registrars are working monday thru friday so there is no way to reach either of them now. I have no idea how the've done it. I thought DirectNic was a pretty safe place to keep domains at. |

Also sleazy, you have an idea how they did it? Andre |

I never received any emails about any transfers. I also have many other domain in my directnic account so they could have taken them also if they had hacked my account. Must be some DirectNic backdoor, i don't know. |
Also, my account is locked and is set to auto-reject any transfers.
|
Looks like they always do that late fridays too

Sure sounds strange. There was a previous directnic hijack reported a couple weeks ago. I wonder if the hijackers were waiting for a longer holiday weekend to switch the DNS, hoping you wouldn't notice until then, or maybe wait 60 days and then transfer it to yet another registrar, so getting it back would be more complicated. I'm interested in what you find out, hope you post updates DJ.
|
Fuck. I'm set for high security but if they got yours... anyone is open to theft.

Im happy I have never touched directnic, Monday-Friday support is so 1995...

I'm guessing that DirectNic will do everything they can to get this taken care of.
