Firefox Speed Boost
This one actually works, believe it or not. My Firefox saw a nice little speed increase. Found it at the overclockers uk forum.
Merry christmas everybody! :xmas-smil 1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries: network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading. 2. Alter the entries as follows: Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true" Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true" Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once. 3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves. If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages 2-3 times faster now. |
interesting, anyone else tried it already?
|
Wow. That was simple to do and noticable right away.
Thanks! |
Nice! Thanks! :thumbsup
|
Guess if it didn't work you could just reinstall Firefox. I might give it a try.
|
I don't notice a significant improvement, but thanks anyways!
|
Nice! Seeing a nice increase.
|
OMG! Try to surf to a thumb TGP. ~3-5 seconds load time. Amazing.
Thanks a lot Jon! |

|
Just tried it and things do seem a lot quicker.

hrm, still though, I preffer opera. Opera renders differently in many ways that pages with lots of heavy graphics are faster in opera.
|
wow thanks,

wow, speed boost!
Thank you so much. That did speed it up a lot. How high can you set the "nglayout" integer without going to far? :xmas-smil

Nice find. Firefox was already faster than IE and now it is a bit better. Now I shall have to tweak the other setings....
|
Thanks again. This tip is definitely worth a second thanks from me!
|
Doesn't seem hugely faster, however I do appreciate it :)
Maybe due to me using wifi? |
Did that a moth ago, didtn't do shit for me, glad it works for some of you.
Iz Opera faster? I'm going to download it now. |
Is Opera faster than Maxthon?
|
what do you hit to remove a line?
I accidently just added something and can't find a way to delete or do I now have to go in with regedit? |
Seems faster to me, nice tip.
|
Ho Ho HO
Bump for one heck of a great tip. Now this is what GFY is all about! Thank you Jon!
