MySpace Problems

Anyone else having problems logging into their profile at myspace.com? My profile is gone and I disappeared off everyone's friends lists. I had over 30,000 friends. I hope they are just working on the server or something cuz if not this really sucks...

robfantasy 01-14-2005 08:18 PM

that sucks, you have been deleted

WiredGuy 01-15-2005 12:41 AM

30,000 friends? wow, you're popular!

Warden 01-15-2005 01:22 AM

Tom has been deleting known porn stars. Would you fit that discription?

SpaceAce 01-15-2005 01:25 AM

Would someone please explain to me what MySpace is all about? I hear people talk about how many friends they have and stuff but I don't understand the significance.

tical 01-15-2005 01:43 AM

ouch that would suck

Bobbi Doll 01-15-2005 01:44 AM

Nope, I am not a porn star. I have a website but I do very tame Playboy style nudity in my members area.

Yeah, myspace.com = free traffic. Look 'em up on alexa.com or google rank 'em. They get a ton of hits and they allow you to put links to your site from theirs. I spent a lot of time over the past year or so adding all of those friends to my list. I am so pissed that my page is now gone and now I have to start all over again! Anybody know of any myspace.com alternatives?

Mr Pheer 01-15-2005 01:48 AM

maybe janie lane can help you :2 cents:

dont you know better than to post some info about myspace so all the fuckers can go exploit it?

Bobbi Doll 01-15-2005 01:49 AM

Yeah, tell me about it! I'm so sad now... :(

That was one of the sites I checked religiously, aside from GFY and my yahoo group.

I did email the head honcho "Tom" from one of my other profiles but no response yet. And, I wasn't able to find any other contact info on their site.

Grrr...

Thanks, Bobbi. How do you acquire friends? Do they have chat rooms or something? I am afraid I'll be lost if I just go sign up and startw ading around because I see so much crap on their front page Mostly, i am looking for a way to get visitors to some of my non-adult blogs.

SpaceAce

Bobbi Doll 01-15-2005 02:35 AM

No problem. You acquire friends by people requesting to be added. Then you go thru them and hit approve (I always approved anyone who asked to be added). Also, you can surf and find people's profiles to add to your friends list. It's not that tricky. I would definitely recommend it as a way of promoting your blogs. They actually have a blog section on there too so you could mirror your posts there if you wanted to. If you need any help, I'll be glad to walk you thru any questions you might have when you sign up. Let me know if you plan on doing it and I can send you an invite.

out the way of interest groups now...

robfantasy 01-15-2005 02:43 AM

PLEASE do not spam and ruin myspace. i have been on since the beginning and seen it grow from just a few people to millions of people in the span of a little over 1 year.

myspace is very lax on freedom of speech and that is what has kept it cool and popular..

once it turns into yahoo bullshit where its full of spam bots and fake profiles i will be pissed, and i can already see it start to happen. its a fucking shame.

really cool ppl are on there and its a great networking tool and way to keep in touch with social circles.

this isnt directed at anyone, just in general

It already has turned into that!!! Seriously now... Look around a bit.

Even when I first started on there (about a year ago... if not more), there were tons of fake profiles on there. I always recognize girls that I know from modeling with some name different from what it really should be.

I use my profile to promote my modeling as well as for fun. I too have met a lot of cool people on there too so I hear you on all that. Also, I have 2 different profiles... one in which I add everyone that requests, and one that is only for people that I have met in "real life".

AmeliaG 01-15-2005 03:42 AM

Rumor is that MySpace is deleting all profiles which feature hot girls who do not benefit MySpace's business associates financially. Could be total BS, but I know that a bunch of the Blue Blood girls have gotten either their photos (dressed ones) removed or their entire profiles deleted. When I asked "Tom" about it, he told me advertisers had an issue with nudity, only, when I directed him to a profile which did contain nudity (but which I heard was affiliated) that profile just never got deleted. No matter how many times I forwarded it to him.

The site is kind of a useless spamfest of fake personalities though anyway. It is like this opportunity for people who don't even have anything to sell to enjoy the pleasures of spamming anyway.

Bobbi Doll 01-15-2005 04:14 AM

Yeah... past tense. Will you add me back if I decide to chance it again? :helpme

Hi Amelia,

*Waves*

It's my Vegas buddy. Yay! :) :banana

So Is that the deal then? It sounds like you may be onto something...

Yeah, I'm baffled as to why they'd take me off there. I didn't have any naked pics up there and I don't see why they would remove me but then leave the other girls that have links to their websites. It doesn't seem fair to me. I've always tried to promote MySpace wherever I can. I put links up to them on my livejournal, in my yahoo group, etc. Not to mention that I told a lot of models that I know about it. I don't get why they'd do that to me. :sadcrying

I heard about another site a while back that was like myspace except it was just starting out. I wish I could remember what it was. Maybe I will move over there and boycott myspace and it's land of fake profiles. I've never had a profile deleted before and it really sucks. I put a lot of work into that thing. :ak47:

I agree about it being a spamfest and full of fake profiles these days. Maybe it's just time for me to move on.

unfortunately myspace has been mentioned of gfy countless times before and it is already flooded with spam/fake profiles.

Bobbi, your profile was most likely removed as most adult-oriented and borderline gray-area profiles may soon be removed to appease advertisers and investors. MySpace is not run by a bunch of idiots/kids as some surfers assume. It is VERY well-funded by venture capitalists and could possibly be acquired or go public. VC did not invest in myspace's parent company to watch it turn into a spam/porn fest. I know you say that you don't fall into the porn category, and I hope you get your profile back up & running, but keep in mind it may get deleted again as they are removing all "pollution".

check out www.INTERMIX.com to see who run's myspace. They are building an internet empire completely under the radar of most people/competitors.

and if you're still looking for a place to call home, or another channel to promote yourself & site, we're launching Official.com this year. We already have hundreds of celebrities/models/personalities waiting for us to launch and plan to grow that number to thousands by summer once the site launches.

good luck with myspace.

cool man i hope your thing outdoes myspace... the reason why myspace is so nice is cuz of all the features it has and the ease of use. also cuz how fast it is...

word of advice.. asians will help it spread the fastest. use them as seed hubs and watch the network grow at an alarming rate.

:1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh @ the "asians" part.
yes.. you are right about that. we think alike. LOL.

re: features.
yes. plus a few that myspace hasn't thought of yet. but it will take time, because our focus right now is building the official website network and search engine.

Bobbi Doll 01-15-2005 12:25 PM

This may very well be the case, but if it is, why is it that they would only remove mine and not all or most of the girls that are on there promoting their sites in one swoop? And if that were the deal, they could have asked me to remove the link to my website instead of just deleting the whole thing. I would have complied with their wishes in order to prevent losing my whole profile.

I am still hoping it is a bug or something. For example, I can still get to the group that I created, but the moderator section is blank. Also, on my profile that I only add friends from "real life", there is a blank space on my friends list where my photo used to be in the friends section. The other thing that makes me think it is merely a glitch in the system is because when I go to my profile, I don't get the usual "Invalid Friend ID" as I would if a profile had been deleted. When I go to my page, I get a "Page Cannot Be Displayed" error. Maybe there is hope after all...

Yes, I have heard that myspace.com is not entirely run by "Tom" and that he's more of a figurehead for the company. I am interested in joining your site when it comes out and I will spread the word. And if I find out myspace deleted me... I will become your biggest cheerleader! :banana

When is your site supposed to go live?
