Kelvin 11-08-2004 09:46 PM

Hey guys,

It was a bitch to build, but its a fucking insane system, heres the specs.

-Dual Intel Xeon 3.4EA GHz with EMT64, 800MHz FSB, 1MB L2 Cache
-2 gigs ECC DDR ram
-700 Watt Power supply
-ATI PCI Express 256MB 800XT Radeon video card
-3ware PCI SATA 4 Port raid card
-Pioneer DVD burner
-all the other typical pc parts

The main system is on a raid 0 with two 10,000 rpm Raptor SATA hard drives, then there is another 700Gigs of storage on 4 250Gig SATA drives in a Raid 5 Array.

The whole thing is tied together in a Koolance Water cooling case. Both processors have a water block and then it runs to all six of the hard drives.

That temp that you see on the front is the temp of the processor, which means that even after running through two friggin hot processors and 6 hard drives, its still able to keep it running relatively cool.

It can do all this and still be extremely quiet.
The joys of a water cooled case.

Gynecologist 11-08-2004 09:49 PM

Jesus Christ! You must do some serious editing. I thought my box was mean.

truly pimp! i assume there is zero chance of that water leaking?

Yug 11-08-2004 09:51 PM

Well thats kinda the scary part I guess,
Nothing is 100% and all it would take is someone slicing the line somehow.

But as far as the lines coming off the water blocks, I dont think its very likely. I had to take one off myself, and I could hardly get it off. I had to get a razor blade and cut it off, it was pretty hard.

I ran the system without components for a whole night, pulled and tugged on the line and no leaks at all. Seems to be very solid.

I'm gonna load Doom 3 onto the beast before I send it out to Duke. You know... Break it in :thumbsup

I'll let you know how it handles.

Well, Including a 19" NEC Flat panel, Wireless bluetooth Keyboard and mouse, kick ass Logitec speakers, and the whole system including the operating system it racked up to about $6500!

Yeah for sure, post the fps you get on ultra high res ...

If you want some gaming stress tests, go download the latest 3dmark and let us know what scores you get from that.

Yeah it did, but the nice thing is that Duke has 700 Gigs of pure storage space that has some redundancy, In that 4 drive Array on the raid 5, if one drive fails, all he has to do is pop in another drive, rebuild the raid, and he is back up and running again.

Its totally worth the money if you dont feel like losing all your shit.

I learned the hard way a few months ago. Never put data on a raid system that isnt reduntant, lol

WWC - Jimmy 11-08-2004 11:30 PM

Is that thing turbo charged? :thumbsup

DWB 11-08-2004 11:50 PM

Fuck... your system looks like it's on life support with all those tubes. :1orglaugh

Just kidding, it looks wicked. Nice work. :thumbsup
