This just shows how sad things have become. Years ago people would have thought something good before they assumed the worst. IMO these girls should be celebrated not persecuted. Fucking Judge just made it worse too!

It's an indication of the world we live in, if you ask me... in 2 aspects.

One, you truly can be sued for anything.

Two, it's sad when a woman is so frightened by a knock at her door that she is hospitalized. In a perfect world, you'd be able to leave your doors unlocked... in a just world, you should be able to answer it without worry.... in today's world, you have panic attacks.

Well you can already tell that the older woman has problems. It was said that she has had issues with other neighbors. I in my entire life have never had a problem with a neighbor even when I was a kid and had cranky old ladies that we lived near.

What's really fucked up about this woman that sued is that the neighbors offered to pay her medical bills if she'd indemnify them against future claims.

She denied the offer and sued them in court.

Anyway suing them like that was probably extreme, especially when they appologized and the other neighbors were willing to pay for the ladys medical expenses.

But it was a pretty dumb move for the parents of those kids to PERMIT them to go out delivering cookies at 10:30pm to their boondock neighbors. Which is probably why the judge let the lady win.

18 is considerd an adult by law, so need to ask consent there, the other was (as the article states 17 then, implying 18 now) and if it happened in the summer she has turned 18 in the last 6 months.. imho that's an age where they can make decisions on their own...

also, alot of smaller towns in colorado have livestock, yet are not in the boonies...

Theres a few things that stand out in this story.

First off i think 10:30 is a bit late for cookie drops..

The old lady had disputes with some of her neighbours , so its not impossible that she did freak out and have a panic attack, but she also had her own 18 year old granddaughter in her house with her, so im not sure why they didnt calm her down..

I agree with whomever mentioned above that the lady might have thought it was some strange serial killer. Old people watch the news all the time and there are scary stories on all the time.

The thing that stands out is the JUDGEMENT , the old lady would have freaked out if it were a chipmunk on her doorstep , so i dont think they should be liabe for the costs of her medical bills.

BUT from her words the old lady seemed sane and grumpy , so im sure she is just a cranky old lady.
