"The Business"
For all of us that live in this digital world, new & experienced alike, I'd just like to toss out some perspective this morning. http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/wink.gif
We all, at one point or another during the day, sit back and look in awe at the swirling mass in which we live: The Internet. And we are all racing against time each day to try to figure out new ways to cash in on it. New people come to this industry for many different reasons and are instantly lost in all the technology. Some struggle through and find their way, while others give up and pursue other avenues. But for those of us that have decided to struggle through at any cost, there is a lot of light still waiting at the end of this tunnel. Or is there? The Internet itself is still VERY much in its infancy. Where will it all go? Who knows. Remember the 70's CB Radio fad? Another wildly popular communications medium. It came, it got popular, and it died out. Sure they're still around, but not like 25 years ago when everyone just HAD to have one. So now you see the huge megasites like The Hun or AL4A pumping astronomical amounts of traffic through each day, and may wonder how you can ever compete with that. You are looking at it from the wrong angle my friends. http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/wink.gif Keep in mind that sites like those have only been in existence for a few short years. Look at how far even just HTML coding has come since 1994. Not to mention all the other amazing things that have been invented... (Java, Perl, Shockwave, WYSIWYG editors....) All of this has come to be in a very short amount of time. Imagine how different the landscape of this industry will be in just five more years. Or will it still exist at all? Alot of things can happen in a very short time. Perhaps the Internet will go the way of the CB Radio. Let's not forget that there are alot more people in the world than not that lead very normal lives and couldn't care less about anything on the Net. The point here is that nothing is carved in stone. So you want to be bigger than The Hun? Then do it. Build a better product. Find new marketing techniques. Make changes in our industry's landscape that will help to ensure your success for generations. But you can't open a one-man hamburger stand on the corner and expect to compete with McDonalds. This is no different than any other business. You have to start small, stay focused, continuously modify and improve your business model, and of course... grow. Happy coding! http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/wink.gif |
I figure there are five good years left in this business. I don't think it will go the way of the CB - but I do think either the government will put a stop to it, or the influx of newbies will eventually make it 1 webmaster for each 3 surfers, or (most likely) it will come to an end for a reason I cannot yet conceive of. Either way (and I really hope I am wrong) I plan to make as much money as is possible in the next five years before it all comes down. If is does not - hell, I'll be sitting in a pretty good position!
------------------ The Scarab TGP Fuckit - why am I in here and not working? |
Well I don't think that the internet will go out like the CB... People just got bored with talking to other people within a few mile radius.... I think that the webmasters who best adapt to the changes in the future (whatever they may be) will do just fine http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/smile.gif

a member of the Greek family, Michael Dertouzos, director of MIT labs has already predicted the future of Internet in his book:"What will be: How the new world of information will change our lives" http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...496196-5291747
you can buy it from Amazon.com which also belongs to a member of Greek family. |

I agree. The amount of people struggling over themselves to make the 'newest, most kick-ass TGP gallery' to cash in on free traffic amazes me.
TGP's are going to kill the entire industry. AVS isnt very much better, its almost like people who wake up at the crack of dawn to go and get a great deal at the markets. Want to see what I think might be the next big thing in the adult biz? live cam girls.. observe: http://www.naughtyandlive.com If this site can get me to sign up for a membership, then thats a serious fucking start. No lame pics, static movies.. you can get these girls to sniff their arm pits, and they'll probably do it. :) Anyone seen any other 'product' as good as this? I'd love to promote it. |
I agree, livecams will come in to play once broadband becomes more widespread... BUT it can't be done per minute thats for sure
MAAAAAn we have no idea how good it's going to get when more people get broadband connections, face it most people don't even bother with porn because it takes them so fuckin long to download.... Broadband will increase retention in good member areas also, you can offer more high quality movie content and so on... I give it another 5-7 years that the average joe webmaster can survive |
Charter cable says they're coming out with cable phone service and soon cable video phone service. You wouldn't really need the internet for live cams anymore if that happens. For the user it would be better than any net cam. Any chick could do that shit right out of her house. No webmasters needed.

good point jas1552....

hey amp, nice thread!
:2 cents: |
The internet will most likely be more and more integrated with TV, IMO. Also other medias will be integrated with it.
For instance, cell phones, I do not think alot of people realize this, but this should be a HUGE revenue source in the years to come. With the new UMTS system coming, with its high data transfer rate, it is actually possible to watch streaming videofeeds on cell phones. My guess is that cell phones and PDAs will become more like one unit, and it will be huge. Haha, that reminds me, about 5 years ago when I started out, this moron told me I should quit doing internet stuff, cuz the future was in text-tv. :1orglaugh |
Yeah, I agree. I think that you will start to see TV-like devices making their way into living rooms, where joe consumer can use it for both television and internet. He can do his shopping, send an email, or whack off to some nasty internet porno, or watch cnn all from the one unit in the living area.

I just got up myself. sipping on some coffee and reading this old post .
I am not a young chick anymore, and about 80% of my offline friends do NOT own a computer compared to 80% of my childrens friends who DO have one. Yeah I guess the net is here to stay, but it will change. Porn will always make money however the young kids are looking for other things on the net. Teens and people in their 20's still get plenty of sex, attention, and girls/guys, we live basically on the over 30 married crowd. Thats our surfer, thats the guy/girl who will pull out their credit card. More and more kids will own their own free sites, or build their own paysites, have online chat and newsletters, these "kids" are our future, you young parttime webmasters in their 20's are our future. One day you will be married, have to get a "real" job with benefits because your wife will want a house and your children need braces. Unless your future wife will be open minded to porn which more likely she will be not. The net will be around, webmasters will come and go and only a few will be around in 5 years and even less in 10 God knows if I still be in the porn business than. Have a great day, I now have to take one of the future surfers to the dentist lol |
classic thread.
quite the different Amp, wouldn't you reckon? |

oh and "sharpie908", since you're so obviously tuned into my spins, perhaps this would carry a tad more weight if we knew who you were. I don't expect you'll ever reveal yourself, as most cheesedick pussies never do, but until and unless you're willing to stand up and take some ownership, you will forever be talking right out your ass. You know it, I know it, and everyone else knows it. :) I got a pretty good idea who you are. Let's see if you got the stones to go any farther. |

I've come to expect it. This guy isn;t anything new. He's just the flavor of the day. :) |
I wonder why no one ever attacks the unknown designers.... the quiet guys..... the guys that don't make any waves...... the guys that throw in the occasional casual comment here and there, never alienate anyone, never cause any trouble..... what were their names again? Who were those guys again?
things that make ya go hmmmm..... :) |
sharpie908.... joined 10/24/03
yeah.... I didn't think so. Get yourself back on the back burner with the rest of my haters. There's nothing special about you. LOL..... no jumping the line punk. :) |
lemme guess sharpie....
your name is either Duane, or Paul. doesn't really matter, because either one is a monumental failure in this business. And no doubt the reason you won't take ownership. Keep talking out your ass. It suits you. Live in the alley, sleep with the rats. :) |
