10$ a US citizen actually, and annually.

If they did denote it should be added to the USA donation as they are not a self supporting country. The US provides approximately three billion per annum in aid to Israel.

Well, there are a LOT of countries missing. I'm not sure if they are included in other donations but I don't see Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Iran. How about all the South American countries? panama, chile, equador, columbia?

I don't understand why people start these posts. It leads to nothing but more comments bashing a country that the people bashing it know nothing about. Nothing personal against you DarkJedi, but before you make a post like this you really need to check your facts. Israel was the FIRST counntry to offer aid in the form of money, docs, supplies, food etc. NO other country had offered anything until Israel made the first offer. As every major news network reports both Sri Lanka and Indonesia REJECTED Israel's aid. They decided that their people would suffer becuase of political views. What else do you want them to do? Israel made an incredible humanitarian offer that was rejected. So people respond to this post by making comments like "cheap jew", and putting up silly pics.

Israel is usually one of the first countries to lend assistance in disasters, I think you can chalk this one up for a muslim country accepting help from a predominately Jewish state.

A spokesman for the Israeli Consulate in New York said the Sri Lankan ambassador to the United States, Devinda Subasinghe, contacted Daniel Ayalon, Israel?s U.S. ambassador, to deny that his country refused Israeli help.

Sri Lanka and Israel have ?close diplomatic relations,? according to a statement by the Sri Lanka Embassy in Washington. The Sri Lanka Embassy in Tel Aviv has been functioning since October 2000; Israel?s embassy in New Delhi, India, is also accredited to Sri Lanka.

Subasinghe noted that representatives of his country and Israel attended a ceremony at a synagogue in Washington Saturday night as a ?display of solidarity between the two embassies in light of the misinformation that was spread.?

An Israeli Consulate spokesman said Sri Lankan officials on Wednesday were expected to reiterate that their country had never turned down Israeli aid and offer their gratitude to Israel as well as Americans who have made donations to the relief effort.
