New Google feature, you SEO guys are gonna love this.

http://www.google.com/webhp?complete=1&hl=en

Google is beta testing a new suggestion feature. It almost *has* to be based on popularity of search terms.

For instance just typing "T" pulls up Tara Reid as the most likely result.

Let the evil begin.

AdultNex 12-10-2004 01:46 PM

Clever Google engineers.

If only it would be implemented into the main Google SE.

polish_aristocrat 12-10-2004 01:47 PM

Lol, i typed "s" and it goes to stocks instead of sex :1orglaugh

TheMob 12-10-2004 01:49 PM

ii hope this never makes it in to google

RuthXtremePay 12-10-2004 02:24 PM

I typed in penis... it blanked out on me.. can't find it.. no option came up..

cheap fuckers! that is irritating.. especially since breast enlargement is in there fine.. what the hell is wrong with the term 'penis'???

yeah, definitely funny, specially since penile isn't searched as many times as penis is.. odd.. maybe it's considered an offensive term or something..

Yeah, that would be my guess..

try cock.. sex ... porn.. anal.. bukkake.. etc.. and you'll find nothing..

makes sense I spose, for it to only show regular terms and not adult-oriented terms

That would take the fun ot of the SEs for sure, i wouldn't want to see something like this incorporated, then again Google and it's recent behaviour... who knows what those fuckers are thinking...

it could increase competition on competitive keywords and jack up the price, thus their revenue.

AlexShark 12-10-2004 04:00 PM

I guess it's adult filtered

AdultNex 12-10-2004 04:10 PM

Do you know how easy it would be to twist the results on the drop-down menu (considering they're based on the number of SERPs)?

Clever idea, but too vulnerable.

Turn off filtering under Preferences.

I then typed in sex:

"sex industry numbers"
"sex industry revenue"
"sexy hoes"

But after that nothing happens on adult keywords. Beta was it? :glugglug

Yup, I think this will lead to a more elite adwords service.

dcortez 12-11-2004 12:58 AM

I very much doubt that this is about popularity of sites and connecting people with what they are looking for.

It's an annex to the 'pay to be found' model and another step into the direction of 'if you want to be in the SERPS give us cash'.

no no i think you have it wrong its a usefull mainstream seo tool

search for something like hosting , notice the suggest terms and the amount of items found in comparison to ranking

- Jesus Christ - 12-11-2004 01:16 AM

This is almost useless.

Unless the scond most popular tearm for p is pc world

Fair enough. I may be mistaken.

Is it similar to this then?

http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestion/

I've used a lot of tools like Wordtracker which are great for laterally identifying related terms and relative popularities of expressions.

pornJester 12-11-2004 01:19 AM

That's sweet, thanks for the link :thumbsup

- Jesus Christ - 12-11-2004 01:19 AM

No. Its NOT a keyword suggestion tool.
